Anachronox.
Many Western RPG Maker projects, because the default art is Japanese styled.
By "style", do you mean gameplay-wise or what?
Also, Costume Quest. But just go for Anachronox, the greatest "pure" RPG ever made.
Je Suis "Aware"I'm guessing art style, so ogre tactics would count as one.
Anachronox may not look like a JRPG, but it plays like one.
Frankly, it looks fine as it is, albeit dated by today's standards for obvious reasons. It's the humor that sets it apart, which the machinima made obvious. (And how could you not love quotes like this?◊)
If by style he means design, then why say "style and/or art"?
Je Suis "Aware"Its a pity Anachronox was designed as part of a trilogy, that got cancelled. . .
Home of CBR Rumbles-in-Exile: rumbles.fr.yuku.com2) Count as what?
1. oh my bad
2. A WRPG (game mechanics wise) with a JRPG art style. Yes I know that the W or the J in this forum only means which region the developer is in, but I pefer to define them by game mechanics instead.
Derp, I didn't see that part.
Well, actually, I'm not sure either. Art style is probably the most obvious possibility, but gameplay style...
How about this question instead: What western RPG games have animesque art?
Because, come to think of it, the question in my head that spawned this thread was actually this. Though by "style" I wanted to leave open the possibility of such things as WRP Gs that use the traditional JRPG top-down/birds-eye camera rather than the first-person camera that WRP Gs are fond of. And, say, keyboard controls rather than mouse controls. So, JRPG-style interfaces I guess, but just art is fine, while I'm particularly interested in the WRPG traits of open sandbox setting and highly-customizable player-character, so I'm interested in having one or both of those in a game.

Historically, the gameplay styles were Computer RP Gs and Console RPG, in order to make the differences between art and gameplay clearer. Presumably, you were asking for games made in western countries, but with Console RPG gameplay and/or Anime style artwork?
Je Suis "Aware"Perhaps it's better that I stop using the "western", actually, since you as well as others might have misunderstood it (even though I do want to play Black Sigil).
Thanks for giving me a useful non-geography-based way of referring to the two gameplay styles, though. :)
How about this instead:
- Console-style gameplay
- Animesque artwork
- Wide-Open Sandbox and/or unusually customizable main character(s)

Ultima, Fallout(1&2), Baldur's Gate, and just about every WRPG in the 90s that isn't Wizardy or Elder Scroll's. Not so sure about dem mouse controls.
Dragon Quest IX (from what I've heard of it, having never played it) may have what you're looking for. It's Dragon Quest, but it's more sidequests than rail roaded story, albeit still not quite a wide open sandbox ala Elder Scrolls, the characters are highly customizable and all forms of armor modify your character's appearance.
Yeah, honestly, you should just go play Anachronox. It sounds exactly like what you want.
Je Suis "Aware"The licensed GBC games for the first two Harry Potter books had a turn-based battle system and played pretty much identical to a JRPG overall. They were pretty good, too.
Is Anachronox the game that was made by the same guy who made Commander Keen?
And I might look into Septerra Core.
Yeah, Tom Hall had a big part in it. It's more widely known though for being by the same studio that did Deus Ex, almost certainly the greatest RPG ever made.
I didn't recommend that one though because it's a western cyberpunk adventure/first person/rpg/stealth/everything game and didn't really fit your criteria.
Je Suis "Aware"I can second Septerra Core. The combat was kinda slow, but it was very fun. My friend owned it back in the day, but I never got too far. If anyone knows where I could get (or "get") that game, could you shoot me a PM?
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadThe 3rd Harry Potter game for the GBA continued in the same tradition.
Also, Sudeki, an Xbox RPG that tried really hard to be a J-RPG but just fell flat. It's kind of fun.
Do they exist? And if so, can you name some?
Update: Here's a better phrasing of my question.
