I still prefer the Churchill - Blackhawk panels, since they show Churchill actually cutting the bad guy a check.

One problem with the current image is that it's really not all that recognizable. On the Nice Shoes page, we have a picture of the Ruby Slippers. Instantly recognizable. On the Butt-Monkey page, we have Charlie Brown. Instantly recognizable.

On this page we have...some character from some obscure webcomic reading a newspaper. The G.I. Joe webcomic actually uses instantly recognizable characters that the viewer can instantly relate to, even if they don't read webcomics, like me and probably a lot of other tropers.

[up]As long as it demonstrates the trope, how recognizable it is is irrelevant. That's not the point of an image.

And if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know.

[up][up] I don't think you should assume that characters from GI Joe are "instantly recognizable" to the world at large (or indeed, to anyone outside of your culture, gender, and age bracket).

Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!

Eh, that's just them talking about losing money. This is about the realization that, with that much money, they could just be normal citizens.

...No, this trope is about how they could use their genius for personal profit without doing silly things like robbing banks.

I just realized we never pulled this picture.

Motion to pull image.

Image doesn't show trope, image only shows something tangentially related.

Yeah, I'd pull it.

Seems like it's probably crowner time, since the discussion's been going for months without any apparent consensus.

I think that the Shortpacked example is by far the best one so far. I mean, it basically hits the trope on the head.
