I know you're supposed to keep Seven's affection low so you can use her with Melia to craft great cylinders instead of gems... but I feel horrid for doing it.

You know until Chugga's playthrough I never noticed that Eryth Sea is just kind of floating in midair above Makna Forest. Gravity? What's that?

As someone said in the comments the rain in Makna Forest must be really salty.

I was under the impression that despite the name, Eryth Sea was freshwater.

It's probably where Alcamoth gets its water from so I assume it's safe to drink.

water filtering is a thing and if anyone would have such technology it would be the high entia.

I didn't think of that although I don't think anything in the game ever tells us whether or not the water of this world is naturally salty or not.

Eryth Sea is probably my favourite area in the game.

i dont like eryth sea.

too large with too little in the way of land. very pretty though. but too many lvl90 monsters. and alcamoth has too many timed quests.

i prefer makna forest.

In terms of aesthetic, Eryth Sea is definitely my favorite place in the game.

I think Eryth Sea is beautiful although the Bionis Leg is probably the best designed area in my opinion.

my opinion of the bionis leg was soured when, unfortunately, it turned out my pc wasnt really capable of playing xenoblades at anything higher than native resolution with hd textures. native resolution at desktop resolution turns out to look awful until you can tune it out- which was basically what the bionis leg was. tuning out the pixels.

also also, the emulator build i was using for most of it couldnt render the ground textures properly so it looked even worse OTL

sometimes hd isnt worth it. but i cant go back.

My favourite areas are probably a tie-up between a Valak Mountain at night and the Fallen Arm.

I thought it was Riki and Seven, though, since Seven's Shooter bonus is three starting cylinders instead of one, while Riki's Engineer skills skew heavily toward Gentle Flame (the one that raises your cylinder count).

[up]It was one of the two. I didn't take any risks, and raised neither.

Besides, I think you need the medium flame to slightly raise it each time you give it a run through.

Just defeated the Arachno Queen in Tephra Cave.

I hafta say- Chain Attacks are freaking awesome assuming you get one in the first place. I spend too much time screwing around with blue item orbs to actually keep a high party gauge between battles, so I usually only get to use it during big fights. (Note to self- Arachno's hearing range is a LOT bigger than the sight of a vision-type monster. Be careful.)

One last thing, I need to ensure I'm not weird- did anyone else hold on to the Scrap Driver (Reyn's default weapon) for the whole trip? I'd just feel bad selling it, being a thoughtful gift from Shulk an' all.

[up]I've been recovering from surgery recently and I started another play-though and I did exactly that.

I do the same with Gadolt'sRifle as well

Not really. The way I'd do it is to get as many of the attributes in the crystals I had lying around to combine up as close to 100% as possible, then pair up Seven and Riki to turn each into a very-high-percentage cylinder. Generate a few of those, then combine two with one single attribute I want and have Shulk and Reyn run it; more often than not, it'll enter Heat (raised to 200%, resulting Gem is one level higher), and occasionally even Mega Heat (300%, you get two identical Gems for the price of one). Frequently, that first step alone clears up space in my inventory (turning, say, five low-percentage crystals into one high-percentage cylinder).

If that attribute were to be bumped over 100% by a Medium/Strong Flame, though, then instead of a high-percentage cylinder that I could use to make an obscenely good Gem, I'd just get a standard Gem. This actually happened a little too often anyway, because of random, unwanted Party Support (resulting in reactions akin to this Awkward Zombie Pokémon comic).

One almost wishes you could choose what support they give (So when they chime in, it's to give an extra cylinder at the end, and not a heat boost we really didn't need.)

Mega heat not only gives you two gems, those gems have maxed stats for their level. Basically, it's in my experience the only way to get 100% resist gems or those +75 str/dex gem. (I think 75 is the cap per gem? Not sure, has been a long time)

So, that's the only way to get those fancy 100% unbeatable gems you see on those one-shot characters?

Or are those unobtainable in the game, and there simply because they're on one-shot characters?

Unobtainable. They're just given to one shot characters so that they can't be killed in a battle, as a bit of assurance during those big cinematic battles.

End game spoilers: The fact that one of the guys that gets them happens to be gifted with immortality and the other one is reality incarnate is a nice bonus.
