That story is a hell of a lot creepier on a second reading.

Plus, I think it helps contribute to the story's lovely misdirection. It's great to read something that makes you go "Wait, what was the point of that ag- OH SHIT!"

Oh really when?Businessmen sometimes that they eat less skilled businessmen for breakfast. Hopefully, the ability got a bit confused there.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"What's the opposite of a twist ending?
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableGorgeous video, but a bit too similar to the first one IMO.
My favorite part was when the clock started bleeping louder and louder.
Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianBogleech just published the winners of it's creepeypasta contest as well as a shitload of other reading material.
I haven't read much yet but I liked this runner-up. Kind of gruesome, but has a cute ending. Dental horror should be more of a thing.
This one didn't win anything, but I thought this was a bit of a gem. Brief, unclear, and disturbing: just the way I like it!
Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianCan someone please explain The Rat King to me?
I read the Captain's Log from that winners list, and not really that creepy, IMO.
Does anyone know of things that are similar to Windows 95 Tips, Tricks, and Tweaks?
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableI am genuinely surprised that Sonic.exe has been mentioned here but not Tails Doll who definitely was his predecessor as he was created before Slenderman (Slenderman ironically went under the radar when he was initially created, his creepypasta was largely revived due to the horror survival games trend) and Ben Drowned.
Albeit the original Tails Doll origin story was a old April Fools joke that was perpuated by a bunch of paranoid kids afraid of the dark.
If anything there is some definite truth that the fan-art of TD, Sonic short easter eggs, and Archie's depiction of him was what truly made him scary.....

No real list of top 10 Creepy pasta has been attempted, has it?
lol
lolMeh, I am just really rambling here out of amusement out of how some people revere certain Creepy Pastas. When they first started to appear many years ago they were funnily enough always dismissed as hoaxes (they still are but that is not my point) and anyone who was scared of them were just called a kid who was scared of his own shadow.
Oh the sheer irony with all the creepy Fanart and games for Slendy, Ben Drowned, Tails Doll, Lavender Town, and Sonic.exe actually be accepted as legitimate scares...
I find the description of Slendy as having initially flown under the radar hilarious, all things considered.
That is all.

The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableForgive the necro, but I just finished Penpal and I immediately needed to post something somewhere about it. Pretty incredible / terrifying stuff.
You could easily draw some themes from it about discussing the traumas in life rather than pushing them aside. Our page for Penpal points out that so much of this could have been avoided had the police been brought in and Dathan told his mom about more of what happened (like the trip to the old house to get Boxes).
Also something about not blaming yourself for things that aren't your fault. Near the beginning, I remember Dathan being afraid to talk about the stuff because he felt guilty about it. This ties into the other theme. That is, if you blame yourself for this kind of nonsense you might not talk about it as you should and just look what happened because they didn't talk more about it!!!
Tragic. Terrifying. But meaningful, I'd say.
Also, here's a great quote from near the end:
"Our minds work to avoid dissonance—if we hold a belief strongly enough, our minds will forcefully reject conflicting evidence so that we can maintain the integrity of our understanding of the world."

I'd have personally cut the "maybe he has a psychic ability" line. I think it would've seemed more natural for him to just ask what his deal was instead of (correctly) guessing it before asking...
