The visuals look pretty cool.
"But it actually changes her mother into a bear."
To be honest. I am not liking where this is going.
She turns her mother into a bear? So, the Bear she's shooting is... her mom?
Well, I guess one way to stop your mom from marrying you off is an arrow in her eye but still, Pixar, what the heck?
Oh, PLEASE be either lying or metaphorical. I seriously do not want that.
Looking for some stories?Who knows, it may be Better Than It Sounds
Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love.Still, I just wouldn't like it, if only for the near-inevitable Transformation Sequence. I hate those things.
Looking for some stories? One thing I've found with Pixar movies is that the concept will sound really weird but you'll get a good movie nevertheless. Or the basic premise is really hard to figure out.
I remember with Finding Nemo, the only reason we figured out the plot of Marlin trying to find his son was from an article in a magazine or newspaper. Before that, the only thing we knew about the movie was a teaser with Marlin going to ask for directions and Dory ruining it. Didn't sound very interesting.
Same with an Incredibles teaser where Bob was trying to go out and save the day only to have difficulty getting his belt on and Helen telling him "COME TO DINNER!" and he was like "Uh just give me some rice cakes." Point is, trailers and teasers =/= the movie, especially with Pixar.

Well if they've researched the hell out of everything which they usually do and I know this from both that article, and some indirect connections I have with the company, then I'm confident it'll be fantastic.
Hopefully Cars2 will be Pixar's equivalent of Rob Reiner's North or Joel Schumacher's Batman And Robin in which case they'll rise up again, maybe not as high but again rather than like Don Bluth's Rock A Doodle or M Night Shymalans The Village
Anyway if the guys toured all of Scotland and are going as far as animating the midges [for the uninformed those are like fleas or ticks],then how can it possibly be like Cars2?
I do worry though.I do worry though.
"Hopefully Cars2 will be Pixar's equivalent of Rob Reiner's North or Joel Schumacher's Batman & Robin"
Why do you hope it sucks? Wouldn't it be better if it was amazing, so they wouldn't need to rise again?
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. Not the best examples. Reiner and Bluth didn't exactly recover from those pitfalls.
Looking for some stories? She turns her mother in a b-O Hkay. I will now THROW my hands up in the air, and roll my eyes! *SIGH*
Maybe she kills her Mom and spends the rest of the movie looking for a way to bring her back to life. And then the movie will be about being able to move on from...killing your mom... okay, I lost my train of thought.
i. hear. a. sound.^That's really dark. I wanted it to be dark, Pixar, but not like this. I didn't think it would involve matricide!
Well, look at it this way: if you want to make a baby cry, first you give it a lollipop. Then, you take it away. If you never give it a lollipop to begin with, then you would have nothing to cry about. That's like Pixar, who gives us laughs and love just so that they can tear it all away and make us cry, so they can drink the sweet milk of our tears...You see, it's our tears that give Pixar their great power.
Why did they have to go with a transformation story!? It's been done time and again in fantasy films since the 90's. Guuuuuuh.
Because no matter how overdone a trope is, someone can still do it well. Don't let anything tell you otherwise, especially not your own experience.
x5 It's not a bad idea, but it reminds of Tales of Earth Sea. Which was pretty crappy. But that's just because they executed it pretty badly.
I just can't stop loling at the premise. "But it actually changes her mother into a bear." It sounds so.... anti-climactic. Did NOT see that coming.
"When she has a problem with her mother over marriage, she gets a magic spell to try to stop her mother bothering her with the suitor business."
You guys seem to forgot this part though, I think it sounds interesting.
Oh my gosh, this comment. What about now that we really know what happens?

Maybe her mother eats a suitor (that would put an end to the suitor business).

i. hear. a. sound.Though I mentioned Brother Bear when I posted the link here, the first thing that actually came into my head was /v/'s Gamestop meme
Reiner didn't rise up entirely, but he did direct some good films afterwards and since North, maybe they aren't A-list but there good what else do you call The Bucket List? And Schumacher's only bad films since Batman And Robin are Phantom Of The Opera and Twelve,The Phone Booth may not be A-list like Lost Boys but it's still good.
And I acknowledged Bluth never came back up,even Anastasia didn't cover it
As for hoping Car2 won't suck,I did hope that even though I never cared much for the original, but I went to see it and unfortunately it did just that, but hopefully it will be the only one.
Apparently this one's gonna have a narrator, and voiced by John Ratzenberger
Ratzenburger as the narrator? Could work. Maybe.
Looking for some stories?Where'd you hear that?
Good Rob Reiner films after North: The American President, Ghosts of Mississippi, The Bucket List, Flipped (barely released but Madeline Carroll did an excellent job). It was the period between 1999 and 2005 that really sealed his fate. His movies then were just as bad as North.
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/I don't know what everyone is complaining about, the prospect seems just fine to me. So, her mum's a bear. And it's a story about a daughter and her mother. The main heroine is accompanied by three lords - Scottish lords, mind, meaning they will be Badass and then some. They way I see it, there are two ways this could go. 1! her mum goes feral, runs off into the wild, and they have to go after her through all the Scottish mysticism. Epic Quest. Big chase. Sounds pretty cool to me. option 2! Mum remains sapient, and they have to go find some magic to help her out. Again, epic quest, lots of possible big challenges.
Either way, both sound like they could be really cool. and 1 movie doesn't constitute a slump, even if Cars2 is terrible. For all we know, they could have just slacked off on it to focus more on Brave.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.
...She turned her mother into a bear? Okay, then.
I still think this will be pretty awesome, though.
