-Pianis, meanwhile, is searching around to see if there's anything else in the cavern-

Katie: -gently strokes Forte's cheek-

"Luxray, Thunderbolt!"

"Rascal, Wish!"

"Thunderbolt!"

"Protect!"

"Thunderbolt!"

"Return!"

Both Pokemon panted, staring at each other tiredly amidst the battlefield. The rain began to ease up slightly, down to only a trickle with one turn remaining.

<You're pretty good,> Luxray complimented.

<As are you,> Rascal responded in kind.

<You should know, though,> Luxray grinned, lowering himself into an attack position. <I don't plan on losing here.>

<You don't plan on losing?> Rascal chuckled. <I've got two kits and a mate. Imagine how much of an earful I'll get if I choke now.>

The two smiled at each other, continuing to stare each other down.

"Go, Rascal!"

"Luxray, let’s finish it!"

The two Pokémon darted for each other, teeth bared as they prepared the final blow. Grim determination burned fiercely in Rascal’s eyes, an expression that was mirrored in Luxray's own gaze.

"This was our first move when you evolved..."

"This was the move that won us our first Gym Match..."

"FLAMETHROWER!"

"THUNDERBOLT!"

Flame and electric exploded in the air, the two attack colliding in a magnificent shower of sparks and cinders. The air filled with the smell of smoke and ozone, the two determined not to give the other an inch. Both attacks continued to clash, crackling and sizzling in the air...

And then they went wild, scattering flame and electric bursts across the ground. Rex and Volkner shielded their eyes, the rain stopping entirely as the explosion rocked through the air. Giving a quick glance around to make sure nothing and no one was injured, both looked back to the battlefield...

...

...

...

...and were greeted with the sight of Rascal standing triumphantly, grinning from ear to ear at Rex.

"...We...we won..." Rex stated in disbelief, barely able to stand from the sheer surprise. "...We won!" Running for his Flareon, Rex wrapped the Flame Pokémon in a crushing hug, the Eeveelution whining slightly.

<Hey, I'm still sore from the match~>

Volkner chuckled, walking over to his fallen Luxray with a smile, giving it a gentle pat on the head. "Not bad, old friend. Perhaps next time."

"I love you, Rascal!"

<No, seriously...that's starting to hurt. @_@>

Hunter releases his team.

"Okay, guys, I need you to spread out and look for blue glowing things. If you find any, just touch them. I'll explain later."

His team exchange dubious looks, but shrug and spread out over the cave.

Ashley, after having touched the images of the Lake Trio in all possible orders gives up on finding a Tear there and goes to look somewhere else.

If I am not posting in 2 hours my mom caught me up.

Volkner: Well, in that case, you should head north of Sunnyshore t- ...wait, what?

Rex: I barely was able to beat you in that match just now. I need a lot more practice before I challenge the Pokemon League. *holds up his Beacon Badge with a smile* But, at least I know I'm making progress. That's the most important thing of all.

Volkner: ... ... ... *chuckles* All too true. Tell me, challenger, what's your name?

Rex: My name is Rex. Rex Hunter!

Volkner: Well then, Rex Hunter, I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. Maybe you continue to reach great heights. ...Oh, and you should probably do something about that Salamence of yours.

Fool goes over to pet the Sawsbuck's nose. It doesn't seem to be frighted of her.
