Could use a better title: Flat Yes

[up] Indeed. One crowner for the title first, then once that is done, maybe another for the page quotation if clear consensus for that is not decided by then.

Whichever wins, I say this trope get a good amount of redirects from this.

Er, did you mean to say "this trope SHOULD get a good amount of redirects" or something like that instead?

Er, yeah.

Doesn't this become automatically redirect to new page? That how I tought these renames work.

[up] I think what Known Unknown was saying was that we should add more titles that would redirect to whatever the new name will be.

All the proposed names, perhaps?

The ones proposed so far, I guess. If further ones miss the point of the trope they should not be redirects, though.

Anyway, as the person who launched this trope, my current favourite alternate title is Blunt "Yes", as the overall theme (saying yes to a question whose asker would consider a no more appropriate) is related to bluntness by its very nature. Someone can be blunt enough to do so without necessarily being a very honest person, making Blunt "Yes" easily much better than Honest Yes.

... you know what, I say just rename it to Blunt "Yes". The theme of the trope is bluntness, it was since I first proposed it, I just picked Flat "Yes" as a snowclone of Flat "What" and it's pretty obvious in hindsight that it was even less fitting than I thought.

I made an alternate titles crowner here. Given that the trope was launched so recently, I decided to include Flat "Yes" as an option if people want to keep the original trope name. If that was an inappropriate thing to do, please tell me so I correct it.

Sorry, I guess I do not quite know if a single proposition crowner would be better here first. From what I can tell, this topic is more about choosing what the best title would be for a newly launched trope than renaming an old trope that has a great deal of misuse.

Yeah, Blunt "Yes" sounds fine. Dunno why you didn't go with that in the first place. cool

Rhymes with "Protracted."

Well, the YKTTW discussion shows me voicing concern that "blunt" would be mistaken for its cannabis-related connotations, (in hindsight that sounds absurd) and others voicing concern that "blunt" makes it sound like it requires the character to be blunt. (Of course, saying "yes" when a "no" would be more appropriate is blunt by its very nature.)

Blunt relates to cannabis? That was new one for me.

But yeah, voted for Blunt "Yes". Shall we give it a week before closing? Normal exception rules(no clear winner or clear winner)

Seriously? I've heard it all the time in rap music, plus a few times back in high school when people at school were talking about cannabis.

I can give you two reasons:

1) I'm from Finland. Language difference.

2) I do not listen to rap.

But now, I am one cannabis smarter! grin

Well, Blunt "Yes" is now a dozen points ahead of the next option. Perhaps we should go with that?

I say yes, it has 11:1 ration and is 12 votes ahead of second option.

Yeah, I say go ahead and rename it, though I don't know how to do so myself...

So, you start by moving the text of the subpages onto their new locations (old subpages can either be cutlisted or made into redirects...not sure if it matters which). Change any indexes to reflect the new title. If any of the pages being moved have discussion attached, ping a mod to get them moved. When you've got all of that done, cut and paste the text from the old page onto the new page and make the old page redirect to the new one. Finally, go through the wicks using the "Related to" button and change them to the new name.

Edit: Oh, and for tropes, make a note of the change on the Renamed Tropes page.

Aaaand done! Wicks fixed, redirect made, chagne reported and page is up. Also moved troper tales and lanconic, not sure what to do with playing with. History has that it was removed, but...

Crown Description:

Vote up names you like, vote down names you don't. Whether or not the title will actually be changed is determined with a different kind of crowner (the Single Proposition crowner). This one just collects and ranks alternative titles.
