Well, you don't. And you won't. There is no such thing as radioactive spiders, being bitten by one won't make you part spider. You're never going to get x-ray vision or mind levitation powers because such things are physically impossible.

You are never going to have psychological "Glamor powers" that make people have sex with you.

So why bother creating hypotheticals for things that just aren't?

Because it lets us mere humans dream of being something more. We are a very boring, very, very dull species who needs a machine to do anything for us. Inside, we resent this fact, and so we dream of having powers, thus becoming...more than human. Though we talk badly of Eugenics, that was an underlying goal: transcending the limits of these fleshy blood bags, doing something without a machine.

I may not ever get superpowers, but if I live long enough there is a good chance I'll end up a cyborg  ^*

Humans always wants more. Before there were any aeroplanes, people have legends about having wings and fly. That is impossible but then we build machine to fly. We couldn't have x-ray vision, but we are perfecting a machine to do it, and by all means I believe that was at least partly inspired by comic book heroes.

It's an interesting question. That's why we ask.

Besides, *some* superpowers are plausible...

Not only that, but technology is coming a long way. Certain abilities relating to intelligence and strength, for example, may very well be achieved.

There are also powers that are skill based.

Because I desperatly want to have something, ANYTHING, that would let me exceed the limits of my pathetic, disgusting human body and be something special, instead of jus tanother fat loser who spends his time surfing the Internet, because he hates the outside world so much that he wants to strangle people for making eye contact.

I would also do anything, anything, to make it so I am never so weak again that people can pick on me. I want to be more than just another human.

But seriously, there is nothing in the world that can be proven %100 (including this statement ). So you never know. One day we very well might develop super powers.

So while you have absolutely no imagination and cannot fathom the power of human invention, it doesn't mean everyone else has to as well.

Why bother having fiction at all? it's not real, and it never will be real. Why devote an entire website to tropes that aren't real.
