Where there's life, there's hope.I was referring to this. I didn't know you snatched the last post of the page from right under me.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Ice Cap is a pretty dope level isn't it?
Pretty good.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.The only things keep it from being 10/10 is that the snowboard is automated and the sliding onto the ice block thing.
Where there's life, there's hope. Some, as the kids would say, dank level design:
I'm re-rerunning Sonic 2 at my college right now and Emerald Hill is frustrating as f'ck getting all 7 emeralds and never getting hit.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Ice Cap also sounds the most like authentic dance music. The bass and lead are pretty realistic for the limited sound capability. Barring Streets of Rage of course.
"No will to break."Speaking of Ice Cap's music, have you ever heard this? It's not a mashup, it's an unreleased track by The Jetzons that was eventually made into the Ice Cap Zone theme.
Reminds me of when I found out that Ice Cap's music was based on one band's unreleased song a couple of years ago. EDIT:
Music aside (and I still prefer Launch Base's theme over it), I can take or leave Ice Cap itself, even though I feel like it'll probably be another Classic stage for Mania.note

And tonight on Fleetway Masterpiece Theater, Sonic once again gives us his oh so treasured Turds of Wisdom (TM):
TAILS: Wow! Look at the size of those ice lollies!
SONIC: Hmph. Your tails obviously outnumber your braincells, dimmo!
Aside from the fact that I'm not even sure 'dimmo' is a real world, the thing that really bugs me about Fleetway!Sonic is less that he's a total Jerkass, and more that he gets away with being a total Jerkass. He treats everyone like shit, Tails especially, but everyone more or less just shrugs it off and treats it like it never happened. No-one ever calls Sonic out on his bullshit and general fuckery, as if they're all in on some sort of collective one-sided abusive relationship, with all of them together on the receiving end.
The comic doesn't know that Sonic is a Jerkass. If it did, well, he still wouldn't be likeable, but at the very least, he might still be a lot more tolerable and maybe even kind of interesting, but as is, he's just a prick that gets away with being a prick, with nothing else to him. It's a miracle the comic is still fun to read even with that in mind.
That said, I've been looking ahead a bit, and at least as far as the online continuation is concerned, he does get his comeuppance, and HARD. Spoilers, but one of Robotnik's former henchmen Grimer arranges a special news report that makes Sonic's dickery plain as day to all of Mobius, presenting him as a villain even worse than Robotnik. And the thing is? He kind of has a point. Sure, Sonic still saves the day, but it'd be nice to be treated like an actual human being while you're being saved, which Sonic seems to simply be incapable of. The end result is that nearly every single person on Mobius outside of Tails and Cream (yes, even AMY apparently has it out for him now,) turns on Sonic and considers him just as bad as Robotnik, and as far as I can tell, this hasn't been undone yet. On the one hand, you'd think they'd all be a bit more trusting of him considering all they must have been through by that point, but on the other hand, you really can't blame them. I'll have to see for myself just how they handle it when I get there, but honestly, Sonic had it coming.
Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundYa know what's funny, there are people like Gareth from FTCR who love how much of an ass Sonic was in Fleetway and how people just rolled with it. Word of God apparently even said that Sonic being a colossal dick was entirely intentional. Hell, Sonic was more popular in Europe far more than America for a time. Maybe it's a EU thing.
Probably intended for him to be an Unsympathetic Comedy Protagonist.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Lots of ways to interpret Sonic, but... he always kind of was an asshole. He was marketed on being a hero with an attitude. One of his commercials had the "Segas-does what Ninten-don't" slogan.
Sonic was hip, cool, aggressive. When he popped up on the start screen what was he doing - looking at the screen with a smug grin. He has a sign with his face posted on it and he wags his finger at the end of the level. He has a plane with his name on the side and has Tails fly him around in it - the guy is a pure egomaniac. When he shows up in Black Knight what does he do immediately after arriving - oh, an evil knight and a damsel, let me casually toss my chili dog in the air before finding out what's going on. (to be fair, had Merlina just let Sonic battle the villain then the game would've been shorter)
Sonic Boom capitalized on this by making it his character flaw.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!To be fair, that was mostly an Americanized thing; he was more or less your standard, upstanding Shonen Protagonist on the Japanese side, particularly from Sonic Adventure onward.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Even US Sonic is a boy scout compared to the chav that Fleetway!Sonic is.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!@Dimmo: Being American, it's hard for me to tell what's real UK 90s slang and what's fake youth-like slang made up by adult writers.
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.x4 Eh, maybe, but even then, he still tends to be a Jerk with a Heart of Gold rather than a total Jerkass. Even in the games, he can be cocky, insensitive, and maybe even downright rude at times, but he usually never goes too far, and he certainly doesn't go about calling his best bud 'pixil brains'. It's as if the writers for Fleetway took one look at Sonic's idle animations and decided to use that as the entire basis for his character, rather than trying to make him, I don't know, likeable. It can be a fine line handling someone with as... colorful a personality as Sonic's, and just what direction you tread on that line can be the difference between making him someone you want to root for, and someone you want to punch in the face. (Guess which one Fleetway!Sonic is?)

Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundSonic strikes me as the sort of feller who cracks puns a lot.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!I'm on Launch Base Zone. It's a pretty exhausting stage, and 3 bosses back to back?
Where there's life, there's hope.Well, it is the Disc-One Final Dungeon.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.3 bosses...unless you're counting act 1, there should only be 2 bosses.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Or she's playing the Sonic 3 version, rather than the lock-on version.
Actually, Sonic 3 & Knuckles skips the Big Arm boss for some reason, but you fight it in the standalone Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

Hi.
A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh.Yes it does...or it did, Randomness had all 4 games to lock-on.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.
What's that? "Plug FTCR some more"? Will do!
