How exactly would that work?
To each their own.
Come to think of it, I disagree with the assertion that post-Heroes Shadow was in any way broody, I've heard this claim before.
He was an amnesiac who wound up caught in a conflict between mankind, talking animals, and an alien race - and every side wanted him to do something for them. He handles this situation extraordinarily well, considering his primary motivation is a cryptic memory of a young girl being shot to death, and each ending involves him asserting dominance or independence over someone, either accepting, rejecting, or modifying this memory to rationalize or justify his own existence.
By the end of the game, there are at least 4-5 scenarios where Shadow is in a position to take over the world.
Which leads to claims of God-Mode Sue, but whatever, haters going to hate. I think this characterization was fine. Hedgehogs with guns isn't much more absurd than blue hedgehogs that can't swim.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!@Soble: It's reasonable to expect that many of the classic/dreamcast-era Sonic games take place roughly in the same years they were released. Gerald Robotnik 50 years ago would have been a East European scientist who decided to side with the US-like GUN states. However Robotnik never shows any sign of a Russian or Czech accent, suggesting he probably managed to get a lot of his studies done in the GUN countries and renounced any ties he might have had to the USSR.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! As much as I like the theory of Gerald being a Russian defector, there's almost nothing to suggest it's true. He could just be an American or whatever of Russian decent, hence the lack of accent.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?It makes as much sense, since the time period is consistent with McCarthyism going on anti-Red witch-hunts in the US. After the ARK debacle, Gerald would almost have certainly been doomed by such policies.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Welcome to World Politics, with your host, Sonic the Hedgehog!
(I'd pay to see that. It'd be the Marios Time Machine of the Sonic franchise.)
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.More likely that Eggman be the host.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! That might actually make for a pretty funny short.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. But Rouge found the computer room first
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.MUST KEEP BLAZE ON TOP- oh look it's pretty close. A close loss is good enough for me.
I'm not sure whether to vote for Rouge or Vector, though... Wait. I despised Rouge in Shadow's Game and Sonic 06, this should be easy!
I do writing, feel free to check out my stories here! https://numbugwritingblog.tumblr.com/post/686233243868102656/numbugs-shared-heroic-uni...I could've sworn Blaze was in the mid-30s just a few hours ago...

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guySo you're saying you didn't despise everyone in those games?
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Well 06 everyone's just boring :P
Shadow is a game I'm in the minority opinion with.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.As cool as Blaze is, I'm not surprised she's losing to a character who's been around for far longer.
Now I thought the problem with Sonic is that fans keep trying to control things and this sends SEGA mixed signals, preventing them from crafting a solid, single-player experience?

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Concerning Eggman's competence, I have to agree. Part of me thinks it's people wanting to enforce the comics and Satam's concepts as canon (and even in those Robotnik had to be plot enforced to look competent a lot of the time). He's Not So Harmless, but he is very much a buffoon.
I don't get the supposed downgrade either, if anything he's better in the recent games because he can hold onto a plan and it requires Sonic defeating him for it to be foiled. In the Adventure games, he was doomed from the beginning, the "real" villains used him as a patsy. Hell every single antagonist in SA 2 tricked him for their own means, even Rouge would have easily got the Emeralds if she wasn't opposing Shadow too. In Heroes he wasn't even active, his best lackey realised he was better doing it himself, and then Chaotix made their Butt-Monkey.
In contrast, Generations Eggman pwned pretty much all of them and kept Metal as his subordinate, while Lost World's opposing villains had to await an opportunity to get from under Eggman's thumb rather than playing him for a fool the entire time. Yeah, Sonic treats it like it's no challenge at all, but Sonic's always smug. Sonic keeps up the mocking banter when he's dying.

...Wasn't that an entirely different Metal Sonic altogether?
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyI think it might of been the original Metal Sonic from the Classic Eggman now I think of it (Metal Sonic back in those days was a lot more willing to go along with Eggman's plans, atleast that's up until his AI started acquiring a lot of information when functioning). Not to sure though as I haven't played Sonic Generations in a long while.
The game is vague about it, especially since Metal Sonic has gone back to looking like that since Heroes. It doesn't help that Shadow, Silver, and Egg Dragoon's fights occur with the modern versions of those characters rather than time relevant versions.
I wonder what that says about Perfect Chaos...

Well admittedly Eggman likely could rebuilt a Modern Metal Sonic after he was destroyed back in Sonic Heroes but put a leash on him for obvious reasons...
He wasn't destroyed. He reverts to his original appearance at the end of the game.
Didn't know that...
In the British Sonic The Comic, Robotnik ruled Mobius for about 90 issues before being outed when Super Sonic caused a global blackout. Later, he briefly became a god with the power to destroy Mobius, before Knuckles shrunk him to smaller than an atom.
Given the amount of times I bring up the British comics with no prompting, maybe I like them... a bit too much.

De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.
I always thought it was a wasted opportunity that Eggman should have had at least a mix of American/Russian sensibilities since it's quite clear that his name indicates he has a strong East European ancestry and suggests Gerald was a Cold War defectee. Unless he completely rejected his East European heritage and decided to be his own person.
