Route 126 - Underwater

A lone Lanturn swims through the clear waters, looking for something to eat for lunch. A Remoraid or two would probably do the trick, and for thanks to his well developed luminescent lure, finding a school would be a breeze.

The fish begins to flash a pattern with his light, hoping to lure in a curious school of fish Pokémon, getting ready to stun a few with a Thunderwave before gobbling them up.

He was very surprised, then, we he received a reply.

???: Hello? Is somemon there?

Lanturn: Blinks. Er...hi?

???: Oh, hai! Who are you?

Lanturn: Me? Oh, I'm just a Lanturn. What about you? Are you a Lanturn? A Chinchou?

???: Er...neither, actually.

Lanturn: Oh...are you a Lumineon then? Or...a Manaphy?

???: No! I'm definitely not a Manaphy! How about I come over and show you?

Lanturn: That depends. Are you a predator?

???: Nah, I'm a herbivore. You're safe.

Lanturn: Oh, well come on over then!

???: 'Kay, be right over...

The Lanturn floats there and waits, eventually seeing another Pokémon approaching. He raises a fin and waves, hoping to get the stranger's attention. Noticing this, the other Pokémon waves a flipper and approaches...to find that it's not any sort of Pokémon that he was expecting to see at all.

Lanturn: Stares. <...You're a->

Woolly: <An Ampharos? Yep.> Smiles. <Surprised?>

Lanturn: <Well, yes...>

The fish Pokémon swims around the newcomer, examining her curiously. From the looks of it, this Ampharos didn't look that different from the few others he had seen. Apart from the fact that A; She was breathing underwater, and B; she was wearing an odd silvery scarf of some kind.

<If you don't mind me asking, Miss, how are you breathing?> Tilts head. <Don't you air-breathers normally need to hitch a ride with a Pokémon that can use Dive?>

The Ampharos shakes her head, then runs a flipper along her scarf.

Woolly: <Not when you have a [Bubble Scarf.]> Pauses, wondering why her text was colored. <Er...As long as I'm wearing this, I can breath underwater.>

The Lanturn peers closely at the scarf, blowing a few bubbles in surprise.

Lanturn: <That's pretty nifty. Where did you get it?>

Woolly: <Ah, these water Pokémon that live in the Orange Islands gave it to me.> Looks curious. <You guys here in Hoenn ever heard of them?>

Lanturn: Thinks. <Hmm...there's supposed to be a Reef in the Orange Island where Lugia lives. That the one you mean?>

Woolly: Nods. <That's it, yeah. Hmm...Is there another around here?>

Lanturn: Smiles. <You bet there is. And it puts that tiny one in the Orange Islands to shame. Would you like directions to it? Or...to the nearest island, at least? You seem a bit lost.>

Woolly can't help but chuckle at that last comment.

Woolly: <I'm not lost, silly. I'm exploring with a few of my friends.> Remembers something. <But I wouldn't mind asking...Have you seen a Dragonite anywhere around here recently?>

Lanturn: Shakes his head. <Nope, sorry.>

Woolly: Frowns, her ears drooping. <Darn. Oh well, thanks anyway...>

Spheal: <Well you are a beautiful whatever-that-is... what are you doing here?> — gets closer to the bubble — <What does this doooooooooo? :3>

- After waking up Rex, Lina is vwalking arond the ruins with her Pokemon. -

Terry: This would be a good secret hideout.

Axel: I doubt it kid. The Unown probalby wouldn't apprecite it...

Lina: So, Rex, what should we do next?

Underwater

Odette: <My trainer and I are headed for Sootopolis... Oh! Be careful with that bubble, we need it to breathe underwater.>

Yeah, you two did.

Phi: -Sly smile-

Spheal: <O_o eeeeep!>

The Spheal blinks in surprise, then retreats and swims under the bubble, carefully. Gives a couple of looks at it but nothing beyond that.

Odette: (giggling a little) <You're adorable.>

Charap: (looks rather pleased)

Solaceon Ruins

Rex: Hmm...we should probably go back into town. I get the feeling that important plot points will be occurring there.

Pierce: *awakens from the sound of the fourth wall shattering* <I'm awake!>

Rex: *collects his laptop*

Lina: OK then, let's go!

Gino: Poor fourth wall, nyan.

We just picked some guys up off it and flew out. It was about to crash by the time we got off.

Sunny: <That's what they're saying about it on Chatter. It was totally a J-Team operation.>

While waiting for her grandson to come out of the general store with the supplies for the ranch. The Old Lady is introducing herself to Phantom.

Old Lady: By th' way, the names' Melody. I'm sure a mon like you will fit in like a hand in a glove after I give yah th' rundown of the place!

Phantom: <Hmm... It does sound nice... But I'm a trainers' Pokemon! I won't be able to travel or fight anymore!>

Gummy: <You lot always say that! Den yah realise that being taken' in by th' ranch was the best thing to ever happen to yah! Most of your lot even cry once they leave!>

Phantom: <...Leave?>

Gummy: <You ain't no geriatric retiree like meself. You still have plenty o' fightin' spirit in yah! Your type always gits put up for adoption and oftentimes it ain'y long before yah do!>

Phantom: <Oh really? The poor sucker who gets me will be so much fun to toy with >:3 >

Veronica: Hmm... "Aipom attacks Devon Corp president"... "Skitty rescues a fireman who got stuck in a tree"... "J-Team believed to have rescued a Rayquaza from Team Ozone"...

Fantasy: <So... No news about when new episodes of our favorite shows are airing?>

Sierra: (smiles) Oh, you're awake! So, we talk to the Latias sisters first, and then go look for Maxie and Archie so I can ask them what the heck they were thinking with founding Team Ozone?

Comet: <I hate this. SO MUCH.>

Shivering, Comet clings to Lake as she rides on his back along with myself. Unlike ther others, we're making use of a Dive Bubble since...well, even with a Bubble Scarf, a Fire Pokémon like Comet wouldn't take being underwater well at all.

Not that things we're currently much better.

"We'll try not to be down here much longer, Comet. Don't worry..."

Lake: Frowns, worried. <Wouldn't you rather stay in your Pokéball?>

Comet: <...>

Comet glances out at Treeo, who is searching nearby for Stratus, also making use of a Bubble Scarf. He looks slightly uncomfortable, but is otherwise fine.

<I'll pass on that...thanks...>

"...Well, if you say so." To Treeo. "Any luck, Treeo?"

The Sceptile hears me calling, then runs across the ocean floor back to us, moving in giant strides across the seabed, a-bit rather slowly.

Treeo: Flicks his tongue. <No luck. It's like he's disappeared or something.> Frowns. <It's like he;s turned into Gene.>

Comet: <Remind me, he's the Sandslash that keeps wandering off, right?>

Treeo: Nods. <Except it's worse for Stratus. To a Dragonite, wandering off means flying to a different region...>

Comet: Faceclaws. <Hoo boy. We're probably never going to find him...>

Lake: <No, he wouldn't leave us like that. He's our friend, right?>

Comet: <...Yeah.>

Treeo: Nods. <Of course! I'm just worried that his curiosity might have got the better of him.>

Comet: <Curiosity killed the Meowth, as they say...>

Melody notices Rex and Lina down the road.

Melody: Hmm? Who's these new faces?

Sierra: (nods) Okay! I think the Latias sisters shouldn't be too far away from here, and as for Archie and Maxie... Well, they're probably in Mossdeep somewhere.

- Sierra begins to look for the two Latias -

Vyvyan flies along with Sierra in serach of the Latias sisters.

Latias: (to her sister) <Oh, I think they're headed over here now!>

Rex: Hmm? *notices Melody watching them* Oh, hello.

- Finally spots the cave entrance leading to Sootopolis -

- Umbra and Styx are flying on Mata Nui to Sootopolis. -

Solaceon Town

Melody: Well howdy there young'uns! Th' names Melody, runner of a ranch 'round these parts that take care of the retired, orphaned and just plain thrown out Pokemon!

At that moment, her grandson walks out of the store with the supplies.

Grandson: Talkin' 'bout th' ranch! We best be headin' back there Nanna!

Melody: Oh of course Jonathan, of course...

Melody looks over to Rex and Lina.

Melody: Would yah like a tour of th' ranch? I was gunna do it anyway because I found a Pokemon here without a home.

Melody gestures to the Zoroark next to the Salamence.

Melody: Yer pleased tah come along! We always like meetin' new people!

Sootopolis

- Finally arrives in Sootopolis -

- Sierra and Vyvyan come across the Latias sisters -

Latias: (waves) <Hi!>
