-Steelix is heavily shaken by the Earthquake, but takes less damage than one might expect, mostly due to sheer size-

<Clever, but ultimately hopeless.>

Jasmine: Steelix, use that trick we were working on!

Steelix: <My apologies—> -swings tail out, cutting off Spectrum's escape route-

<—but a battle is a battle.>

- Heading to the gym -

Eli: (thinking) I hope I can fight without my would-be-self by my side...

Jack took the womans hand and accepted her offer to help him get back on his feet.

Jack: "Your bird is crazy. But you probably knew that already, didn't you?"

Runt: [Thinking Out Loud] "He thought you were in trouble and "recruited" us to help."

With a sigh and a moment of self-composition, Jack held out his hand to introduce himself.

Jack: "As long as I'm here, names Jack. Jack Jackson. So who happens to be the individual that has to put up with this guy all the time?"

Oh yes, Clockwise is completely insane. He named my Rotom Beedrill, and his daughter is... eccentric. But he's a sweetheart, really.

Yeah. Not sure how useful Eli will be seeing as Morty's mons seem to be Gastly line members from what I've read, and Sunburst only knows four attacks at this point.

Olivine Gym

Spectrum is bitten... and her Red Glasses flash briefly as they absorb the attack.

Spectrum: <...Indeed it is.>

Eskay nods, and Spectrum takes advantage of Steelix's proximity, slamming her tail directly into it.

Ecruteak City

Morvas: I want to know, because if I hear them spreading rumours, they will come to regret it.

Crow: "Nice to meet you, Jack. I'd introduce my Pokemon if any of them were out right now, but since they aren't..."

Jack nodded and offered his hand out for each of the other people there for a proper introduction.

Jack: "At least I can say it was a different experience. I don't normally fly from place to place. I've got Runt here to do most the long-distance transportation for me."

Runt: [thinking out loud] "Or Groot."

Jack: "Yes, or Groot. So do you meet new people like this very often?"

Steelix: <I don't know what you pulled just there, but you'll regret not taking your chance to escape when you had it.>

-Steelix swings its head back towards Spectrum, using Dragonbreath-

Jack: [chuckles] "At least it's good to know there's not serial abducting Noctowl on the loose."

The mild laughter at the potentially non-existant joke came to an end.

Jack: "So if you don't mind me asking, what was all going on here before I showed up?"

Well, I was wondering where my Noctowl was.

Spectrum: <Agh!>

Spectrum's face is covered in draconic soot as she's blasted with Dragonbreath

Spectrum: <I didn't need to. But thanks for the advice.>

She shakes off the soot, gets some distance, and uses Earthquake again.

Crow: "We were waiting in line for tickets for the train because Tagg's Xatu was going to teleport us to Saffron, but he's apparently vanished."

Runt, while still seated on the ground, casually raised both his arms up in the air.

Runt: [thinking out loud] "Guess who's got two arms, can teleport, and is sitting right in front of you? Any guesses?"

Olivine Gym

-Steelix hisses in anger as the Earthquake brings it to its last "legs"- <Burn.>

-and lunges forward, spraying Dragonbreath wildly in front of itself-

Runt clapped his hands together - or at least what passed for a hand clap for an Abra - and pointed both his hands at Straw.

Jack: "I'm not sure if we could get everyone in one go, but I'm sure it wouldn't be too much trouble to take you there ourselves over a couple trips, give or take."

Olivine Gym

The unconcentrated spray makes the attack undodgeable. However, it also decreases the power of what does hit.

Spectrum: <Ow...>

She uses Earthquake one last time, running low on energy.
