I tried searching forum topic titles for 'translation' and 'translated.' Since I did not see a similar topic, I decided to create this one. So I apologize if I missed a relevant thread.

That said, let's say a genie appeared before you, and let you have one wish: one video game would be available in your preferred language by January 1 2012. So if you were given that choice, what game would you choose?

Additional things to consider...

  • Be sure to mention if the game you want is long out of print, or if it's only available for devices which are no longer being sold. In that case, the imaginary translation would have to be created by fans.

  • But if the game you want is available for a device that is currently viable, make that clear. State what company could theoretically release it.

  • Be sure to mention what your preferred language is. It doesn't have to be a translation into English. (It's amazing how many famous, important video games are only available in English and Japanese.) State if you want a game that's already available in English to be playable for people who read Italian, or Thai, or Klingon, or anything else.

  • Finally, don't take this topic too seriously.

I'm not sure how much of a joke that is.

[up] I have hopes that's coming.

My first thought was Tales Of Graces, and then I was like...oh. Then I thought Tales Of Vesperia PS3, and then thought "...nah, that game's terrific, but I wouldn't want to waste this on something I've already played the hell out of." So I'm thinking...Tales Of Destiny R, for the PS2, into English. Maybe as a PSN HD release or something, along the lines of what they're doing with the Sands of Time and Tomb Raider trilogies.

The Gegege No Kitaro games. And the manga. And the anime. And the movies. Just the whole thing really, but this is a game thread so the games.

Fire Emblem 12. It's one of my favourite series, but there's been no word on an English release for this title at all.

The GBA remakes of Shin Megami Tensei 1 and 2. Although honestly what I'd really want is a heavily rebalanced PSP/DS remake.

But somehow,

Namco X Capcom. Strangely enough, i've already played as the protagonists in Endless Frontier. And they are awesome.

Honestly i have next to no clue what the gameplay's like. I don't really care. The Massively Multiplayer Crossover appeal is just too strong.

[up]FYI its like a combination of a Turn-Based Strategy and the gameplay from Endless Frontier.

Speaking of Banpresto stuff, the Super Robot Wars Orginal Generation PS 2 remake, or Super Robot Wars Z, or any/all of the Alpha games. Licensing be damned.

Just one? Well, I've recently been replaying the Super Robot Wars games that came out here, and I'm going to have to vote for Super Robot Wars Z in my native English. And in the theoretical universe where this could actually happen, they'd probably be pressured to release the (upcoming?) direct sequel as well...

Live A Live.

Now, you may say "out of print" but because of the Virtual Console, that is a moot point.

So, the one releasing it would be Nentendo/Square, via the Virtual Console.

I'd probably agree with Tales of Destiny R actually. I love Mother 3 but Tomato and co. did a good job so I wouldn't waste such a wish on that.

@anondeug Yeah, I really do wish that SOMEONE would get it into their heads to translate more Ge Ge Ge no Kitarou. Apparently it's just too obscure for the scanlators. There are a few scanlations by that guy who runs Obakemono.com, but not really very much. I'd especially love to see a translation of the GBA game, which I hear was actually pretty good.

I think I'd have to go with either Tales Of Hearts or Tales Of The World: Radiant Mythology 3. Regardless, I'd probably pick a Tales game.

@ Ralphrius Well. Um. Perhaps I should break my personal embargo on Legitimate Means, like I'm thinking of doing with Mother 3... and, erm, beat the first RGC.

Okay, if that one is covered, how about the Wiiware Pokemon Mystery Dungeon set? It's one game for the price of three, so it should count as one.
