I'm... thinking that's a bullshit story, although if it is, Poe's law will be in full effect. Microsoft may be stupid but it's not THAT stupid. Right? Somebody?

I am calling shenanigans. Microsoft cannot possibly be this stupid. It's humanly IMPOSSIBLE!

...yeah, I'm pretty sure they can't limit things that specifically unless they purposefully coded their network that way. Once it hit the "We decided on this via obesity rates" it's obvious the article is bunk.

It's a satire website. Take a look at their other articles. This is just a parody of Microsoft's "some countries don't get an Xbone" shenanigans.

I guess we could go... wherever we please.

This quotation from the article makes me think it is bullshit:

“If you live in one of the states that unfortunately will not receive Xbox One support at launch, here are a few suggestions on what you can do,” said the representative, “You can relocate to a state that has Xbox One support, you can purchase an Xbox 360 which has no location restrictions, or you can wait patiently until support arrives at your state by 2015 or later.”

Nobody would be that stupid, condescending, arrogant, and Stupid Evil. Nobody.

Kudos to the mapmaker, if indeed it is a parody, as they were clever enough to put as non-Xbone states the ones likely to have the worst interweb access - Flyover Country, basically. Of course, the residents of those state are probably used to being screwed in this way - I get the impression the coastal cities are resented in the rural US in the same way London is in the rural UK.

EDIT: Ninja'ed, it was indeed a parody. Thank God.

False alarm? Okay with me, because if that WAS true, then there would be rioting in the streets.

Yeah I just caught that. Especially after reading this line:

Gamers in Washington, D.C., the capital of the US, have decided collectively against purchasing any Xbox One or Xbox 360 products as a form of protest. When we asked the representative about support in the capital, she responded, “It was definitely obesity and quality of life that made us decide they were not worth pursuing at all.”

I got suckered.

Well, I don't see the rumors of Alaska and Hawaii not being supported at launch as outside the realms of possibility, seeing as neither state is connected to the US mainland, but as for the others, they have no excuse and even Microsoft should know better (and may very well do, if this rumor is false outside of Alaska and Hawaii).

EDIT: And so it is false. But still, as I said, I wouldn't be totally surprised if Alaska and Hawaii were more troublesome than the other US states. Here in the UK, there are lots of companies which serve/deliver to England, Scotland and Wales, but not Northern Ireland, which isn't connected to the mainland.

I believe it was posted earlier that military folks are completely fucked by it if they are quartered outside the USA, due to region-locking, support, and the need for quick and regular internet. Not to mention security concerns.

It was stated earlier in this thread (or another) that the X Box One was welcome to the Tyson Zone. Now we have had a practical demonstration of what that means.

@Achameineid: actually,. even flyover country cities are resented in the rural areas. Its why cities have the highest population density yet the fewest votes in state senates because the rural areas have the sheer yardage.

The standard Xbone isn't in Amazon's top 100 Best Sellers anymore and there are an additional four versions of the PS 4 among the top 100 now ranked at 7,8,9 and 43.

Anyone knows if there is a way to keep track on the Xbox One's performance after it goes behind 100th place? I can't see it anymore.

Found it. It's 103rd place

God damn, that was in mere hours.
