I think they'll continue to be profitable unless they really hit a Dork Age.
Monsters University could be good, although I say that as a Monsters Inc fan. And their next three projects after that sound like what we normally expect from Pixar.

Looking for some stories?Yeah the projected films after Monsters University all look like they'll be just as good as Pixar's best.
I don't think Monsters University looks good, and I say that as a Monsters Inc fan :/. But I guess I'm something of a purist.
If Dreamworks started making more How To Train Your Dragon-quality films, I'd [begrudgingly] admit that they could surpass Pixar's glory days. I just don't think that, with the exception of HTTYD, they've done it yet.
The future productions look interesting. Still sad about Newt, though. It was going to be directed by the guy who directed my favorite Pixar short.
And if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know.God I'm sick of apocalyptic doom from Pixar fans. Good lord, one bad movie and one that had (whether you liked it or not) mostly decent reviews and people flip their shit!
Besides, if anyone will usurp Pixars dominance, its Sony. They have the animation chops and have one of the most brilliant animation directors of all time working for them.
This, although I do think DreamWorks Animation has some real potential (I loved HTTYD).

Well can you blame them? Cars 2 broke the streak of consistently great films, both profit-wise and quality-wise, for a studio, since their break into the movie business! It's ripe for mockery!
Cars 2 was sort of their Breather Episode to me. It did reap in boatloads of cash.
And even then, Cars 2 was better than alot of the crap released that year (Gnomeo And Juliet and Mars Needs Moms being the ones I've seen. I'd sit through Cars 2 a million times before I see those again.)

I had to see Cars 2 in theaters twice, because the second time, I was on vacation with my parents who wanted to see it with me! Oh well. Bless parents' souls, they knew it was a simple film made for fun and didn't need any deep meaning behind it, so they loved it.
What do you thing That Guy With The Glasses Will do. Will there be a Bum Review, or will the Nostalgia Chick take a crack at it (She took one at the Lorax, and I thought the bum would be all over it)?
edited 27th Jun '12 12:55:43 PM by DrPsyche
The only reason she would tear it apart is if it a) sucked completely or b) Sent girls some horrible message or insulted women, which it did neither.
As for the Bum, you're aware Doug was on his Honeymoon last week, right? If he did plan on doing it, it would be here next week at the earliest.
Didn't know about the Honeymoon. Whether the Chick makes a video is up to her opinion, and I'm unaware of the schedule of a bum review release vs. a release date. Some Vlogs of other contributers are up.
It didn't suck, but I'd say there is potential for a few jabs.
Looking for some stories? There's always room for jabs, They've torn into movies/series I've liked, and it was still funny.
Just came back from seeing it, very good/great/better than I expected!
Pros:
- Merida stayed badass the entire film.
- Elinor was also a badass, even before becoming a bear.
- The triplets were cuter as cubs.
- Almost made me cry, second to Toy Story 3, which did make me cry.
- Funnier than I thought it would be.
- Elinor and Merida learn their lessons a lot better than the Golden Book, online audiences and critics say they did.
Cons (can't remember some of them):
- The title screen was the most 3D part of the whole movie (missed the Wreck It Ralph trailer because we made it into the move at La Luna).
- They dragged on the scene where Mor'du pinned Merida to the ground was about to eat her—she at least would've been bitten by the time Elinor first struck him.
- The music felt too generic.
- Never understood the Witch's obsession with bears, although there might not be much to it, like my liking for said animal.
Some things I noticed:
- The credits might be an artifact of that scene they cut out where it's supposed to be winter or something as part of the curse.
- @whoever was wondering if Merida was straight or not: She probably is.
[More words I forgot.] All in all, glad to call it a Pixar film and wouldn't mind getting it after getting some other titles that i want.

The Golden Book? Do you mean like one of the tie-in books to the novel?
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaNot the novel, this◊ is the book I'm referring to.
Is it me or does the dad look a little off on that cover?
I seriously can't think of any clever joke.Seems fine to me.
^^ The rendering of his face doesn't seem to be as good as everyone else. He looks more like an illustration gone wrong and makes him look creepy in comparison to the rest of the EXCELLENT book cover.
http://www.longcriercat.deviantart.com I'm thirsty. Got any ink? Resident Pen Ward antagonist.I just got back from seeing Brave, after failing to see it once because the theater lost power, and I have to say, I really liked this movie. I just found it an amazing movie with a compelling plot, interesting characters, and beautiful animation.
Just saw it tonight.
Regarding Merida's big speech: Elinor didn't start telling Merida what to say until the subject of the betrothal itself came up. That whole spiel about the unity of the clans, how they defended each other when the highlands were invaded: That was all Merida. That she was able to speak so effectively on the subject (when she hadn't cared a whit for the kingdom previously) demonstrated how much Merida had grown during the ordeal. And it was probably a major reason why Elinor's suggestion to postpone betrothal was received as well as it was.
I didn't write any of that.On the subject of that Golden Book, Fergus looks somewhat Uncanny Valley to me as well. The smile is just...creepy.
Dreamworks has made some really awesome movies: How To Train Your Dragon, Monsters VS Aliens, Kung Fu Panda, Prince Of Egypt (a earlier example) and Megamind; no one denies they can be pretty good too, the problem is that it's hard to ignore the bad films and the Sequelitis
And yeah, I saw Brave...it was okay but surely wasn't Pixar's best...
