-The Elgyem later to be known as Portales blinks, then stares at his own feet-
Litwick: I see a lot of big-heads like you. Are they all your family?
-The Elgyem shakes his head slightly-
Litwick: Then who are they all?
Elgyem: ...Teachers...
Litwick: What are they teaching you?
Elgyem: -stares- ... Stuff...
Litwick: -stares at the Elgyem for a moment- ... Do you... want... a mommy?
Elgyem: ... Maybe...

Mama Chandelure: Litwick! Litwick deary you're not supposed to talk to the big heads.
-picks up the Litwick and begins to leave. The Litwick pokes her head out from behind her mother's and stares at the lonely little Elgyem as he stares back at her. He seems close to tears...-

Okay guys, I don't know what's up with these statues and why there are creepy guys here, but Lance told me to meet him here.
-we stop outside a large door, which has opened since I was last there-
Lance: Hey, you! Girl! Watch out!
Huh?
-a black-clothed man and woman rush towards us, Pokeballs held out in front of them-
Grunt 1: Hey! Get out of here!
Grunt 2: Yeah, if we beat you you leave! If you win, we'll let you go!
But I don't want to battle, I'm fine just leav—
Lance: You're on! Dragonite, go!
Um, okay, I guess... Arrow, go ahead.
-the Pidgeotto takes his place on the battlefield. After a while of battling, Arrow is getting low on health. Dragonite uses Fly-
But that leaves Arrow defenseless!
Lance: Sorry, kid. You're Pidgeotto's on his own.
-the Murkrow attacks Arrow. It's a critical hit! The Pidgeotto goes down. I run to his side, tossing Dennis's ball at the field. The Drowzee faces off against the others. Dragonite uses Fly again-
-Before Dennis has a chance to do anything, the Murkrow kills him as well. Buddy the Sudowoodo bursts out of his ball and finishes off the Murkrow, Dragonite having taken care of the others-
Dennis! Arrow!
Lance: Hey kid, there are some Electrodes in there. You'll want to fight them to make this thing stop.
-I stare at him, unbelieving, then recall Buddy and stand up slowly-
... All right.
-I walk in and face off against the first Electrode. Ashes comes out and uses Flame Wheel. It uses Rollout, taking a significant chunk out of Ashes's health. I throw an Ultra Ball at it and catch it. Nervous, I move on to the next. It, too, uses Rollout, bringing Ashes's health down dangerously low. I switch to Buddy, who takes the blow. We fight until the Electrode faints, then I move on to the next. Lydia the Flaafy is first, but quickly goes down-
-I send out Buddy again. The Electrode hits him with Swift. It critical hits, and Buddy goes down. Jamie the Raticate takes her turn, also falling to the Electrode. Holding back tears, I send out Ashes. She hits the Electrode with Flame Wheel before going down to Rollout. The Electrode goes back to its position on the machine and I crumple to my knees amid my dead team members-
Yes, I failed my first Nuzlocke in the Rocket Base. And then I switched it off and started from my last save spot because I couldn't bear it.

-The little Elgyem has grown about half an inch since it was last seen by the Litwick. The Litwick has begun waddling up the stairs in the Tower to the floor he is sitting in. She wants to show him a new trick she learned...
Once she reaches the room she last saw him, she finds him sitting down in the exact same spot as last time, staring at its hands and legs. Excited, she begins waddling over to the corner of the wall and the floor, and slithers upwards until she is standing upside down on the ceiling.
She slowly creeps over to just above where the Elgyem is sitting, and whispers.-
Litwick: Pssst! Hey! Mister big head!
-The Elgyem, shocked, begins looking around frantically for the source of the voice-
Litwick: Up here!
-The Elgyem, for what is perhaps the first time in his life, looks upwards, and finds the Litwick he had spoken to yesterday on the ceiling. Surprised, his eyes widen a little-
Litwick: Do you like my trick?
Elgyem: ... Trick?
Litwick: -giggles- Yeah. My mama says they're called 'Abilities', though. Things that we can do that impress people.
Elgyem: Oh... -He thinks for a while, then speaks up- I know a trick.
Litwick: Oh, really? Show me! Show me!
Elgyem: Um... okay. -he holds his breath and thinks very, very hard. Then, he starts floating upwards, until the top of his head hits the ceiling. He puts his blunt hands up to the cieling and pushes himself back down-
Litwick: That's a cool trick!
Elgyem: -blushes- There's uh... there's a problem though.
Litwick: Oh really? What?
Elgyem: I don't know how to turn it off yet...

Artemis: <I'm hungry...>
Artemis' mother: <Well, I went through the trouble of stealing a warm meal for a human family for you, it's not my fault that you didn't eat it! And since you're too weak to actually steal your own food, you'll simply have to go hungry if you don't eat what I give you!>
Artemis: <It's not my fault... Those trainers have Pokémon that are stronger than me. You know, I have asked if you and dad could help me become stronger, but you never train with me!>
Artemis' mother: <Well, excuse me, but how do you expect to ever learn how to live on your own if your father and I do everthing for you?>
Artemis: <...>
Artemis' mother: <... Get out.>
Artemis: <What?>
Artemis' mother: <You heard me, get out of here.>
Artemis: <You're kicking me out? But why?>
Artemis' mother: <Because you need to learn how to live on your own, and if you stay here, you'll never learn how to do that.>

- Artemis exits the cave, with a rather shocked look on her face. It is raining, and Artemis looks back at the cave with a somewhat sad look on her face -
Artemis: <... FINE! I don't need you anyway! It's not like you ever actually did anything to help me!> (Artemis begins walking away from the cave) <... Well, guess I'll have to find a new place to live.>

- Artemis tries to sneak over to the trainer's backpack while the trainer is distracted playing with his Lillipup. Artemis almost manages to steal something out of the bag before being noticed -
The trainer: Hey, get lost!
- Artemis runs away, hiding in some tall grass -
Artemis: <Well... That didn't work...>
???: <That's because you're not doing it right, kitten.>
Artemis: <Huh?>
- Artemis looks up to see a small group of Purrloin, their leaders steps forward and gently pets her on the head with his paw -
The Purrloin leader: <Don't you worry, kitten. We'll teach you how things work around here.>

-It has been about three months since the Elgyem met the Litwick. The Litwick is very close to evolving into a Lampent, but she now has a choice to make; should she evolve? Or should she stay in her base form for a trainer? She hasn't been able to decide for quite some time, so she has come to ask the Elgyem for his opinion.-
Litwick: I mean, I don't really know if I'll be able to handle having a trainer. I've been a wild pokemon for so long, I don't know how I would react to suddenly not being able to see any of my friends ever again...
Elgyem: How many friends do you have?
Litwick: Well, not that many. The Litwick around here are too clique-y for me and you're the only Elgyem that has ever even given me the time of day.
Elgyem: ... I don't want you to go.
Litwick: I know you don't. Hardly anyone ever talks to you, do they?
Elgyem: -shakes his head slowly-
Litwick: Well, don't worry. I'm always going to be here for you!
Elgyem: So... you're not going to get caught by a trainer then?
Litwick: Nope! I'm going to evolve! Today!
Elgyem: Today?
Litwick: Today!
Elgyem: When?
Litwick: Right now!

-Suddenly, the Litwick glows very brightly. She breaks apart into several pieces and meshes back together. Once the light finally subsides, the Litwick is now a Lampent, and now has the ability to fly-

- Unova Route 2, several weeks later Artemis has become part of the Purrloin gang, who have taught her how to use her cute looks to get away with stealing from trainers and have taught her how to fight. During this time Artemis has also grown close to the leader of the gang. One night, while the two are looking at the stars together -
Artemis: <It's quite pretty, huh?>
The Purrloin leader: <Yeah, although not as pretty as you, kitten.>
Artemis: (blushing somewhat) <Really?>
The Purrloin leader: <Really. And I must say, it is really a shame that such a wonderful kitten like you must live like this, stealing from pathetic humans in order to survive.>
Artemis: <Well, I don't mind. Stealing is fun!>
The Purrloin leader: <Of course it is, but don't you think we deserve more?>
Artemis: <I guess...>
The Purrloin leader: <You know what I want? The world.>
Artemis: <The world?>
