Yellow!Church got pulled out of Caboose's head by a grenade and then immediately got sent back to Sidewinder when one of the Clone!Wyoming's helmets malfunctioned. No interaction with anybody. That's one of the few retcons that bugs me because it was a big letdown compared to the Noodle Incident that they set up in season 3. All the other retcons about Blood Gulch were really gradual and well-written, especially season 14.
As far as I'm concerned, that's another yellow Church and he didn't get sent back in time, he got pulled into the Wyoming unit for more infinite torture.

I would never have expected a Grif and Locus team up. But now I want to see more of them together.
Poor Grif has totally lost it.
Episode 16 has been released to the public.
Of course it's an archived recording. A really funny one, but from a long time ago. Also, Locus has rescued the Freelancers.
I disliked Temple before. But he was mean to Caboose. Now I hate him.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Just about you and everyone else buddy
[DATA LOST]I used to sympathize with those pricks. Also surprised to see Griff back so soon.
I Bring Doom, and a bit of gloom, but mostly gloom.Well, Loco at least seemed to think that they all can be friends later on.
But yeah, Temple is now just an entertaining villain; the traces of sympathy remaining are very few (and not even fully in, considering that his beef is with Freelancers and not other Sim Troopers).
grahI enjoy Temple simply for the fact that it's made very apparent he's deliberately trying to come off as this Machiavellian villain, and is very proud of himself when he thinks he pulls it off. That little touch makes him much more enjoyable.
Episode 17 has been released to the public.
YOU BASTARDS! IF WASH DIES, YOU ARE ALL FUCKING DEAD!
They did not just do that.
That's not okay. ;-;
grahNo. Nonono. No no no no no NO.
Automated armor lockdown. It saved Donut and it will save Wash.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!I already know Washs fate
I could tell you
I dunno about that. There was some visible blood spurting out and I don't remember if that was the case with Donut's (many) death(s).
grahI'm trying to remember this, but didn't Temple say that the armor lock was disabled?
[DATA LOST]Have we had an anticlimactic death before? Barring characters who died before they became important (The Dakotas, for example) or weren't important in the first place (various mooks).

but HOW?Eh, that was pretty climactic. That we didn't get to see what happened didn't take away from it. That was kind of the entire point.
Tex at the end of BGC.

There wasn't really any buildup apart from one or two scenes, though. And "that was the point of it" doesn't necessarily make it a good point. I don't think it really added anything to the narrative, especially since we know how everything ended up.
but HOW?He didn't get to see how it ended so neither did we. And really, it would have just been another giant, battle. Which while it would have been cool, not seeing it also doesn't detract from anything.
A feel like him glitching out and losing processing power was pretty well-established, so I''ll have to disagree with you on their not being enough build-up, either.

One instance of Church glitching out does not count as adequate build-up. And "he didn't see the end of the battle" is not even remotely a decent justification for the audience not seeing it. That entire ending speech came out of absolutely nowhere and had no thematic relevance whatsoever.
but HOW?
I think the canon explanation is that all of that was Gamma fucking with Church because that's what he does when he's not telling knock knock jokes. I can't remember if anybody else interacted with Yellow!Church or not though.
