Man, I didn't think it was possible to go Bloodier and Gorier than Mortal Kombat otherwise, but wow!

Bloodier and Gorier, but also deeper than usual. T His game looks far more substantial than usual.

I know. Shame I have to keep myself from pre-ordering it, since it'll be about £40-£45. I'm surprised, I asked them and they said you only have to deposit on preorders if you are getting a big title...

I don't know whether to Squee or Suick about the game. Maybe both!

Also, Johnny Cage looks like he'll be more of a monumental douche.

Which will make him more fun to beat the crap out of. I dunno where they got the idea he was the main character.

Think they're gonna try for a good explanation of why Kratos is there, or are will they just treat him as a guest fighter?

I don't know, and as a 360 gamer, I don't particularly care.

But on the subject of Cage, I love beating him up, but I hate killing him. Feels like I'm murdering a misguided movie star.

Thank God, an MK 9 thread not started by Miru.

So who's willing to bet you can finally feed opponents to the Living Forest?

I reckon Noob looks damn cool in HD. (Yes, my mind went to Noob when Smoke is mentioned. Yes I did play Deception before anything else.)

Noob comes free with the game, can't get much cheaper than that!

Besides, if anything's cheap, it's the way I spammed Icy Teleport => Icy Counter in MK vs. DC, keeping them guessing about whether I'll beat the shit out of them of let them beat the shit out of me so I can beat the shit out of them.

BTW, why do people keep saying that the dismemberment isn't a gameplay mechanic? You rip off their arms, they can't punch anymore, they need to get by with kicks. Thats a gameplay mechanic.

Footage of Mortal Kombat 9's mission mode https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYDRPjyFMRU

It's 300 missions, done like the Event mode in the Smash series. They appear to include everything from Test Your Might to winning a fight when neither player has arms to playing beanbag toss with Stryker's grenades. In addition, there's a zombie version of each character as well.
