Against all tyrants. If we go with "one keyblade for a party," GM's character must be one to use it.
Other idea, if you already approved all these chars, to let them have keyblades for calling dibs on 'em first and lock keyblade option for anyone who join later.
DO NOT PURSUE LU BUNew Troper here, and new RPer as well. In the interest of not flooding the character creation with discussion topics, I’ll say two things.
First, I’d like to join. I’ll get a character sheet going later on, when I have good resources available to actually make a good OC that fits the KH mythos.
Second, I’m with Legionnaire on this one: Keyblades should be out. I’ve played a few KH RP’s before (by no means a veteran of RP’s; I haven’t RPed in years), and that usually leads to a lot of God moding and unoriginality. Some of the characters on the character creation page are pretty original to begin with, which is incredibly refreshing to see.
Either that, or keep Keyblades in, with set restrictions. For example, we (the audience) don’t fully understand the potential of the Keyblade until at least KH 2. There were also apprentices in KH: BBS, which assumes that Keyblade “noobs” exist at one point in time, and that a great deal of time goes into mastering the Keyblade and the powers of the heart. Should Keyblades be kept as a RP mechanic, players should start with just obtaining a Keyblade, and thus aren’t super powered Gods, “chosen ones”, or Badasses from Day 0.
Just a thought.

To sum everything I suggested earlier:
1. To be or not to be.
Variant 1. No keyblades allowed.
Variant 2. The only keyblade is for GM.
Variant 3. If GM is going to play canon character without keyblade, let keyblade to those who already called dibs (not so many people, I checked) and no one more.
2. Keyblade rules.
2.1. Keyblade is effective agains Heartless as much as any other weapon and magic. Heartless can be destroyed by any weapon (mere presense of keyblade in town enough to give heartless final death, regardless of which weapon strikes them).
2.2. Other then for fighting, keyblade can be used for opening locks - any locks that can be opened by skilled thief and no more. Come to think of it, skilled thief must be better for this then keyblade.
2.3. No droping keyblade, going on the other side of the town, and warping it in your hand again. No. Just... No.
2.4 No shooting lasers from keyblades. We already have magic in the setting, that should be enough.
As optional rule I would say no dualwielding keyblades. And no "drives." (Sora: 'Im gonna fuse with pantsless duck!')
DO NOT PURSUE LU BUAs I am one of the few with Keyblades, I do regret to say that not having keyblades does makes sense. We'd need a legit excuse to be able to kill heartless with other stuff though.
Also, GM, do you have a set plot in mind, like, completely concrete? Cuz if not, I'd like to run a character-based idea by you. I'm flexible though.
Thank you for curing me of my ridiculous obsession with love!We can kill Heartless with other stuff, as we've seen with pretty much every character that has a weapon. The difference with the Keyblade is that it's stronger, and they stay dead.
Against all tyrants.According to 358/2 Days, a Keyblade is needed to destroy the Heartless, else they reform elsewhere later.
There are too many toasters in my chimney!Um...yeah.
I'm not skilled at GMing , and my schedule's packed, so...
No. ALG, fire away.

if you're not that good at GM'ing and you're worried about scheduling, perhaps you might think about assigning a co-GM.
There are too many toasters in my chimney!Exactly.
Who wants to volunteer?
I will! I'm on the forums obsessively!
Thank you for curing me of my ridiculous obsession with love!OK, but I don't wanna see Kaito turn into the Spotlight-Stealing Squad.
I'll do my best. :) I'm very conscious of that kind of thing, it is my worst fear.
If anyone else wants a shot, though, I'd be happy to step aside.

Thank you for curing me of my ridiculous obsession with love!I'd do it, though I'm not actually signed up yet. I mean, I'm not prejudiced towards any of the characters, and I know a lot about Kingdom Hearts.
But since I'm not affiliated with the RP, I dunno if you'd want me to.
There are too many toasters in my chimney!AH'M GONNA LAUNCH
