Ah, yeah, I always misread/misremember that name.
It's a good album, but I kinda feel just okay about it. But, then, that's how I feel about a lot of stuff from OCR. The good remixes they have are spectacular, but others tend to be boring or meh. I know there's one track on Project Chaosnote that's just an overlong piano piece that a) sounds nothing at all like the original track, b) has no discernible melody or direction, and c) is just really boring and feels like a mediocre pianist messing around. I looked up the song to see what the site had to say about it, and it was even pretty poorly reviewed in the submission process, so I don't know how the vetting process didn't lead to that one being left off the site in general (forget being on the album).
Aside from that, though, too many generic electronic or metal remixes on the site. They have good genre diversity on the whole, but those seem to show up way too often. I mean, I guess those genres are generally pretty popular with nerds and gamers alike, but still.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Still, it sounds like Cash Cash may have been inspired by Malicious Fingers when he made the Big Arms remix for the 3DS version of Generations :DD
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! They outright ripped it off. Being a rock remix is one thing, but having the same cues and nearly the same improvisations in the same place just strikes me as uncreative.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.I could have sworn the long solo bit was quite different though I might be mistaken.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! It is different enough and I don't see how it's a rip off honestly. It's also an incredible remix and probably one of Cash Cash's best, coming from someone who isn't too crazy about them.
Better than their song "Michael Jackson" at least.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I like that song.
Because said track was a remix of Ice Cap, I suspect (part of) the reason it got middling reviews is because Ice Cap Zone is considered one of Sonic 3's best songs, so people were expecting something more... high-octane I guess? We ended up getting a slow piano song instead, which probably upset some people.note
The only song from that album I really am "meh" towards is "Elevator Music" for Launch Base Zone, which was my favorite track from Sonic 3 (even more than Ice Cap).
Still, I did download the recent album. Hopefully it'll be just as good as their Sonic 3 one, but I'll have to listen to it later.
EDIT: Oh, I should say that I'm only assuming you're talking about "That Freezing Feeling", since the only other piano song I can think of (off the top of my head; I'll have to check later) is "Schumacher Bar", which is a piano version of the VS Menu music from Sonic 3, but that remix actually sounds a lot like its parent song in a lot of places, unlike "That Freezing Feeling".

Yeah, "That Freezing Feeling" is the one. This is the thread where I saw it going through the vetting process. Still, most people are saying "NO" to it, so I still don't understand how it made it through.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Honestly, i really couldn't care about OC Remix.
I prefer the Crush 40 songs. What can I say, I love rock n' roll!
Answer no master, never the slave Carry your dreams down into the grave Every heart, like every soul, equal to breakSpeaking of music, do we have any idea who's composing music for the Sonic Boom games? From what I heard in the trailers, it didn't sound too impressive...
I don't know about that yet. But as long as the gameplay lives to be above the hype, the music shouldn't be too much of an bother to me.
Answer no master, never the slave Carry your dreams down into the grave Every heart, like every soul, equal to breakRichard Jacques is composing the soundtrack... for the 3DS version, at least.
The very same of All-Stars Racing Transformed and Saturn 3D Blast fame.

Eh.This.
I looked up Malicious Fingers after someone told me Big Arms Generations was a rip off, and I kind of see it but don't really agree. They're both electric guitar remixes of a preexisting song that follow the original arrangement very closely, so yeah - they're going to have a lot of similarities. But making a good electric guitar remix doesn't give Snappleman sole claim on the concept. Where the two songs differ from the source, they're actually quite different.
Likewise the second part. I dislike pretty much all of Cash Cash's songs in the console version, but I love the Big Arms remix. That and the Stardust Speedway bit they did with Jun Senoue.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I have never liked 100% of the music on any album by anyone ever. There's always at least one boring track or one that I don't like, and the 10+ albums that I have from OCR are no exception. But that doesn't mean I'm going to remove their music from my computer and/or stop downloading it.

Ice Cap was awesome because the sample for it was the 80s song "Hard Times" by The Jetzons. The keyboardist later worked with MJ and must have added his samples to the S3 soundtrack.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Yes, we all know that by now.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I never heard the comparison, so it's new to me. That is remarkable.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI did not know about the comparison either, so that's a great find.
Oh, and I forgot to comment on the answer to my earlier question, but Jacques is/was one of the Sonic series' regular composers, along with Jun Senoue, Fumie Kumatani, Kenichi Tokoki, and Tomoya Ohtani. He tends to compose for the spin-offs more often than not, but he's also worked on Sonic Generations' and Sonic and the Black Knight's soundtracks.
So, not too shabby. I guess Shattered Crystal should be fine in the music department then.
While we're on the topic of music in the games...
