Also, I'm amazed at how well red wine went with my own cooking.

There's always some kind of electrical doohickey needing to be repaired, installed or taken out back and shot. Clearly the machine spirits care little for Canada.

Feh. Machines are only half of it, if that; more often it's pointless projects which serve no purpose and don't go anywhere.

What manner of cooking was this, Colonial?

Ah, an old favourite of mine. Pasta (fiori, to be precise), with a sauce made of onions, garlic, red wine, Italian sausage, and cannelloni beans, with a sprinkling of parmesan on top. Served hot, makes for excellent leftovers.

Mine is routinely asked for, consisting of what happens when you take the ingredients in bolognese sauce (onions, ground beef, tomatos, garlic) and carbonara sauce (bacon and sour cream) and make the sauce with those, the pasta itself being drowned in mozzarella, ham, parmesan, butter and comté. To finish one plate is an achievement, to come for seconds marks you for greatness, or so I'm told.

Find a girl, or get to be of a certain age, and you will have the incentive.

Find a really awesome recipe and cook it. Then you'll have incentive enough.

Once I stop having a family to cook decent meals for me I might find the incentive.

Or not. Roman noodles are tasty!

Every man needs to be able to cook for himself, brudda. The days of stay-at-home wives are dyng (though they should have been dead by the crowning of Queen Victoria, but eh) and stuff in boxes is terrible for you.

Food does taste better when you kill it yourself. Just be sure to use as much of it as possible. Fur, horns, etc. Hell, give the bones to the neighbourhood dogs.

Blasphemy! You can make very good soup on good bones.
