General Sonic The Hedgehog thread

Aw, that article's title misled me into expecting Sonic to be compared to Rocky Balboa.

Just this morning I discovered the TrueSonicSpirit Channel, and it seems to have some interesting things to say about where the "quality" in Sonic stories is supposed to be coming from.

That "True Sonic Spirit" is something to be avoided.

I've encountered that movement in a few other places, and they're a confused mess.

For the umpteenth time, Sonic is not a character action game, which is what Platinum does practically exclusively. That style of beat-em-up gameplay wouldn't suit a series about clearing levels really quickly.

Not to mention naming such a game Adventure 3 would be disingenuous at best, since that name carries with it preconceptions of what type of game it's going to be.

For the umpteenth time, Platinum can do more than just stylized beat em' ups.

They did a space-faring RPG on the Nintendo DS at one point for pete's sake!

And they're making Star Fox Zero.

If anything, I feel like it's making me want them to develop a Sonic game even less. Never could get into Star Fox games.

They're making an action-RPG (with like, zelda exploration and shit) in Nie R Automata.

The only Platinum game I've played is The Wonderful 101, and, well, y'all know how that went.

Those things don't really connect.

Like, if it was all animated like the new R&C movie I'd have hope for it but live action and animated is just begging for trouble.

I was expecting a more in-depth article talking about why live-action/animation hybrid get alarm bells ringing, like how lots of Live-action/animation hybrids of known children characters tends to be bad, and how one can usually tell if something looks fake or not, but the article just brought up THE KISS.

Because 2006 is the game to look at when making a L-A/A Movie, of course!

"Animated/live-action video game adaptions" rarely happen anyway.

This isn't news. We've known about the film for like a year or two. Gaming websites just either didn't notice, or are eager to remind everyone what a lousy place the franchise is in (conveniently ignoring good games like Colors or Generations, in a few instances).

Actually, we've heard about the movie, but this is the first time we've heard about a potential release date IIRC.

We first learned about the movie's existence back in 2014. I can only guess that it's being re-reported because we actually have something of a confirmation date now.
