The episode was great, my favorite segments were the exam, and the "confession", Mai is such a troll, it seems all her actions are done with the intention of trolling someone(specially Yukko). I laughed hard at the "On the book" joke for some reason.

I don't if it's just me, but while I enjoy the show on the first watch, I enjoy it way more on a re-watch, and every time I re-watch it I laugh harder than the previous time.

Also, Nichijou for the PSP.

This might just be the subbers' fault or a joke that I don't get but just to confirm, did any of you notice a scene where Mai was saying something but the only subtitle is a question mark?

I think I did something last night...

It was a bad sub, I believe. They didn't know how to translate, but since they wanted to release soon, they just leave is it is.

That is a bad sub, yeah. When Mai says 'don't ever say something like that again', she references Boke and Tsukkomi Routine in the original Japanese - the exchange after that is basically Mai saying 'stop treating me like your boke, you're more like my boke', as far as I can tell.

It's been fun.

Toy mean "stop treating me like I am your boke, you're more like my boke", right?

Yeah, that make sense. It is funnier because, while Mai is generally correct, she was Yukko's boke in the 'selamat malam' incident.

Speaking of witch, I believe this was the only time we ever saw Mai making a mistake.

^Grammar-wise, you don't have to include 'I am'; written 'stop treating me like your boke', the 'like' stands in for 'as', or 'as though I were'. I'm not advanced enough in linguistics to explain it well, but it's perfectly valid.

I don't think Mai was the boke at all in that scene, either; we don't get to hear her joke, just that Yukko doesn't get it (which doesn't mean that it was a stupid joke; it's more likely that it was too sophisticated for Yukko). But given the rest of the exchange, I'm not sure the scene was supposed to make sense - though the translation was apparently quite bad for that scene in particular.

It's been fun.

Oh, you don't? Sorry then. ^^;

Also, I notice now my previous post post was horribly ambiguous. I was not talking about the current episode, but about the 'selamat malam' incident, back on episode 1. There Yukko greeted Mai with selamat pagi, 'good morning', for which she got selamat malam, good night, as a reply. Yukko proceed then to correct Mai, Tsukomi style. This was the only time Mai made a mistake. Witch was also the first time we saw Mai on screen, I believe, amusingly enough.

Yeah, my previous post sucks, I am sorry. ^^;

Also, Nichijou for the PSP.

So you're the producer of a reality show starring the Nichijou cast, trying to make the show a big hit by introducing even weirder elements into it.

That sounds great.

This episode was great. I loved how Mai was messing with Yuuko, even during an exam, I mean really that girl probably lives to troll. Sasahara was great at hamming it up too, and Gundere is cute as always. The Professor segments were more cute than funny, but Ms. Guidance Councilor made up for it in her jump-rope gig. She looked so flustered. evil grin

And that PSP game for it sounds awesome! Sadly it's probably not gonna get translated to English, but still.

If I may say, the Troll!Mai segment made me laugh so hard my roommate thought I was going to die. So that's something.

I once was called to the principal's office with a mohican. Hats. For weeks.

Incidentally, why do I sometimes see people use a name with a state/emotion/whatever and an explanation mark before it? I've only ever seen it used here, sooo...

Generally, it's used to denote that you're not talking about the entirety of the character, just a certain part of their personality. Or something like that.

Um... basically, if Yukko does something fail-worthy - that is, worth slapping a 'FAIL' on - then that's Fail!Yukko. Basically. Anyone else got a better explanation...?

It's been fun.

Nah, it's fine. Thanks for clearing that up!

Incidentally, does anyone else realise how everything only happens to Yukko? Reminds me of this.

Well Mio did have her sister trolling her that one episode, but yeah so far Yuuko gets most of the weirdness.

^^^^^ I think it started in the fanfic community to denote alternate takes on canon characters, like pirate!Ranma or pregnant!Asuka or male!Usagi or whatever.

[edit] And we even have a trope page for this !

Neat! We have pages for everything.

Also: The isometric overhead view seems to be a feature of both the anime and manga. For some reason, I find it kind of annoying, but I don't know about anyone else.

Incidentally, anyone know the release schedules for the fansubs?

[up]There is aways a trope for something.tongue

Changing the subject, why people believe Sasahara is not rich? I understood the 'family of farmer' joke as not as a indication he is not wealthy, but rather he is not upper class as he make himself to look. Farmers can be very rich, and he does have a servant.

I guess there's a difference in perception between filthy stinking rich like how he seems, and just pretty well off like how he is.

That is the fansub wiki for this spring. Nichijou is released by Horrible subs on sunday, which is the earliest we see it, unless you like crunchyroll. Some of the subs are not listed on the page, but I probably know them. Just ask if you need 'em.

Of course they do. How else would people be able to keep track of it. Although it doesn't have entries for licensed shows, so people have to find them on their own if Horrible Subs isn't doing it. I write down everything before the season starts so I know who subs what.

Read all of my fanfics!
