Aren't most comics in alternate continuities from the original in the first place?
Atleast I assumed they are since a single character can look and behave so wildly different between comics.
One comic may show Spider Man being in love with Gwen, another will show him giving MJ cancer with radioactive jizz...and nother moment he would get his superpowers from a genetically altered spider rather than radioactive spider...

"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."No, the vast majority of Marvel or DC's comics are in canon with each other, barring Cosmic Retcons
...so Fantastic Four really once had an annoying Rob The Robot clone in place of the Human Torch?

"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."Comics. I'm not aware of anything in other media that are in-continuity with the comics
(X-Men Legacy has had two stories so far : continuity porn about Professor X's past, and Rogue watching over mutant kids.)
If the anime series is based on anything, it's Morrison's New X-Men (what with the U-Men showing up, and most of the team line-up) with a dash of Whedon's Astonishing X-Men (for Armor's presence).
I'd guess that someone asked their comic-book geek friend some questions, and remembered the name of the wrong series
...I wonder how many dozens of times the comics have already done that airport joke for Wolverine.
Huh. Huh. HUH.
I suppose that wasn't bad. I wouldn't call it good just yet, but that actually seemed to promise something.
Gonna watch this one, and hope that it will get rid of the bad taste Iron Man and Wolverine left behind.
@Signed: The comics actually had HERBIE the robot for a while too, around the early John Byrne era, although not taking the Human Torch's place. He did a Heroic Sacrifice, but much later, IIRC, Reed rebuilt him to be Franklin Richards' nanny.
Just watched the episode and I liked it.
The first thing I noticed is that, voices apart, this doesn't feel like an anime at all. This is not really a bad thing, but makes me wonder what is the point. At last this mean they will be not trying to much to be something they are not, which is good.
The story flowed nice to me, but I wonder if it was the same for non-X-Men fans. There is someone here who happens to be ignorant to X-Men who could give their input?
As for Hisako, I don't think she feels shoehorned. The whole 'young mutant got in problem, the X-Men save her and she enter the team' is a pretty classic story line, so it doesn't feel forced. Furthermore, she is a member of a main X-Men team for 5 years already. In fact, this team roster is almost exactly the same of the Astonishing X-Men.
Hmmm...
2nd episode out with subs now.
I'm remembering why I'm not a huge X-men fan. The plot isn't bad, but it's the sort of X-man plot that never really appealed to me. Oh well, I can still enjoy it. At least they are doing something interesting (if rather basic) with Cyclops as the Shell Shocked Senior on verge of Heroic BSoD.
The battle scenes where rather chaotic and some were too dark to tell what was happening.
Overall though I'd give it a B-.

Hm, the U-men aren't making for the most inspiring villains. Maybe that'll change when they show up properly, though
Funny you should say that, because the U-Men in the original comics were an absolute joke, if a slightly creepy one. They really Took a Level in Badass for this series. Also, what they did to that poor kid was impressively disturbing.
Also, I must say, I do like Wolverine's more brutish appearance in this series. Makes me kind of wish he'd looked like that in his earlier solo outing.
What's precedent ever done for us?Hmm...I was hoping this would be a Replacement Goldfish for Needless...what,with being animated by the same studio and all.
But...I'm just not feeling it. Not enough energy. Didn't Cyclops yell "OPTIC BLAST!" in Street Fighters Vs X Men?
Pro:Storm isn't talking like she's an RPG wizard like in the western cartoon. Still better than Wolverine. It's animation is Mad House quality for the most part.
Con:It's not so great so far, but that can be excused by being only 2 episodes in. Lack of Toad. And it's not...Needless enough despite also being a Mad House production. It's about Iron Man 's level in terms of entertainment.
Regarding this episode...
- I thought that kid's power was basically turning into that giant monster. I assumed they were kidnapping them to brainwash and use them. What's the point if they're just going to be turned into that?
- why does Cyclops have a motorcycles with built in weapons that are clearly weaker than his Eye Beam?
- I can't believe Wolverine punched Cyclop, whose power is held in check by that fragile looking visor, right in the visor.
I'll give it one more episode to decide if it's worth following or not. Cooperating with Marvel to make more western oriented anime is looking like a worse and worse idea as I watch these 3 shows. They should just copy Cowboy Bebop's formula if they wanted to appeal to westerners.

"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."A few things:
- The U-Men operate by grafting mutant bodyparts onto their own operatives, not using the mutants themselves in battle. That kid had been destabilised by their experiments - note his grotesquely swollen arm and leg even in his human form.
- Cyclops requires his hands free in order to adjust his visor's filtering. The bike's on-board weapons are probably easier to use whilst driving, particularly since they included a number of homing missiles.
- That visor is tougher than it looks. And besides, Wolverine actually struck him in the cheek. Watch the scene again.
^Though that still doesn't explain why he didn't just optic blast the robot looming over him after he gets knocked off his bike instead of sitting there until Wolverine saves his bacon :P

I'll turn your neocortex into a flowerpot!Hmmm, you guys don't seem to have warmed up to this series, but blog I read seems to consider it good as of now... Hmm, I guess I'll watch it.
It's good in that it's better than the previous two Marvel animes...
But for me atleast, it's not very strong as an anime, compared to all the other shows that's been airing.
Tiger And Bunny, another superhero anime, has proven to be superior to this show. Outside of superhero animes, as entertainment as a whole, the other shows airing this season are just more entertaining, however YMMV that is.
And more importantly, I expected MUCH better from Mad House. So in this case, it feels like a disappointing waste of talent. I mean, they make garbage before, but those are rare. From the company that gave us Needless, Highschool Of The Dead, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, and Trigun, I expected much better than this.
Granted they're only in charge of the animation, and the story is written by someone else, ...Or So I Heard, but still, those animation talent coulda been used elsewhere.
On the bright side, definately better than Iron Man and Wolverine.

"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."Mad House hasn't made much in the way of decent TV anime since 2007
Needless was made in 2009.
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."They also made the crappy Stitch anime that WROTE OUT LILO. -is still sore about that as a Lilo And Stitch fan-
Seriously They're Using the Dark Phoenix story line again? Haven't we seen this twice already out of the comic and had it referenced to another two times?
that beings aid I'm still watching and like this thus far.
Rarely active, try DA/Tumblr Avatar by pippanaffie.deviantart.comIsn't this after the Dark Phoenix storyline?
Fight smart, not fair.Interesting, I was expecting them to be staying in Japan longer. Kind of wished they'd skipped on Emma's secondary mutation. That thing is kind of stupid
Just to get this straight:
