@Milos: How expensive are uniforms there?

I'd like to point out something about Australian school uniform policy. As far as I can tell Australian students never have to wear the uniform, or at least some parts of it, if they have permission not to from a parent/guardian, and this country is home to more than a few students whose caretakers are quite lenient about it. (I know one guy at my school who always has his parents' permission to wear running shoes.)

My school was much stricter about it, though then again it was a private school. I didn't mind wearing a uniform, though, because it was just dark pants and a white shirt, which I think looks pretty good.

The first middle school I went to had a dress code. White polo shirt, dress shoes, and khakis.

Dress shoes with khaki?

Please, in the name of Saville Row, tell me they were brown?

Yeah. They were brown.

They weren't required to be brown though.

Which meant a lot of kids wore black shoes with them. It looked bad.

Hardly any schools practice school uniforms over here, though it has been hotly discussed. I personally wouldn't mind a uniform as long as it was free and not stupid. And if it didn't come with a rule for hair. Hair's sacred, man.

Yeah, but Norwegians always seem to be fairly well dressed, so it's not as vital for you lot. Some of the kids over here go about like a sack of shit tied in the middle.

Indeed. But despite appearances, there actually exists a poverty problem, and fancy clothing is, as usual, expensive. So the question of introducing school uniforms is always boiling under the surface.

I'm think he means more along the lines of internet trolls only in real life. I hope.

You don't know what wights are? xD look it up.

On the topic of school uniforms- my problem with them is the cost. Sending kids to school is expensive, especially for low-income families. Adding a required set of clothing just makes it worse, especially if the kids are clumsy and get tears, stains, etc. in their clothes often.
