The description on Sonic Official on Twitch said that they'll be showing off many classic Sonic games, so the 25th anniversary livestream isn't the only thing they'll be showing off apparently.
maybe by then they'll fix the audio issues

And yet again the comment section is filled with the Sonic is dead idiots just because of a bad livestream. I know this is a rather poor showing for something produced by a big company like SEGA but were in the hell are these idiots pulling out the evidence that this bad showing must mean Sonic is dead or needs to die? Seriously? Is this just another display of Insane Troll Logic?
This is even more confusing for me considering we know Sonic Mania is a thing. Even though I am not a Classic fan (I have played Classic games and enjoyed it but I certainly don't think it was the best enjoyment I got out of the franchise) I am still rather intrigued about that game and I certainly hope they don't somehow fuck it up. If it's good then I will certainly buy it....
Formerly known as Bleddyn And I am feeling like a ghost Resident Perky GothFinally beat the original Sonic the Hedgehog for the first time.
Green Hill Zone was good, but I feel like the game actually punishes you for going fast sometimes.
I've heard Sonic 2 is better so I'm looking forward to that!
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeIt punishes you for going fast in a rushing sense...pacing yourself is the key.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.i wasn't even rushing though
the game just doesn't like it when you go fast, given the numerous points where you have to literally sit and wait, or when damaging obstacles pop up after a loop or something and i have no way to predict they're going to be there.
don't get me wrong, i liked the game, but it's hardly perfect
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeI was constantly refreshing the pages for the discussions on 4chan, seeing their responses to the livestream. It was glorious - perhaps the best way to experience it.
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.IIRC, Sonic 1 was the worst in regards to stopping speed. Sonic CD (my second favorite of the 2D games) has that problem to an extent, but is also a more adventurous game in general. I can't recall if 2 had that problem (which likely means it wasn't there) and 3 & Knuckles was probably the best in that regard (except for one stand-out zone that's really bad).

This song needs more love.Yeah, Sonic 2 has far less obstacles in many stages, but still has points where you need to take your time(Wing Fortress Zone will punish you at some points if you're not careful).
Metropolis Zone may be the slowest stage outside of the one right before Wing Fortress, though. But that's due to some rather jerkish enemies that'll hit you quite often as is(they're quite hard to dodge, especially the mantis one). It's why it's disliked a lot. The music and boss of it are pretty neat, though.
Sonic 1 was easily the worst classic game when it came to pacing.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Labyrinth Zone should've came 2nd like intended, you wouldn't be saying that then.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I can't tell if that's sarcasm or not.
It's not.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.The only two levels in the first game that reward speed are Green Hill and Starlight Zone.
Labyrinth Zone would be an even worse choice; it's the slowest zone in the game.
It's a shame Mania and 2017 are being developed simultaneously. If it does to turn out to have the Generations bring-back-main-series-stages gimmick, I'd really like to hear a Modern interpretation of Studiopolis because holy crap that song is amazing.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I doubt they're going to remake levels this time around. Otherwise, there would be no excuse they have to not say this is Generations 2.
I'm expecting a completely original game with the Generations formula (Classic and Modern gameplay). Maybe they'll even throw a curveball and come up with some way for both Sonics to interact in the same level.
I'm guessing that 2017 might be a sequel or something to Sonic CD
the entire trailer evoked the same aesthetic as the Future parts of CD, we haven't seen Metal Sonic take a prominent role in a while, and the Time Stones or whatever would explain why Classic Sonic can meet up with Modern Sonic.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeI always thought the Generations concept would work well with a CD type plotline.
Oh man, so what are our biggest expectations for Sonic Mania?
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I'm imagining a game where the Big Bad turns out to be Metal Sonic teamed up with Classic Metal Sonic (or one of the Mecha Sonics), having usurped Eggman in the future or something ('well, that world's fucked!'), and it sounds wonderful.
I still think Heroes should've ended with Metal creating his own knockoff Team Sonic instead of (or in addition to) turning into a giant monster.
I had a cool idea of a Sonic game where the same level is played with two different acts/characters/gameplay styles a la Generations, and if you beat one act first it would affect the way the second act went. That could be cool for 2017.
That, and/or you could see the other characters running through the background of the stage doing things that you would later get to do while playing as them.
Kickass music. Bright colors and/or neon lighting everywhere. And lots and lots and lots of Sega Mythology Gags, apparently.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! In the games at least we already have seen two robotic/Eggman created counterparts to Tails and Knuckles of Team Sonic. Aka the eponymous Tails Doll and Mecha Knuckles.
Of course Eggman could of just been idiotic enough to try making a Metal Tails and Metal Knuckles as well. He's made the mistake of remaking Metal Sonic before with the same exact AI.
Formerly known as Bleddyn And I am feeling like a ghost Resident Perky GothHe didn't remake Metal Sonic...he just took away memories, thas all.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Still wouldn't of worked. Metal Sonic is a sentient AI that learns rather quickly. Removing his memories will just set back his inevitable betrayal for a small bit of time...

I could tell that they were at least trying. The sound was audibly being messed with at times.
This song needs more love.
