It's difficult to sum up because it's basically 5 different games in 1.
The new It Just Bugs Me!Each one of those "games" can be summed up in one sentence. Two, if necessary.
Maybe do what we did for Magic The Gathering and the Yu Gi Oh Card Game and split off some of the more involved explanation into a Useful Notes page.
I really don't think that's a good idea. This is a work, so it needs a works page, not a works page and a Useful Notes page.
But we don't need a detailed description of how to play the game. A brief overview, sure.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.We Are Not Game FA Qs...we don't need to go into detail about how to play each of the different modes and such. Let's trim this down to basics.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Seems fine to me. It's not going into detail about how to play each stage, just general "what you 'll be doing at each stage." You could maybe take out the stuff about how you ally with or fight other tribes and whatnot, but everything else looks decent.
They lost me. Forgot me. Made you from parts of me. If you're the One, my father's son, what am I supposed to be?I agree. It is big because of the relative complexity of the concept.
Maybe it need some cutting, specially in the civilization phase description, but there isn't really how to cut to "one or two lines" each.
It's really more than 5 games in 1 now because of stuff from Heroes and Galactic Adventures being included. Those are the ones that should get their own pages.
Galactic Adventures is an expansion pack, so I don't think a separate page is necessary. Heroes and Creatures are separate games, so they qualify.
Okay, fine! I'm going to do something I'm sort of good at!Spore Hero really needs to be split off. It's got it's own section at the bottom dedicated to it so it shouldn't be too difficult. Other than that, it looks fine.
I'm a little confused. The description easily fits on a single page for me. If I go full-screen, I can see the entire description plus the first half-dozen examples on one page. And my monitor is not particularly large.
I was all set to jump on the "we're not Game FA Qs bandwagon" until I actually looked, but as it is, I'm not seeing a problem. Five paragraphs (not counting the bullet-point list) seems fairly reasonable.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Yeah, this seems pretty bare bones as far as pages go. I can fit the whole definition on my page at once and I'm not even anywhere close to full screen on my monitor.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI can just fit the area under the title and above the example bar on one screen. I think it really depends on your font sizes and resolution, but I've seen much longer page descriptions before(usually ones that go into synopsis mode, like Gabriel Over The Whitehouse).
Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - CamacanThis one doesn't go into synopsis mode though. It's a brief explanation of what the game is. One sentence on each of the five modes all of which play completely different. And then a paragraph telling you what the other games in the series are.
I can't see how we can cut it down any more.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickThe original post was in March. We cut it down since then. We can lock this thread now.
Exactly as the title says. The description, at more than two* pages long, is far, far longer than it needs to be, and contains a lot of unnecessary information.
Should it be trimmed down, and if so, what should be trimmed down?
