Route 34 - Johto

A Wild Abra is asleep in the shade of a tree, having chosen the spot both due to that the shade kept the annoying sunlight out of his face, and that he would be hard to spot by any potential predators.

Not that predators were an especially huge problem, seeing as like any Abra, he could simply sense them coming and teleport far away to safety before they even came close. Even in a unconscious state, an Abra's psychic abilities were incredibly potent.

As this Abra continued to doze, he began to pick up the psychic signature of a Pokémon not commonly found on the route, and it was trying to sneak up on him.

A more thorough scan revealed this Pokémon in particular to be a huge river lizard. Perhaps one of the ones that lived in the swamps nearby? He had read much from the minds of the other Pokémon on the route about them. Particularly how one of them would devour anything that came her way...

He wasn't entirely sure if it was that one or not - his psychic scans could only reveal so much at this stage of evolution - so he wasn't going to risk sitting there and leaving himself and easy target if it was her.

So he would only wait until the river lizard was right on top of him before teleporting away. Sure, it was a risk...but a few more seconds of sleep was always worth the potential danger...

Finally, an Abra! And this one didn't appeared to have noticed him.

Lake had been trying to find one to ask for a quick Teleport to the Orange Islands, but the few he had managed to come across so far had teleported away from him before he could even approach them, let alone ask for help.

However, as the Feraligatr began to approach this one, he was pleasantly surprised that it didn't teleport away from him. Maybe this time he would be lucky?

Trying not to seem like an apex predator looking to swiftly devour him (no easy feat), Lake began to try and speak to the dozing Psychic Pokémon.

Lake: <Um, hey. Would you mind if I asked for your help wi->

Blip!

<...>

The Feraligatr twitched, feeling a mix of frustration and sheer RAGE building up inside of him. At that point, he was honestly tempted to go on a rampage. Knock a few trees over, smash some boulders, carve some chunks out of the ground...

But he wasn't that sort of Feraligatr, so settled for letting out a bellowing roar, then taking out his frustration on a the tree the Abra had been sleeping under by clamping his jaws down hard on the bark.

Biting things always made him feel a little better.

Lake angrily chewed on the tree bark for a few seconds before letting go, spitting a few broken pieces of bark out of his mouth afterwards. Blurgh. Wood tasted horrible.

He didn't feel so angry now, but he was still fed up. Letting out a long sigh, Lake sat down where the Abra had been just a few moments ago and leaned back against the tree, feeling rather sorry for himself.

Since the fiasco with Blitz trying to forcibly steal the spotlight from him a few days back, Lake hadn't had any luck finding a means of getting to the Orange Islands, and his repeated failings were beginning to weigh down his confidence.

As much as he wanted to find Tempest, and hopefully learn where his family was, he was starting to doubt whether he could do it by himself. Perhaps he should have taken Tracer's offer for help?

It wasn't like there was any way he could get to the Orange Islands under his own power. It was too far to swim, he couldn't take a boat or anything like that, and many of the other potential ideas he had come up with were just silly.

(Although he had practiced flying with his Air Balloon a few times, but he had given up on that idea when he found that he could only move through the air at a Shuckle's pace without outside assistance from a certain Salamence or another flying Pokémon.)

So, it seemed like that he was going to need help with this one...

- Five Pokemon - one a Legendary disguised as a human- have made it to the route.-

Human!Latios: How DID we get here, dude? And where's that Tracer bro?

- Oh Arceus, not you too. -

Bozaka: Are you talking to the voices in your head?

Lardna: That Dragonite creeps me out...

Andre: All the more reason I should pummel it!

Zoltan: Hey! I think she's nice!

Andre: Whatever.

- Zoltan notices Lake in his tree. -

Zoltan: Wait, is that...

...

LAKE!

- Zoltan runs over and glomps Lake. -

Suddenly, the area began rebuilding itself. Brick by brick time was reversed until instead of the ruins I had encountered months ago, the tower had returned into its original form, just as we saw it 1,000 years ago. Soon enough, I took a deep breath, and walked with my teammates, up into the depths.

Lake is, naturally, surprised to be suddenly glomped by a miniature Aerodactyl.

Lake: <Oh! Zoltan!>

Happy to see his friend again, the Feraligatr returns the hug.

<I'm so happy to see you little guy! Wait, have you gotten bigger?>

It's as this point that he also notices a few more Pokemon he recognises...as well as a Dragonite and human that he doesn't.

<Oh, hi guys. Hey, where's Tracer?>

Holding onto Zoltan, Lake pulls himself up and walks over to Lardna, moving in close to whisper to her.

<Tracer didn't trade you, did he?>

- Starts following Tagg -

I see you're back to normal, Wolf.

Yep! -smiles-

- Smiles back -

-looks around-

Sentinel: <What happened to this place? It doesn't look anything like the flashbacks.>

I guess it's some sort of security mechanism.

-Right in front of us is a door with three locks-

I guess that's where we have to go, but it's blocked.

So, what do we do now?

-Walks through a door on the left to the next room-

Well...

-The area ahead has a bunch of busted bridges and machinery, as well as thorns covering the door across the room-

Umbra: -lets out Gilgamesh, Gravemind, and Reynard- Be ready for an ambush.

Lina: -lets out Rhyme, Axel, and Terry. - I am.

With Lake (Route 34)

Lardna: What? No! Tracer is just a short distance away. These guys -gestures to "Guy" and Bozaka- are just traveling with us.

Andre: The big blue guy again? I bet I can beat him with all my training.

Lardna: -snorts derisively- You're gonna need WAY more training, buddy... Lake could literally eat you for breakfast if he wanted.

Andre: I'd like to see him try.

Lardna: -rolls her eyes- Your funeral.

Zoltan: Lake wouldn't do that! Lake is nice! -nuzzles Lake-

Human!Latios: Yo, gator dude. My name's Guy.

Bozaka: And I'm Bozaka! Long, morbid story about where that comes from! :3

Lake can't help but grin slightly at André, his tough-guy attitude reminding him of when he was a Croconaw, somewhat.

Lake: <Tell you what, I'll fight you when you're a bit older, 'kay?>

The Feraligatr pets Zoltan a bit for nuzzling him, then turns his attention to the newcomers. He waves a hello to the human apparently called guy, not expecting him to understand monese, of course, then nods a greeting to Bozaka.

...Wait.

Bozaka was a Dragonite, and Dragonite were perfectly capable of carrying large passengers like him long distances. Stratus had done it lots of times.

It was a true light-bulb moment if there ever was one.

<Oh, hello Bozaka. Mine name's Lake.>

Lake flashes the Dragonite an awkward smile, trying not to seem too forward. Obviously the first thing you do when you meet somemon isn't to ask them for help with something. That's just rude.

<Er, it's nice to meet another Dragonite. I'm good friends with another one.>

Goldenrod City: Faith's House

-Outside of the front door, a little Starly is again trying to get the attention of the residents of the household, having decided to go exploring after having fun with her father all week. However, she is again met by resistance when no one answers.-

Shahinne: *trills in irritation* <Food!> *hops around the front porch, leering at nearby people that walk past* <Hungry!>

Mailman: *wanders up to the house, placing a few bills and magazines into the mailbox before heading away*

Shahinne: *chirps curiously* <Noms?> *flies over to the mailbox, landing on top of it and inspecting it curiously; she begins to peck at the lid of the mailbox, causing it to fall open before hopping inside to inspect the delivery*

Goldenrod City: Radio Tower

-Copahue and Harriet are flying around, looking for their adorable if somewhat of a handful daughter. Having checked PEFE HQ resulted in no leads as Ichtacya was unwilling to let anyone near the room with Roc or    Inka   . As such, they decided to check elsewhere, wondering where the little Starly had gone and are currently roosting atop the Radio Tower to get a literal "bird's eye view" and trade information with other birds.-

Copahue: <Yes, there are very good berries in Olivine. You should be very happy there.>

Pidgey: <Yay~> *coos contentedly* <We will keep a lookout for the    blackbi-   ...er, blackbird. :3>

If reptilian Pokemon could sweatdrop, Lake would have right then. However, he had to settle for grining awkwardly instead.

-Spraying some repel around herself to ward off any Zubat, Lyra sits near a cavern wall with Threedot, holding him close to calm him down. Meanwhile, the other two Cubone continue to interact with the cavern's inhabitants.-
