As I recall Fast Eddie said that the article will never be unlocked and it's being considered for being Flame Bait making it's existance rather pointless.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing."It actually reads more like "Spongebob antagonizes his highly strung neighbour." "
It doesn't read more like anything, because I made it up.
"Only Sane Man doesn't mean "highly strung neighbour" but you are conveying that the highly strung neighbour is the Only Sane Man."
Only if you know what an Only Sane Man is to begin with. Otherwise, you're conveying that Only Sane Man has something to do with a highly strung neighbour.

I'm a Troper!!!We could PM him about this thread and see if he likes it being redefined in order to drop the flame bait (which means no real life section, in case that hasn't already been brought up).
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. But it's a Real Life only trope.

Regulated fun - the best kind! I don't make the rules, just enforce them with an iron fist.I mean if we merge the trope under discussion into it, then it would likely become just about fictional characters in order to avoid the bashing that got it locked.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Well, yeah, that much is obvious.
Regulated fun - the best kind! I don't make the rules, just enforce them with an iron fist.^ It was filed in a category called "Incorrect, Unclear, or Misleading Wicks," not merely just "Incorrect Wicks."
Sink Holing the trope Ted Baxter under the words "idiot sheriff" is 100% unclear and misleading as to what exactly Ted Baxter is supposed to be for anyone who does not already know what the trope is; and even if someone does know what a Ted Baxter is, it's still completely confusing. It's just plain terrible form and should not be acceptable.

Which still doesn't change that it only conveys that the idiot sheriff is a Ted Baxter if you know what a Ted Baxter is to begin with. Even then, it could still be mistaken for misuse.
And, as mentioned above, the category was "incorrect, unclear, or misleading", not just "incorrect."

I'm a Troper!!!And anyways, whether or not it is "X is an idiot sheriff", my point was that potholing Ted Baxter under "idiot sheriff" because the idiot sheriff is a Ted Baxter is like potholing Only Sane Man under "bad musician" (or "highly strung neighbour") because a bad musician (or highly strung neighbour) is the Only Sane Man.
I shouldn't have said "I don't know whether the character is a Ted Baxter" though.
I'm a Troper!!!If I were to rename this, Legend In His Own Mind would be the term I would use.
It seems Merge with Small Name, Big Ego options are dominating here.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Small Talent Big Ego or Legend In His Own Mind sounds more accurate.

I'm a Troper!!!Do not merge with Small Name, Big Ego. Am not for a rename or merge.
Small Name, Big Ego is mostly about fiction writers (real life) who believe their work is above all others, or You Tube video-ers who believe they're God's gift to the Internet.
Ted Baxter is a pathetic fictional person who thinks he's really quite good. Like sister trope Al Bundy, but believing himself to be great.
Except we already have an example lockout of Small Name, Big Ego, and that name fits the Ted Baxter trope perfectly without being a character name.
Besides, the whole reason there's an example lockout on Small Name, Big Ego is that the trope currently is about real life creative producers. That leads to the kind of complaining that led to the lockout in the first place.
As such, all it's really doing is taking up space, so why not repurpose the name to something more worthwhile?
Can we stop repeating the same thing over and over and do this already? The crowner is more than clear here.
Regulated fun - the best kind! I don't make the rules, just enforce them with an iron fist.Is there a difference between the top two options on the crowner? I would like to help make the rename, but I am a bit confused as to how the merge is to happen anyway so I would greatly appreciate some more clarification here. I apologize if the plan is obvious and I just missed it.

"irhgT nm0w tehre might b ea lotof th1nmgs i dont udarstannd, ubt oim ujst goinjg to keepfollowing this pazth i belieove iN !!!!!1 dThe definition has been transplanted to Small Name, Big Ego, along with all the subpages. I removed most in-article mentions of Ted Baxter and the Real Life section. We still have the Ted Baxter Close Up trope, which I'm not sure if we should touch.
Regulated fun - the best kind! I don't make the rules, just enforce them with an iron fist.^ What about wicks? Old wicks reflecting Small Name, Big Ego's original definition should be scrapped and wicks for Ted Baxter should probably be switched over to the new name.
Yes, I already brought it up in the SNBE thread. There's a 1700 wicks total, so we need to start from somewhere.
Regulated fun - the best kind! I don't make the rules, just enforce them with an iron fist. This still hasn't been merged as per the crowner results.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. Dick^ As I recall, everything from the original Ted Baxter page was moved over after the Small Name, Big Ego page was unlocked. Recent edit history, however, appears to suggest that Fast Eddie relocked Small Name, Big Ego and removed all of Ted Baxter's examples... even though they were perfectly fine under their old name.
EDIT: There's also This thread from last month when someone brought up the same exact occurrence. Eddie agreed to allow examples from fictional works to be included on the page (and this appears to have been done), but, nonetheless, some time recently, Eddie appears to have removed them from the page again.

Crown Description:
What would be the best way to fix the page?
That sandbox article is still generally modeling examples (even the ones that are "cleaned up") as Complaining About People You Dont Like; the "small name" bit is also liberally used to refer to people widely known and immensely successful in their respective fields, including Orson Welles and Marlon Brando.
There's no way that page has any real chance to become a full-fledged article.
