Well, my city district voted for Prosser 875-772. To which I say
I don't remember who's who.
Joanne Kloppenberg: Assistant Attorney General, state of Wisconsin
David Prosser, Jr.: (incumbent) member of Wisconsin Supreme Court (since 1998), former member of Wisconsin State Assembly (18 years), former Republican majority leader (6 years), former Speaker of the State Assembly (2 years)

What were Prosser's chances before all this stuff with the law broke out?
Final Fantasy, Foreign Policy, and Bollywood. Helluva combo, that...So much for Wisconsin.
We have all of 6% of the vote and it's nearly 50/50. Unless someone has more info now?
its up to 51% and its still 50/50, and an even closer margin.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryI swear to god, it's Indecision 2011!
69% and Kloppenburg's winning by less than 1,000 votes. This could well head into Minnesota territory.
Rumor is that Jeff Stone has conceded Milwaukee county executive. :D
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryWell, last I checked Prosser is winning by a couple thousand votes with 97% of votes in. I guess Wisconsin law doesn't have automatic recounts; you have to request it. If the difference is less than 1%, it's free. If it's between 1 and 2%, it's $5 per ward. More than that and you have to pay full costs yourself. What I don't know is if the percent that's used is the statewide figure or applied on a case-by-case basis to each precinct (which would be stupid, but who knows?)
As of this morning, the AP had Prosser up by about 700 votes with all but 32 or so precincts reporting. Most of those precincts were in Kloppenberg-leaning districts, though, and then they have to do the absentee ballots and such.
No chance this is going to go without a recall, though. There's too much at stake.
"The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." - E. Gary GygaxDo you mean provisional ballots? Absentees are generally counted at the polls, at least in my experience. The poll workers basically open up the envelopes and feed the ballots into the machine.
Also, I think you mean recount, not recall.

Bah, yes to all counts. I was up too late waiting for them to call it one way or another, and I'm a zombie now.
Brains.
"The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." - E. Gary GygaxLol, I know how that feels.
Still, the fact that this is close at all is a pretty good sign considering it was supposed to be a blowout.
That's objectively true, but part of me is sad that it wasn't a definative win for Kloppenberg, because the state desperately needs a bold statement that Walker's shenanigans won't stand.
The fact that this wasn't actually a good test of that because Prosser's experience and history with the state vastly outmatches Kloppenberg's is immaterial in my head.
"The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." - E. Gary GygaxWell, this wasn't the place where the Dems wanted to stand their ground, since a LOT of people think that Supreme Court Elections are a horrible idea in and of themselves. Former RNC Chairmen Michael Steel managed to get Liberal Darling Rachel Maddow to admit that she felt that way. That could have influenced voter turnout for RAGING LEFTISTS to feel non-committed.
It's amazing just how hard it is for a democrat to get elected for anything in this country.
It is a little unusual, and I'm not surprised that folks from out-of-state aren't comfortable with it, but Wisconsinites just really like voting on things.
"The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." - E. Gary GygaxI'm very, very sad.
I try to follow these things, I wanted to vote, I even get shitty spam mail from the DNC.
And I still didn't know this was going on until late last night. So if you want to know why the efforts didn't succeed-that's probably why.
Why didn't anyone inform meeeee . I knew it was happening, but not when...
Look, you can't make me speak in a logical, coherent, intelligent bananna. In my observation, the problem with RAGING leftists is that they're too busy RAGING at even the smallest perceived slight, then use that as an excuse to do nothing out of an apathetic funk.

...You consider the removal of collective bargaining from unions to be a slight? What would you consider a SERIOUS issue, then?
Furthermore, I think Guantanamo must be destroyed. When the initial count is done, I expect to see a Kloppenburg lead of about 200 votes, with probably several thousand absentees waiting to be counted.
Some things to keep in mind:
- I think Wisconsin has same-day-registration. Not sure what this means for the tallies.
- I've heard that in WI you can vote absentee in person, this is basically early voting.
@ Deathjavu:
Whose state senate district are you in?
Also, if you happen to be following county-by-county results such as in this election results thread at Swing State Project, note the fact that some precincts are empty, making vote totals just that much more unpredictable.
Calm down, Tomu. You know as well as anyone else that any political endeavor that doesn't involve a presidential election is doomed to apathy from the general populace.
