After reading both tropes, I have to say: either Catch and Return is a really wierd trope (throwing arrows and bullets back?) or it is clearly a supertrope of Grenade Hot Potato. I'm inclined to support the latter interpretation.

It may be weird, but it is a trope. District 9 in particular has an incredibly over-the-top example of catching bullets and "throwing" them back.
Also remember that throwing knives and throwing axes are common in this trope. Those aren't even a stretch to think that you could catch one and chuck it back. Examples on the page include snowballs, a carrot, swords, pine cones, a snake, an empty gun... Not all of these are silly to think how they could manage it. It only gets silly when superpowers are involved but then again all things do.

This is true. Well, why don't we move the grenade examples, make a note on both pages about their relationship, and send the supertrope to image picking.

Looking at examples and description, there seems to be some vagueness about how the trope has to be done. The description mentions catching the weapon before it lands, but some examples specify that the person picked up the weapon after it fell to the ground, buried itself in a shield or person, etc.

I'm not sure the difference is big enough that it needs acting on.

I tried my hand at going through the wicks for Catch and Return and moving the ones that fit Grenade Hot Potato to that trope.
Anyway, I agree with Myra that this trope should be kept flexible to allow for the kinds of examples that Arcades Sabboth mentioned.

Right now these intersect. Page picture of Catch and Return with example of Grenade Hot Potato (linked in text) doesn't help at all.
So, what's to do? Move examples to subtrope and write this in a more articulated way in the article?
