Getting this on PC. It'll be a good test of Sovereign's hardware.

The first was really damn good. Prophet's Nanosuit? I hope the survivors from the first game (and O'Neill from Warhead) are alright.

^Soveriegn? Is that a hardware brand or your name for your computer?

Also, I might get this if the PC/Steam version is sandbox-y like its predecessor.

The latter. I'm saddened Nazara didn't have more lines, so I have to make do with a Harbinger sound set.

It's not a spoiler to notice how incredibly gratuitously evil the suit voice sounds now, is it? It sounded sinister in Crysis, but now it's just every Alien Overlord ever.

(You mean the voice giving you orders is secretly manipulating you? I haven't seen a plot twist like that since every other FPS made in the last four years!)

I've never liked that fucking suit voice. Did it always give you goal info?

Oh shit. This one has conciousness.

Your orders in Crysis came from regular human beings with regular human being voices.

wild mass guess Based on Prophet's "You are all I can do" line and the "We are all dead men walking" from the trailer:

wild mass guess Alcatraz is actually clinically dead, and being puppeted around as a glorified gun caddy by nanomachines and alien viruses. Sort of a final commentary on the silent FPS protagonist. wild mass guess

Except all of the Crysis main characters have voices in-game, and Alcatraz talks in one of the trailers.

EDIT: Watched the trailer. I came.

Also, still no sign of Nomad or Psycho. Hopefully this'll be rectified.

I'm also left wondering where the hell Nomad and Psycho are. At this point, they're either dead or don't show up in the plot 'til later, when the Ceph are more openly raising hell for humanity in general. If they haven't been infected, they might just provide some much-needed assistance for what is looking like the usual grim battle against technologically-advanced aliens.

Big Damn Heroes moment coupled with the Nanosuit invincibility of the Allies you had in Warhead?

I'm seriously thinking about buying this one, just not sure whether to get it for the PC or PS 3. Last thing I wanna deal with is DRM; even Star Craft 2's "watered down" method was a pain in the ass as it was.

Steam's DRM doesn't suck balls.

Also, wouldn't the virus infect the interior of the Nanosuit?

Ah, I was wondering when somebody would notice that detail. It's even more of a fridge logic moment when you realize that just a few minutes before in the game one of your squad mates stated that you shouldn't be touching infected bodies, even dead ones, because of the risk of contamination!

Got a feeling that the story in this one isn't going to win any accolades...

I think it might be that you won't get infected, but if someone uninfected comes into contact with you...

Which is most likely why the CryNet mooks were after Prophet. They do call him a biohazard, after all.

Yeah, I was wondering how putting the suit on Alcatraz was a good idea if he's trying to pass it on to someone who isn't infected.

Hell, maybe he wouldn't have been infected to begin with if he'd have just kept the damn mask on all the time in the original Crysis. I would think that the nanosuits have good enough filters to keep any nasty viruses out, alien or otherwise.

(Hey, maybe that's a good sign for Nomad. Since he ALWAYS wore the nanosuit mask, unlike everyone else, presumably because he's the one whose face you don't need to see...)

^Well, there was the console demo, I think.

There's also The Leak, but I think it's probably better to be hush-hush about it. Still, I wonder how Crytek will handle this, and if they'll pull a Valve Software and change stuff.

Supposedly, stuff in the beta that got leaked was already cut for Half Life 2, but that sounds kinda... convenient.

Plus, we're damn close to the launch date...

Crytek might have to do something...drastic. Maybe a PR salvage attempt?

C2's on consoles, they probably won't worry very much. Piracy's a problem for any PC game ever, anyway.

[up]That sure as hell isn't Prophet's original voice actor...for that matter, it's not the same one I hear at the beginning of that Crysis 2 leaked beta video, who's the same voice as the one from the original game.

But this new guy he's pissed about...looks like he runs Crynet and has some sort of conspiracy going on, along with the usual Xanatos traits. It's as if they're suggesting that he's behind the virus, he also sold the North Koreans some nanosuits while the US wasn't looking, those nanosuits have some sort of effect on the virus (or, worse, may be the source of it), and while Prophet thinks he's waging some sort of hidden war against the Ceph, we all know how conspirator types tend to collaborate with the very factions you think they're fighting.

One thing's for sure with the release of this trailer-they're not letting the efforts of that author they hired to write Crysis 2's plot go to waste, by any means.

I hope so. Pyscho was awesome, and Nomad wasn't too bad. He stands to get a lot more character development now that he's out of the spotlight.

Oh well, found out that the PC version does have DRM. Dammit, this would've been the perfect game to test my new rig on.

Does anybody know if the Steam version will just have the usual Steam-styled DRM (i.e. connect to the internet just once to confirm that you own the game)? It might not be too bad if that's the way it's run.
