That’s what nearly 20 years (pre-production started in ‘06, I believe) of technical advancement and honing your craft will do, yeah.

The amount of development that happened during the original run of The Clone Wars alone is kind of insane. It was only on for five years, but the difference between Downfall of a Droid (the first episode by production number that wasn’t given extra touch-ups to get to movie quality) and The Wrong Jedi is astounding.

George Lucas personally bankrolling it all definitely helped a lot towards those advancements

That’s really Lucas’s legacy in filmmaking, I think. So much of the money he made off of merch went back into the art in order to push technology to the point what was in his head could also be on the screen.

He never quite got there, but damn if we aren’t a lot closer because of him.

Oddly, the second most important legacy of George Lucas to me was that he made Star Trek's movies and TNG possible.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.

So what should Barriss as the hooded assailant should be considered as in terms of a trope?

I've always considered it to be a foreshadowing of her fate as a future Inquisitor given that everything about that fight appears, in hindsight, to be a test run for an Inquisitor hunting a fugitive Jedi, from the mask, cloak and dark uniform with red lightsabers... and sheer ruthlessness which ends with a hunt succeeding.

But it's heavily dependent on A) Barriss actually becoming an Inquisitor and B) Star Wars Rebels always being part of the next step for a TV show. Which I'm unsure of since it would be 11 years before we got any conclusive evidence of Barriss actually becoming an Inquisitor. And 11 years is a long time for plans to change.

Or should it be considered Harsher in Hindsight?

Harsher in Hindsight probably, there is nothing to indicate that Barriss becoming an Inquisitor was at all planned at that point.

I feel like the trailer dropping has distracted us from talking about how good the Bad Batch two parter is. When I already thought the Tantis facility is hacking grim they then introduce children rest subjects and gosh it becomes just harrowing.

Emerie is straight up struggling to make sense of the situation she's in.

Also, Cad Bane has stopped even lower under the Empire's funding. I understand now that his line in Book of Fett that Boba is a killer who takes money from the empire came from a position of personal understanding.

Cad Bane, yes that's his name.

He's still kidnapping kids, and he's still causing pain.

And our boy's not even crazy, he's sane.

Committing horrifying acts in the Emperor's name.

It's cause he's Cad Bane!

I honestly don't think this is a new low for him. It's pretty much the same low he's always been capable of. This ain't the first time he's helped kidnap force sensitive kids. As far as I'm concerned, he's at his usual level of awfulness.

As I said, he basically just keeps remdinding everyone what a horrible person he is.

It also shows once again that despite being supposedly the best bounty hunter of his time, he's also got zero standards about the kinda work he'll do. As long as he's paid handsomely, he'll do anything.

Cad Bane is also the guy who only has issues with other Bounty Hunters trying to be more noble. He doesn't despises Boba for being "a cold-blooded killer who works for the Empire". He despises Boba for trying to move away from that and become something else instead.

Everyone's got to be as low and vile as Cad Bane in the bounty hunting field.

Cad Bane is basically a character who has redeeming qualities, but much of the fandom exaggerates those qualities to pretend that he is some kind of Noble Demon.

The announcement does make me curious what future seasons of Tales will be titled, Tales of the Rebellion, Tales of the Sith, Tales of the Bounty Hunters seems like the obvious ones.

Tales from Dexter’s dinner.

I’m serious, Dexter has had such exciting life that I could easily see them thinking of some cool and fun stories about his restorant and its patrons.

Tales from The Hutt.

And one of the episodes has Ezra as the protagonist.

Does he, though? Unless "being really good at his job" counts as a redeeming quality now. tongue

I've also honestly never seen people treat him as a Noble Demon; if anything, most people just seem to think he's fun to watch because he's a Deadpan Snarker who's also good at his job (while simultaneously being an unrepentant piece of shit).

Little things. He keeps his word on the rare occassions he bothers to give it, and he doesn't kill anyone who isn't directly in his way.

Tiny little things, but it puts him above some of the bloodythirsty monsters we see in Star Wars

Except that guy he killed just because he wanted his hat.

Yeah, about that hat. Was that a hat Cad Bane liked, or was it actually Cad Bane's hat that he lost and it ended up in the hands of that one guy?

It was a similar hat to the one he previously owned, which he lost when he was arrested. But it was not his hat.
