This could've easily been avoided if valid criticism wasn't met with immediate defense toward the game..
As if it was really necessary.

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Well, it can be only valid if it can be an universal thought, but even so, you should know that you can't judge a book by its cover and this game is no exception, not to mention that other elements of the game should be explored as well other than design.
The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy.Universal agreement doesn't exist...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.But still, Sonic Forces has received its own share of bashing (both fair and unfair) compared to Sonic Mania, so let's just try to see what the "new" part of Sonic can bring for us that we like instead of keep thinking Sega will never do 3D right.
The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy. It's not "new"...it's still the Boost Formula.
We've already seen what they can do with it, Sonic Forces "so far" looks to be doing worse...

I should also add that for every game people have said "JUST WAIT AND SEE" for, the people who didn't like the game before they played it didn't change their minds after. Imagine that.

Frankly, this whole praising and criticizing prematurely thing is stupid on both ends. Really, waiting until the final game is the best thing because at least talk then has merit.
Til then, everything is just first impressions and speculation, and those are wont to change.
A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh.I just got done talking about how first impressions usually don't change when it comes to Sonic games. If you don't like what you see, chances are you're not gonna like playing it.
Well, isn't that just the entire point seeing it in trailer time?

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Nothing is wrong with that. You're allowed to have one. I'm just saying if it changes, it changes. It doesn't, it doesn't. But you won't know that for sure until the final product. Bottom line.
A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh.People aren't just going to wait to have an opinion because the final product will ultimately be different from its initial showing.
So it doesn't even matter.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I'm not saying they shouldn't have an opinion; just that they should reserve ultimate judgement until the game's actually released. For example, "Honestly, going by the trailer, the game looks like it'll suck ass, buuuuut I guess I won't know for sure until it comes out." There's nothing wrong with having initial impressions, but saying 'it without a shadow of a doubt is going to suck' before anyone's even played it just seems a wee bit too premature for me.

So is "trying to give the game a chance". It's not that I have a problem with people who are genuinely excited for the game, it's that these same people who parrot "WAIT AND SEE" towards early criticism are the very same people to claim how amazing the game is on the same early content.
It's blatantly hypocritical and whenever it's pointed out, people get defensive.
If I have to "WAIT AND SEE" on judging a game prematurely, then that goes for others who like the game too. Otherwise, just agree to disagree and stop trying to deflect me from how I feel.
This is one of the most annoying traits of this fanbase that I've had to deal with through the years and I'm kind of tired of it. So if you don't like that I'm ripping on this game, then that's honestly your problem.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.This. That's exactly the point I'm trying to make.
So it doesn't even matter.
That's their own fault then.

A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh.Look, Shadow's level is a DLC level, this is probably them taking the existing GHZ and making it harder however they can.
There's also the fact that it fades in just as Shadow hits a checkpoint, so this isn't even the full level.
Is it a bunch of blocks and using 0% of GHZ? Yes. Is it filled with homing attack chains? Yes. Does it look like it has a do or die moment at the very end? Maybe (who knows there might be a floor at the bottom). Is it entirely 2D? Yes.
I'm still excited for it, and I'm still looking forward to the final game.
I do writing, feel free to check out my stories here! https://numbugwritingblog.tumblr.com/post/686233243868102656/numbugs-shared-heroic-uniThat's fine. I personally think it looks dull and uninteresting, but if you think it looks fun, that's cool too.
Now can we go back to talking about the series now?
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Yes, we can.
The Sonic franchise hasn't been good since Sonic Mania! >:V
I do writing, feel free to check out my stories here! https://numbugwritingblog.tumblr.com/post/686233243868102656/numbugs-shared-heroic-uniI find that, in moments like these, it's always a good idea to reflect on how beastly this franchise's music is. If I had to grade the ten most memorable (vocal) songs, I'd go:
- 14) Supporting Me (Biolizard Battle Theme) - Sonic Adventure 2
- 13) All Hail Shadow - Sonic 2006
- 12) Diamond in the Sky - Sonic R
- 11) Believe In Myself (Tails' theme) - Sonic Adventure
- 10) Sweet Passion - Sonic Adventure, this jazzy, R&B whatever-you-call-it always gets my attention
- 9) Work it Out - Sonic R
- 8) Opening Theme - Sonic Heroes
- 7) Oh come on, you knew this was going to be on here - Sonic Adventure 2
- 6) Endless Possibilities - Sonic Unleashed
- 5) Seven Rings In Hand (Steve Conte version) - Sonic and the Secret Rings
- 4) Reach for the Stars - Sonic Colors]]
- 3) I Am All Of Me - Shadow the Hedgehog
- 2) Fly In The Freedom - Sonic Adventure 2
Meanwhile, the songs without lyrics would go something like this:
- 12) - Lava Reef Zone Act 2 - Sonic Knuckles
- 11) Green Hill Zone - Sonic 2
- 10) Stardust Speedway - Sonic CD
- 9) Hydrocity Act 1 - Sonic 3/Mania
- 8) - E-102 Gamma's theme - Sonic Adventure
- 7) Ice Cap Zone - Sonic 3/Knuckles
- 6) Casino Park - Sonic Heroes
- 5) Planet Wisp - Sonic Colors
- 4) Vela Nova - Sonic Rush (pretty much the only song I actually remember from any of the handheld Sonic games)
- 3) Flying Battery Zone - Sonic (& Knuckles)
- 2) Chemical Plant - Sonic 2
Vocal songs
- 1. Live and Learn
- 2. Un-gravitified (Crush 40)
- 3. His World (Zebrahead and Crush 40)
- 4. Endless Possibility (Rockestrate)
- 5. Knight of the Wind
- 6. What I'm made of
- 7. Fist Bump
- 8. Escape from the City (Modern)
- 9. Livin' in the City
- 9. Can You Feel the Sunshine?
Non - vocal songs
- 1 Crisis City (Modern)
- 2 Seaside Hill (Heroes)
- 3 Rooftop Run (Modern)
- 4 Egg Dragoon (Unleashed)
- 5 Nega Egg Wisp
- 6 Aquarium Park
- 7 Ice Cap Zone

Where there's life, there's hope.Never thought that Knight of the Wind would be your top song, but still, nice one man.
The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy.I've been digging the SA 2 remix of Unknown from M.E. as of late.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Hallo peoples. I'll cut right to the chase here; I've never considered myself a Sonic fan, never played any of the games, don't care about the fandom and have largely been indifferent towards the franchise as a whole. However, as of late I've been watching a lot of Let's Plays of assorted Sonic titles - most of them 3D - and have realised I like a few of the characters and the games themselves might be worth a try.
So if you were to recommend a Sonic game to a series newcomer such as myself, which would you pick?
And, incidentally, while you're on the topic of Sonic music, that's something I'm marginally more familiar with. Believe it or not, one of my favourites is Dreams of an Absolution - and the original techno-poppy version, at that. :V
"If you think like a child, you will do a child's work."Sonic 2, Adventure 2, and Generations are a good bet. Signature games of each "era." You may not like all of them, but that's the nature of the franchise.

Where there's life, there's hope. For getting into the series, I'd definitely play play Sonic 2, Sonic Generations and maybe Sonic Adventure 2. A good but uncomplicated sweep of all the different types of gameplay the series has had.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.
The thing, there has been enough bashing from it already, why not give it a chance until it comes out?
