There appears to be a group of editors who insists on reverting any mention of the recent Playstation3 hack. I can understand not wanting to promote piracy, but there's a huge difference between that and simply reporting that it has been hacked at all.

It's a bit odd that our article is more heavily censored than even Wikipedia.

You can report that it's been hacked without going into detail about how. And that's not censorship, by the way.

Erf. Looking at the history, at least one of the people doing said editing seems to come from the Digital Piracy Is Evil camp and believes in "security through obscurity". This may require Mod intervention.

I agree that it belongs as part of the console's history. I however am wary of touching it myself, because I am...not neutral on the subject.  *

Looking at it, they didn't really go into much detail. They didn't tell anyone how to do it. They put less than most new articles on the subject. They just stated what happened in a sentence.

The aforementioned "Security through obscurity" types are also editing other people's discussion comments to remove any reference to piracy that they deem overly specific.

*looks* Ok, that sort of thing really deserves a mod-thwack for the people doing it. Editing other people's discussion page posts is Not Cool, and it's the place of an actual mod to decide if it's over the line, not these vigilantes.

I agree. Acting unilaterally as mods is just bad. And editing other person's comments in the discussion page is incredibly rude. From what I could see in the history there were never detailed explanation of how to find said hack, just pointed it have happened.

Wow. Just...wow. Do they really think our page mentioning that PS 3 cracking is possible will increase it to any extent?

Edit banned the guy who was editing the discussion. If he comes to the forums to ask why, he'll get an explanation, and maybe a second chance. Also tightened up the section on the hacks, and inserted an admin comment to leave it alone. If that doesn't stop the warring, post in Ask The Tropers, and provide a link to this discussion, please.

I'm going to lock this now.
