Presumably they're basing this on sales. Being well-known and memetic isn't the same as selling well.
Aww D:
The Protomen enhanced my life.Capcom's probably right. It seems like Mega Man has kind of become a niche character. There aren't exactly midnight riots whenever a new game comes out—in fact a lot of people think there are too many Mega Man games, and that's actually been a popular opinion since the mid-1990s.
I'll always like me some Mega Man, though I do think the games have gotten worse.
visit my blog! Then again, when's the last time you've seen a Mega Man commercial? Or saw a big Proto Man cut-out at your local mall? They don't really advertise in the US of A.
I do see Mega Man toys at my local CVS, though.
Why I am afraid of fences.Let's hope this changes with Legends 3.
They better advertise the hell out of Mega Man Legends III. I want it to sell like hot-cakes here in the states. I desperately want Mega Man to be considered a financially stable choice for Capcom in the future.
We all know that Capcom people are idiots, guys.
Capcom USA, meet me at camera 3:
Maybe if you put some effort into your translations instead of giving us Blind Idiot Translations like "What a polite young man she was!", you could actually sell some more games outside of Japan. It would also help greatly if you spelled your own characters' names right (or at least consistently).

Extra 1: Poochy Ain't StupidI'm fairly certain that the Battle Network games did okay, at least. Probably more less popular out of Japan than actually unpopular
Yeah, I don't even play Mega Man, but I'm really not buying Capcom's claims.
Either they legitimately think that, or this is an April Fool's Joke.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelThey do okay, hence the problem, in today's gaming industry "okay" is no longer good enough to support companies.
Mega-Man peaked around the age of Battle Network with the games piercing 1mil in their sales, but as time went on if you look at the new Star Force series sales now average out to around half a million in general landing on the higher side. And this was awesome in the past, it is no longer viable in the present with their high AAA budgets, Mega Man is a name people know but it's not a game they particularly rush out to buy.
And it's not a matter of advertising either, the SMT series in general get absolutely zip in advertising, and they don't even get the Capcom brand name or credit of the Mega-Man Franchise known to most people, yet SMT games sell for around the same as the famous Mega-Man Franchise.
The fact that the ZX and Star Force games were weak copies of their predecessors is probably the reason for that
ZX and Star Force were pretty great in their own right. ZX at least instantly, with Star Force 3 being an amazing game, and 1 not being as bad as you'd think.
... We don't talk about Star Force 2 though.
Stargate SG-1 Let's Watch. Because my ZHP thing failed.I've played Star Force 1. It was not a good game
And while the ZX series play well enough, it's kind of hard to deny that the entire concept feels more like Capcom needed to keep the series alive than the product of artistic vision

You should try Star Force 3 though if you're willing to give the series another chance.
And yeah, I can see where you're coming from with ZX, but to me it seemed more like some sort of homage to all forms of Megaman in the series' history.
Stargate SG-1 Let's Watch. Because my ZHP thing failed.I think that the basic idea of ZX is very interesting. A transhuman future where humanity and reploids have merged and the warriors of past ages live on as biometals? Sign me up! It would've been possible to get something really, really cool out of that.
The execution, though... eh.

Hey, I liked all the Star Force games.
I personally like the ZX series, maybe for the all "nostalgia in you face" thing, I mean, lots of nods about the olds Rockman Series
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Xan-Xan/ZX had and still has a great deal of potential. All they need to do is get the plot straight and use some good 'Mega Men' for the Bio Metals. Like Blues, Bass or Copy X.
The sequel's english dub was less than passable though..."Megamerge!"
Funny enough, the bosses that only have one or two lines actually have better voice actors than the major characters that talks all the time in the english version.
I still wish they would make a third game and let us know what was up with that secret ending in ZXA.
As for new biometals...theres Bass, Protoman, Roll, Copy X, and...Elpizo?
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."I was a big fan of all the Battle Network games, even the ones that most people don't like, but Star Force was a huge letdown. Frankly, I don't want to reward Capcom for failure; I think that would send the wrong message.
You realize you only get that line if you transform from a human into your regular form, which you didn't need to do that often, since people would actually talk to you suited up in this game.
Also, what was wrong with the line?
I think he may be referring to the 'A-Trans' thing. It does get a little annoying after a while. Then again, you could always just slide down the volume or ignore it so...
This is the part where they jump up and say "April Fools!"......right?
