That reminds me that I should try to find my notes from a seminar with one of the devs. It was a regular programming seminar but it had some nice info about the coding of ME.

I can only hope there is a true-sidescroller iPad version like the first got.

In my opinion, First Person is better in some cases. Black Op's campaign wouldn't have been near as fun in third person. Strangling the Big Bad in first person view is, exilerating.

Mirror's Edge is better in First Person.

I'll show you:

First person is more amazing.

^ While I agree that FP is more amazing , TP looks ridiculous because the animations are made to look good in FP by exaggerating them in ways that are more noticeable when not in FP.

First Person also causes motion sickness is a sizable percentage of humanity. Just from a medical perspective it's probably better to have options.

Didn't they add a spot in the middle to counteract that? Did that not work? I wouldn't know since I wasn't affected in the first place.

Never heard of that, and I still get motion sickness... so probably didn't work perfectly anyway.

If motion sickness was a real problem, FPS wouldn't sell so well.

In my subjective opinion, platforming is quite awkward from an FPS perspective. I want to know where my feet are at before I jump.

It's something you have to get used to.

It's supposedly why they don't in Asia at least.

@ Clarste It was an option, it had three modes: Always on, Only when armed, Always off. It put a small white spot with a blueish outline on in the middle of the screen, I think concept behind it was that you would always have at least one fixed point at all times.

Huh. And here I thought the end of Mirror's Edge didn't have room for a sequel, what with Faith -SPOILERS SORRY THEY DONT LIKE ME SO I WILL ADD THEM HERE- and her sister being shot to death immediately after the scene cut to credits by the army of heavily armed soldiers ten feet behind them that the ending forgot about.

...

Win [awesome].

Its obviously the whole plot of ME 2.

EDIT: Fuck, why dosnt the spoilers work now? -.-

What you mean the 3-5ish guys that could easily be taken out by the white haired guy(Miller?) that you don't hear from after entering the server room(there is no reason for him to be dead). And I also thought that they landed on a lower platform giving them a chance to get away.

Modern FP Ses are so slow it isn't a problem.

I really liked ME and hope they deliver on the sequel. Hope they don't change up Faith's character design too much - it's rare to have such a cool female protagonist who isn't all sexed-up.

@The Proffesor: Of course it's more amazing in that, because that's not oriented correctly. It's still not a side-scroller.

Watch and learn:

I still conisder First Person more amazing. In some cases, Third person is better, but when used correctly, first person is an awesome view point. Bioshock, Mirror's Edge, plenty of FPS campaigns, they all would have been worse if it was in third person.

The point is that if Mirror's Edge was in third person, it would just be another platformer. Mirror's Edge is interesting because it's platforming in first person, not the traditional third person.

Not really news, but interesting none the less.

So, who wants to wager that Mirror's Edge is the next Duke Nukem?

I would totally be very interested in playing Mirror's Edge, if it just weren't for the 1st Person Perspective.

If you play both Portal games first, it will ease you into "jumping around in First Person" and you'll be very happy.
