Does this need to be VideoGame specific?: Bonsai Forest

I hate to nitpick, but my main complaint here is the title. I suggested Trees Not To Scale, but it appears the OP was more concerned with getting their YKTTW launched the minute the 72 hour launch timer was up.

It almost certainly needs a rename. Your suggestion seems good.

There does seem to be discussion that the name is not good. It looks like a Premature Launch to me.

I agree. It was marked as Needs A Better Title, others agreed and suggested better titles, and then they were ignored and it was launched under the original title. I hate that.

Renaming sounds good. I think Trees Not To Scale and Bonsai Forest are both fine names.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

I think the whole premise of this is unsound. There are lots of species of trees, many of which don't grow very tall at all. Generalizing, especially when most games don't even specify their species, just doesn't make sense.

[up] It's usually pretty clear when this trope is occurring. Look at ImageLinks.Video Game Trees Grow Poorly.

Don't we have something for stuff on the map not being to scale? I know we've got Units Not to Scale, but isn't there a related trope of parts of the geography and plants?

[up] I don't think another trope would be necessary for that. The reason the "other stuff" looks like it's not to scale is that the people are too big.

Also, I'd assume VTGP is about when the trees are the only thing that seem out of proportion.

Rename it, please. Something about video game trees in general.

I think there should be some attempt to distinguish between trees that are small due to actually being small (Animal Crossing, Runescape), and those that are small due to scaling (most RTS games, games with tilesets where a tree takes a single tile, eg Final Fantasy I).

The latter may or may not deserve its own trope  *

, but it should be mentioned at least.

I wouldn't be posting at this forum if I didn't think it a necessary step.

That's a Super-Trope, but good find nonetheless.

It's been a couple months and still at single-digit wicks/no inbounds at all. What say we go straight to alt-titles and put the current name in with the rest?

Sounds like fun, but there is the whole "due process" thing, and we get accused of being to rename-happy when we don't do the single prop crowner.

It's misleading, because there are cases when plants grow in game time. Rename.

The description needs a slight rewrite as well, since there are lots of trees that are naturally shorter than 15 metres (what excactly does "upper trees" mean anyway?) Trees that are shorter than 15m can still be misrepresented in videogames. Basically, it needs clarification as to which cases of tree qualifies, if it applies only to large trees in large forests then the description needs to be clear about that.

Consensus is to rename. Swapping to rename crowner.

I'm voting for Trees Not To Scale. Nice and clear and simple.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

Vote up names you like, vote down names you don't. Whether or not the title will actually be changed is determined with a different kind of crowner (the Single Proposition crowner). This one just collects and ranks alternative titles.
