So, I guess Deckard can't be in the prequel, seeing as he hadn't been created and had his memories implanted yet.
Well, technically, the movie was ambiguous on the matter.

But still, breaking that mystery is a bad idea.

Blade Runner is an overrated movie, but a sequel or prequel just won't work.

Overrated?

Only if you're expecting a SF actioner. ...which I was. I think the point where the film lost me was when Deckard orders Sean Young to repeat "I want you" over and over.

Sometimes I think Roy Batty's speech is the only thing saving Blade Runner from mediocrity. It's good technically and it has some interesting philosophical notions, but the story fails as a vehicle to convey that stuff.

I'm optimistic. I imagine it'll be a spin-off, like that Prometheus thing he's making.

My only real problem is that it will most likely be filmed digitally and have CGI effects. *sigh* No matter how good they are they just look fake and unrealistic.

It also is a jarring contrast to the origonal film's effects. I think Star Wars prequels would have been much improved by using the same film and effects as the origonal trilogy, better done, but still the same.

And they'll get a Hans Zimmer ripoff to do the music instead of Vangelis. Get ready for the Inception sound yet again.

I feel indifferent towards this, seeing as how barely anything is known so far.

I give Ridley Scott the benifit of the doubt. Robin Hood was abysmal (WWII with the Merry Men!), but it's in the hands of the original creator who should be able to know better. Then again, Michael Mann did make the abysmal Miami Vice film...

[up]I hope he turns them down. Not to go all purist but Deckard's story had a finite conclusion. Deckard returning would just stomp all over the ambiguity of the original.

Though they can work their way around that. Maybe this movie is a Midquel to the first one (somehow).

Just had the 'Final Cut' on BBC. Forgotten how fantastic the soundtrack was.

Criticising it for not being an SF action movie is like criticising Casablanca for not being a WW 2 action movie, chasing for the travel papers. It defined the genre.

id would be surprised if harrison ford turned them down, unless hes suddenly developed integrity. hes been in some bad movies and really phoned in his performances lately.

sorry to necromance an old thread, blade runner is the stuff so this is interesting

[up]the final cut is the definitive version for me. that ending...

Hey I got an idea!

How bout they make a movie out of the book Blade Runner?

Luke, I've never read it and I heard it sucks but it honestly sounds like an interesting premise tbh. Obviously they can't call it Blade Runner but, I dunno
