It's probably because of the huge influx of new players. Same deal with the energy market, when the Steam thing started the market was at 6000 crowns per, now we're down at 3400. Some items received a huge increase in demand, some have had their prices sink because people keep putting 1 crown as the starting bid for some crazy reason.

Though I do want to see what would happen if I made a Calibur and put it on the market for a 1 crown bid no buy price. See how high it gets.

I've found you can get some good conversations going near the AH and in the Training Hall. Learn some nice stuff.

"because people keep putting 1 crown as the starting bid for some crazy reason."

Just to guess, is 300 a unit a fair price for a two star crafting material? Not putting any up for auction just yet, but it's what I'd guessed at, given what I know about crafting.

I don't know, maybe. To be honest, it depends on luck and demand. Other than a few things I've gotten all the crafting stuff I use from monsters.

Really, I think the influx knocked everything to heck, will be a while before it stabalizes. Still, I think the most I see items being bought in trade channel for is 50 crowns. I'd start it there and let people fight over it to drive the price up.

Swordstones easily go for 1000 because people need tons of them for Calibur crafting, yet you can get them easily with 2 Forge Sparks. Mats go for what people will pay for em, honestly, and I have no problem if people milk the market for all it's worth. Heck, I might go and sell all my mats one time and see how many crowns I can get off of bid only auctions.

*shrug* I went for the two-star item I needed for some armor, and got three units of it for about $850. The bid had started ridiculously low before that. I figure it's a fair price, all told. Calibur only requires two of those, as do all the two-star recipes I've seen, so I don't see why the price should be as exorbitant as that — except for demand.

Heck, why are there so many people trying to sell Calibur and Cobalt armor recipes when the quartermaster is right there in the next area over, selling them for less? What logical reason would anyone have for selling one of those?

I saw a tutorial item, that you can buy for 150 crowns going for 1810 crowns on auction. No UV. I think some of the new players don't know enough or are bloody insane.

You mean Swordstones, right? If it's the Bronze Bolt I've got 30 of those. If you need some let me know. Actually, asking here for supplies might be good, always could have a case of "I need that, and you need this, let's trade."

At least if we weren't the only two consistently posting here. Come on, other Spiral Knights posters! I KNOW YOU EXIST! Either that or I'm just posting a lot.

Well, it has only been a couple days yet :p And yeah, I'd though that style would be how things would go, in general.

And I don't need Swordstones right now... the item I got more of was Grave Soil. Mostly it's just that the enemies it drops from are annoying, and Skelly sets defend against the very same critters. Oddly enough I have enough rare items for the Wolver set that I could make the whole thing and still have mats left over — if I had the recipes. I'll probably pick up some Swordstones later, though, unless Basil decides to have a Cutter recipe in a day or five.

Yeah, the market prices lead me to believe that some newbies are completely mad. At least there weren't many bids on the half-billion Caliburs.

Tell me if you need more of that Grave Soil, I've got some.

Oh, and my last AH story for a while: I saw a bid for a slime core starting at 25000 and a buy price of 25001. There was an entire page of slime cores with a starting bid of 1.

Well, for information on what to do, there's always the official wiki. They have a startup guide and everything, plus extensive information on crafting and drops. Just keep in mind that it might be a wee bit unstable lately due to the Steam influx.

Ah, ok. My ego-maniacal paranoia is relieved.

Yeah, I'll be glad to help you. I honestly haven't found that many jerks, but I usually play with people I know or solo rather than rely on public parties, so that probably explains it.

How would you recommend this to someone who doesn't really play MMOs (at least not in a dedicated fashion)?

each dungeon dive is about 10-15 minutes long, and the game limits you to 10 dungeon dives a day, and thats only IF you don't use your energy for anything else.

so it's really ok if you only want to play casually, as the game kind of limit's how long you can play.

So, essentially, it's an MMO that you can put a few minutes into each day and still do fine?

Hmm...add me on Steam, I'll have to get this when I can. (My Steam nickname is on my Troper page.)

I wonder if 20 bucks is worth it for the starter pack? if it's true that in the later portions of the game, it's easier to continue playing beccause you can just buy energy from other players. so 7500 energy to start with plus 5 mist tanks might be enough to catapult the player into that tier of play... I'm just not sure it it's worth 20 bucks :x

It depends on the energy market, doesn't it? The current market is such that you have to dump your entire crown count from a full Tier 1 dive (that's 6 dungeon floors with one floor of "break" in between) to get 100 crystal energy. Apparently this price is about half what it used to be, before the Steam influx.

I'm still going for the "free to play" side of things, at least until I reach Tier 2 and decide how things are going.

I'm at tier 2, you can get a fairly good amount of money from a tier 2 dive it seemed. Of course, that was a solo run where I didn't try to get all the money I could and I did die a couple of times.

And yeah, at the current market you can dump all of your money from a tier 1 run (actually you make a slight profit, especially if you hit two arenas and a graveyard) and get 100 CE, so it's a great time to get in on the game.

EDIT: I sent Serentay and Dynamod friend invites

I would be playing right now if the game wouldn't lock up entirely whenever I try to load into the bazaar.

This particularly sucks because I already have three star equipment (at least some, if I remember correctly, it's been a while since I played) from before it came to steam and wouldn't have to do any catching up if I was able to get online.

I assume you already tried verify cache and delete local content and reinstall, right? Or are you on non-steam version?

In other news, OH GOD FIRE. I thought I grabbed a screenie but apparently I failed... anyways me and Dynamod were doing a run down into Tier 2 and ended up fighting against 20-30 of the Burna Gremlins at once (I think I'll start calling em Orks, though, remind me so much of them) and the screen was nothing but fire.

Yeah, some of the fire attacks get into the completely fucking ridiculous category, which is probably what they meant by the fire technique bug.
