I got that the "Metronomic" part was meant to refer to the back-and-forth motion, but this trope has nothing to do with Mooks or massacres, so it's a bad, bad case of Awkward Acrobatics In Attempt To Achieve Added Alliterative Appeal.
Since it has no wicks and no inbounds, I think we can safely give ourselves carte blanche to rename, so let's brainstorm some titles.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Considering it's got fewer wicks than examples, I think we had a false start launch.
Fight smart, not fair.Hows this a different trope from Grievous Harm with a Body?

I think Grievous Harm with a Body involves smacking other people using someone as a club, where as this is picking someone up and smacking them into the ground, preferably on alternating sides.
What Balmung said. One is using a person as a weapon. The other is a particular way of delivering a beat down to one person.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickIt's not just hitting them on the ground though. It needs to be an arching side to side motion like a metronome.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickWould at least changing "Massacre" to "Mashing" be an improvement?

Metronomic Mook Mashing does sound more indicative of the trope.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickBetter, but the trope still has nothing to do with Mooks.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Too vague. It needs something in there that says it's a person. Metronomic Man Mashing?
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickHow about "Pendular Person Pounding"? Or "Pendular Person Pummeling"?

Seconding Pendular Person Pummeling (or Metronomic Mook Mashing for the matter, but the first one is far better).

Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google?Pendulums typically hang downwards, which doesn't really fit this trope unless the victim is being slammed against the ceiling.
Rhymes with "Protracted."In addition to the naming issues, the trope specifies that the person doing to the swinging needs to be small. I don't think it should need to be a requirement. That seems overly narrow to me.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickYeah, that requirement can probably be dropped.

Rhymes with "Protracted."Tweaked the description a bit. How does it look?
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickPretty good; I did a few more small tweaks since it's used in video games as well as animation and the one doing the slamming isn't necessarily a superhero (Bamm-bamm being a prime example).
That looks good. It's a much more inclusive description now. I think the original was the result of someone only being able to think of one example and writing the trope based on that.
The new version looks much more like the whole trope.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickSimple Harmonic Beatdown?
This may only be funny to people who've done a fair bit of maths...
I love it, but not everyone knows their physics. Also, springs also produce simple harmonic motion.
Simple Harmonic Motion makes me think of things bouncing up and down. Not swinging side to side.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickFair enough- the first example I saw for SHM was a pendulum, so I tend to think of that.
Crown Description:
Go on, Guess That Trope Definition. I'll wait.
...
Apparently this came through YKTTW last August. There are enough examples that suggests we have something to work with, but consider this:
This title has brought 4 people to the wiki from non-search engine links since 20th FEB '09.
Something needs to be done, and I think a better title would be a great start.
