That's a really dumb way to conflate completely separate issues.

Blizzard makes games. People on mobile devices play games. Ergo, making games for mobile devices is a good business idea. The reason for the Diablo Immortal shitshow is that everyone was hoping they'd announce a new PC game and turned their disappointment into foaming bile, as only gamers are able to do.

People on the Internet hate everything. You can't build a business model around that.

Frankly, I'm not even sure that D4 is justified at this point by the potential revenue, but I'm going to check it out at least.

That makes at least two of us, although I'll probably wait until after it's been out for a while before making a final decision. (D3 faceplanted spectacularly at launch, after all.)

As for D3 itself, it seems a given now that there won't be an Act 6 or a new character class, but they are at least adding new content to the existing framework, including a new armour set for each class (the current PTR is piloting the new Crusader and Monk sets, Aegis of Valor and Patterns of Justice; consensus is that they need major DR tweaks to be endgame viable) and a swath of new Legendary abilities (particularly for Barbarian in the current PTR). It won't bring people back if they've drifted away (especially not after the events of the past few weeks), but it's keeping the game interesting for those of us who haven't drifted away.

I've managed to clear Level 90 GRs in under five minutes with all seven character classes at this point, thanks in no small part to the Legacy of Dreams gem they introduced in Patch 2.6.6; my ultimate goal is to get to Level 100 with all seven, and it's probably already possible for most of them, but I'm planning to improve my chances with some augments first.

So even if I'm the only person left at this site who is still playing Diablo III, it's still one of my go-to games for playing online with friends.

My usual groupmate and I (it's just the two of us since the third member of our group set the game aside through a combination of RSI problems and being burned out on it; the three of us still play Overwatch semi-regularly though) got a bit too gung-ho in Not the Cow Level earlier tonight and, for the first time this season, got a 1000 kill streak that summoned the Uber Diablo whose existence Blizzard have carefully avoided mentioning in the advance press about the season. Our Paragon levels were in the low 700s, so it took us about fifteen minutes (and about 20 or so deaths each) to finally wipe out his HP... and all for three each of the bounty materials from all five acts, plus a nominal amount of Death's Breath, Blood Shards, and a bounty-exclusive Legendary (in my case, a Cloak of Deception - and I'm playing a Crusader; my groupmate got a Coven's Criterion - and she's playing a Wizard).

I got another Bovine Bardiche later in the evening; we agreed that on our next trip into Not the Cow Level, we're going to make a specific point of not racking up a 1000 kill streak. Not even to see for ourselves that Uber Diablo can also drop Greater Rift Keystones, or a full set of Infernal Machines. Once is enough.

(I've seen a few videos that have pointed out the dangers of racking up a 1000 kill streak on Hardcore mode... have to wonder how many people have been caught off guard by that!)

In a bit of surprising news, Diablo (the franchise) is under new management...

Is the new management a good thing, a bad thing, or just a thing?

So from what I've seen, this guy (Rod Fergusson) came from the Gears' studio went and took over the supervision of the franchise after numerous failures from Blizzard.

I could see that working in the same style as Castlevania.
