He has teeth. In that scene, you can see them on several occasions, it's just that in some shots he doesn't.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I love that little snake hiss Thrawn does when he gets angry.
Cut off from TV access as I was, I'd been thinking for a while that putting Thrawn on a hunt for scrapped-together rebel cells, far removed from the three areas he most excels at (large-scale fleet tactics, logistics, and exploiting copious amounts of intel he already possesses), was pretty much the worst thing Rebels could have done with him to actually distinguish him as the Grand Admiral from the Legends EU. But holy fucking shit, that clip- that was absolutely Thrawntastic.
I think my favorite part about it is Hera's reaction to Thrawn nabbing her family's heirloom; Thrawn doesn't just study alien art, he's possessive. It actually adds to his character in a way that was never really seen (or at least called attention to) in Legends, but makes sense from what was already established in Zahn's books, and it really helps remind the audience that while he's a cool-ass motherfucker, Thrawn is an Imperial for more than just convenience. That angry hiss near the end was a bit over the top, but if anything would set the guy off, it'd be that. Or dealing with the asshole that nearly choked him to death with his mind. Either or. :P
I kinda wish Thrawn had given more of explanation for how he knew to shoot Ezra, though. Genre savviness is okay, but vaguer than I'm used to from Thrawn. I feel like he'd have slightly more technical reasons to be wary- like, knowing that rebels usually have friends on hand to save them is what made him keep an eye out, but Ezra's subtle lack of posture was what made Thrawn absolutely sure that the scout trooper in the room wasn't actually a scout trooper.

but HOW?About Maul, let's not forget that last time he visited tatooine, he had probe droids.
I liked the Bendu's reluctance to help it reminded me of Treebeard. But he's been underused throughout the season. I'd have liked to see the original plot of "The Mystery of Chopper Base" where the eponymous base disappears because it was built on top of the Bendu's back and he decides to take a walk. Instead we got some spiders... speaking of, it would've been awesome to see angry Krykna trying to web the AT-A Ts. Or did they flee the area when it got bombarded?
That's pretty much why I was worried. I figure that's actually half the reason why Palpatine specifically had Thrawn (rather than some other Grand Admiral or nobody at all) conquering shit in the Unknown Regions at this point in the timeline in Legends, apart from actually being a native- taking over worlds and annexing them into the Imperial regime is pretty much his main competence zone, and the known galaxy was kinda already being firmly ground under Palpatine's heel.
but HOW?Lothal is Outer Rim, isn't it? That's why the Empire is building all its secret weapons there? It makes sense that Thrawn might be redirected to the new location.
I wonder if we'll ever see him acting on his normal timeline; namely that of the books, giving hell to the New Republic, with its actual fleet.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youUnlikely, but possible.
From what I've heard, the entire Imperial fleet just bailed to the Unknown Regions to make the First Order after Jakku turned into a clusterfuck. If Thrawn did any of his BBY Legends campaign, I could see those worlds becoming useful, but if he survived that long, I don't think he would've ended up doing what he did in the Thrawn trilogy. The Empire seemed like it was in way worse shape at the time than it ever ended up being in Legends.
Come to think of it, was Thrawn even mentioned in the Aftermath books? I know the first one was written before he got announced for Rebels, at the very least, but I'm pretty sure the third came out while the season was in progress. If he was alive by then, presumably he would've at least gotten a reference or two.
but HOW?Actually, given that he survives the season, and episodes of the show are written over a year in advance, it is extremely unlikely he would be mentioned. Because it locks the show into a path.
Much like Ahsoka, Thrawn won't become available in the future of his own timeline until Rebels is done with him.
So at a Star Wars Celebration panel, they seem to have showed their hand a bit and they're actually going to canonize the "Rex is the old man Rebel in Return of the Jedi" theory next season.

Star Wars canon is fucking weird and I love it.
It's sorta like that feeling where you watch the whole process of a small town being swallowed by growth and becoming huge.
Or watching a child grow from a very young age into an adult. And you got to witness the whole thing.
I love the moment we're in (regarding Star Wars canon specifically).
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youSorry, which Old Man Rebel in Jedi are we talking about?
I guess it's a cute little retcon, but it also kinda makes me mad, because that old guy on Endor is very clearly a white dude, and Rex's genetic template is Jango Fett, who's very much not white.
But whatever floats fan theorists' boat, I suppose.
I would not say that the rebel in Jedi looks "very clearly" white, or that Temuera Morrison looks "very much" not white. His skin tone is light enough and the old guy is lit poorly enough that the difference can be explained with aging.
Yeah, Rex's skin tone in Rebels isn't too far off from what the old guy looks like in his poorly lit appearances. And look at it this way: It isn't making Rex white, it's making Jedi less white.
Regarding Forces of Destiny: While I'm happy to see Padme again (even if only for a few minutes), and very eager to see Ahsoka's shorts (and when they'll be taking place), I'm not 100% thrilled with the way it - and in the press announcement of all things - casually drops a bombshell of a spoiler for Rebels. While the info about Sabine's short isn't that bad, they just dropped a friggin' nuke for Hera.

Oh God! Natural light!Towards the end of the article behind this link.
Or if you're feeling lazy:
Next to Leia and Han on Endor.
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheySo are they saying Hera was part of the assault team on Endor and we just didn't see her?
Not necessarily part of the assault team, just that she at some point spends time groundside on Endor. She is a pilot after all. Maybe she went down to hit up the party like Wedge and Lando and this takes place the next day. If Rex was down there, and it seems the story group really is going forward with that retcon, I imagine she would want to meet up with him ASAP.
And if that really is Rex on Endor, I will be very disappointed if we don't one day get to see him have a little chat with Luke/Leia.

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyLuke: I heard stories about you, they say you fought in the 501st during the Clone Wars.
Rex: I did - I knew your father as well."
Luke: What did you think of him?
Rex: He was a better man back then than the one he eventually became - but that's why I believe that it's true that he changed in the end like you say.

I don't think Rex knows about Vader.
I imagine inside his mouth there's a beak rather than teeth.
