I think the message of the joke is that there is something eerie to (at least some) males about the nature of female biology. I would say it is stranger for those with less of an understanding of, well, the biology of it than for those with more of such understanding.

I suppose that reflects interestingly, then, on how one interprets specific aspects of the opposite sex (whether biological or psychological aspects) when one is not that sex.

[up] Neo probably nailed it. I mean, I know I've always thought that male anatomy was strange/eerie. I mean, doesn't that shit get in the way when you walk/run? Doesn't it bounce around and get caught between your legs? Do you have to wear little crotch bras?

I find boxers are actually more comfortable; there's not enough weight on it to make the bouncing around uncomfortable. (It also helps that the penis isn't as naturally bouncy as boobs are.)

Unless it's erect, then that really hurts. But usually it's not erect.
