Cons pulls out a rope and baize rod with nine chords fixed to the top, each end of the cord has a few barbs fixed on it. He hands it to Alys.

Constantin: Recreation of a Napoleonic era Delcatty o' Nine Tails. The barbs were a later development to maximise the pain per flog~
