Apparently I'm up against some guy called James.

But I'm feeling confident, I won my battle against Tobias and he had a Darkrai and a Latios! So I have no qualms with my next opponent.

Two days, Anom? How did you get locked in there in the first place?

I... I don't know. I felt someone push against my back pretty hard, then I remember a heavy thud on my head, then next thing I remember I'm in a janitor's closet, partially buried, and the door is locked from the outside.

....Well, no point in sulking about it, I guess. I'll have to prepare as best I can. I'm not going down without a fight, or with a surrender. I can handle a loss on my record, if it's against the best Trainer in recorded history. If I lose, it will be in the most dignified way possible.

Who am I up against next?

Slouch's Second Round Match: Factory Head Thorton (Tyranitar, Ursaring, Beartic, Abomasnow, Whiscash, Ledian); 8.5/10 (Frontier Brain)

The team is basically random. Three are from the manga, and three I picked by scrolling down a list of Pokemon and picking the first thing I saw when looking at it. I thought this was fitting, since Thorton's team is completely random in the games, too.

"Alright. I'll do that..."

-Recalls team and runs off to ZERO-ONE, drives quickly to local Pokecenter-

-Rushes in and boots up a PC, placing a call in the messaging client-

"Come on... Pick up..."

Tom: "Hello?"

"Hey, Tom. It's me, Tracer.

Tom: "Oh hey, what's been going on?"

"I need to switch around my team a bit..."

Tom: "... So soon? You just sent Audrey back a week ago..."

"Yeah, I know. Something came up... I need to have Kat over for a day or two."

Tom: "Your Marowak? Why? What's going on?"

"Tangent managed to get a couple of his Pokemon into a tight spot with a tribe of Cubone out here..."

Tom: "Ah... So... Who will you be sending back?"

"Well... It's just for a couple of days... ... Erm... Give me a sec..."

-Goes a short distance away from PC and brings team out-

"Alright... I know that you guys probably aren't going to like this... But I need to bench one of you to take Kat along for that rescue mission..."

<Teala: "H-H-How long is it going to be?">

"It should just be a day or two... But..."

<Vlad: "But what?">

"But... I'm not sure if I'll be able to convince Kat to go back with Tom... I haven't had the chance to be with her for a while..."

<Milo: "Oh great...">

<Lardna: "So there's a good chance that at least one of us is going to wind up benched after this...">

"Right..."

<Teala: "...">

<Shaun: "What's wrong?">

<Teala: "I mean I'd offer to be the one, but I don't want to be benched so soon... Not if it's for a long time...">

-Group goes quiet-

<Vlad: "H-Hey Teala... If we can't talk Kat into going back, I'll switch out with you after I'm done helping Nadia learn how to fly...">

<Teala: "Y-You'd do that?">

<Vlad: "Yeah, Tracer only really needs one Ground-Type on his team at once...">

<Teala: "Okay... B-But are you sure, Vlad? I don't want to feel like I'm imposing anything on you...">

<Vlad: "I'm sure... Just make sure to have fun meeting the others while you're with Tom.">

-Is noticeably more cheerful-

<Teala: "Oh! Okay, I'll be sure to do that, Vlad.">

"I guess that settles that then..."

-Recalls Teala and returns to PC-

"Teala."

Tom: "Your Druddigon? Alright. Send her in."

-Deposits Teala's Pokeball into the first Box in the PC network, a second Pokemon appears in the box-

Tom: "Do you see her?"

"Yeah, I do..."

-Withdraws Kat's Pokeball, checks screen again to see that the first box is empty-

"Thanks for your help, Tom."

Tom: "Anytime."

-Logs out of network, recalls team, rushes back to ZERO-ONE and drives as quickly as possible back to stadium-

I'd say we range from about 6-9. Meddler's probably lowest, due to inexperience. She's competent, but not amazing. Then Daisy, because she didn't really "train" until recently. Jane is probably next up, since she prefers breeding to battling. Wolf is on a similar level, since he hasn't battled in years. If he trained, he'd be higher. Slouch is around here too, due to lack of team variety , but he's probably slightly higher than Wolf, I can't tell. Then Fool, I think. Pentigan is probably next, but he's so mysterious, who can tell anymore. Gamer, Anom, and Tagg are next, with very little variation between them. I think I'd give Crewe an edge over those three, since she seems to strategize a little bit more, from what I've seen (I had the hardest time placing her). Finally, DS and Luke tie for the top spot, since they both prepare meticulously for battles, and compensate heavily for their teams' weaknesses.

Slouch's Pokemon are all high-leveled, but he only has 6 to use and he's not so good at strategising. I'd say your placement near the middle is about right.
