Ah, November 2013! Right after Orre's Thanksgiving...

Grace: <I've never heard of a human stranded in the Pokémon universe getting amnesia.>

-she chuckles menacingly-

<But it was probably a traumatic experience. Deserved, oh so much.>

Ryklys: Well, if this is a redemption arc or whatever, I suppose something I said got through to you. Still, to be safe...

-she tosses a provisional bandana to Rose, then another to the approaching Anne-

-Sora's question then reminds her to begin expositing-

Ryklys: Right!

-she leads the group aboard a Aqua-branded catamaran-

So, here's what we know about what we're up against:

Whoever these pirates are, they are very old-school. Their ship is made of wood, with tacky golden sails, and they attacked Malie Garden with harpoon cannons before their pokemon made off with its bell and other, less valuable ornaments.

-the boat begins to pull out of harbor-

-PEFE!Every and Ever, presumably after talking with Echo, have left the Gym-

Ever: So! That was pretty good!

PEFE!Every: Thanks!

Ever: But not, like, that good.

PEFE!Every: Thanks.

Ever: You're battling like you're about to cut and run. There's a lot of setup, which is good if you're setting up for something, but you just keep adding on boosts like you're afraid to try and seal the deal.

PEFE!Every: You can't be too cautious.

Ever: You can, which leads into the next issue. You don't adapt. You've got a good instinct for tactics, but it takes you too long to adjust to create a new one. Which is weird because I totally would have guessed you as being the other way around.

PEFE!Every: ...Why's this important, anyway?

Ever: It's been less than three months since you joined Mobius and Iron, and you've been in two major conflicts. One single Pokemon was able to put you in the hospital for a week. I know you're not a frontlines person, but you need to at least be able to take care of yourself in dangerous situations where you can't just run.

PEFE!Every: ...

Ever: You're incredibly observant, you know a...truly disturbing amount about Pokemon abilities, and your team trusts you...like, implicitly. I don't expect you to become a Champion, but there's no reason you shouldn't be able to be a decent trainer. It would just be nice if you didn't die.

-Ever hugs her-

Ever: Now come on, there are eight gyms in the region!

PEFE!Every: We're not going back to Nimbasa, are we?

Ever: ...I'll figure out something to make that a little more chill.

-Amanita is here, trying to figure out where everyone went-

-when she runs into Brie-

-over the course of the two weeks since the raid, most of Brie's injuries have healed up. She still has a couple bruises, mostly on her face where the Ring Grunt kicked her, and her arm's in a sling. But body armor's pretty useful, and after borrowing a teleporter from a friend to visit her parents and tell them she loves them, she's back in Unova-

Amanita: What happened to you? You look like you went three rounds with a Machamp.

Brie: ...Eh. You should see the other girl.

Amanita: ...Other g— Wait, did someone hurt you? Because if you need me to kick someone's ass, I have been itching to—

Brie: (hastily) There's no need to kick anyone's ass.

[Jared: I picked up some new recruits too!

-He sends out a Nidoqueen and a Mightyena-

Kaito: Oh, right, different universe rules. There's a lot of really cool folklore behind it, but basically, Pokemon are about twenty times more durable than humans so instead humans typically train them in heavily regulated battles, which eventually grew into a sort of superpowered strategy sport. Humans... generally don't have the same level of power for some reason, with the exception of those sensitive to the Auric Spectrum, which is basically life-force magic.

-It takes a moment for them to realize how much what Kuu said sounds like an innuendo, but the moment they do, they go bright red. They don't say a word about it, though.-

Room 33 — Past

Mason: Right. If it helps any, I did use "blow the place up" as a threat against Mr. Infinity Energy.

-He idly gives Lex the middle finger before grabbing another slice of pizza.-

Driftveil City

Colton elected to ignore the conversation for now, sitting down while watching his Fairy-type and Steel-type battle it out.

Sylveon fired some Swift stars while Sean tried to dodge them with Swords Dance, chasing her down with a Bullet Punch when he was done as his dodges didn't go too hot.

He did still hear the conversation, he could balance two things, but elected not to contribute. So her name's Kuu? He mused, looking behind himself, missing a rather well-executed Reflect used to counter a Close Combat that was then followed with a Quick Claw allowing for another Hyper Voice.

He drew the scarf, but did not put it on. I mean, I can throw my fair share of punches, but is now really the time? Then the Auric Spectrum was mentioned. He decided, screw it. I want to talk to her; she seems nice.

"I myself am on the spectrum," he said, drawing on some info he knew from his book. "Specifically, there are two ends of the Spectrum, Aura and Obscura, that are further divided into respectively, Fighting and Psychic, and Dark and Ghost," he explained.

Ryklys: An aerial assault... I would not advise until we know more of their capabilities.

We do know that they are not Water specialists. In particular, an Aggron and Gabite were both spotted by onlookers during the Malie attack. They did have a Floatzel hanging around the ship, though.

-her pager beeps-

OK!

We have a sighting of the ship approaching Seafolk Village from the north! Plot a course to catch up to them!

Bartholomew the Slowking: <Aye, captain!>

Ryklys: FULL STEAM AHEAD!

-Jessica dodges a whip. Ace just keeps flying, unperturbed (Normal/Flying's gonna have an advantage fighting Grass/Ghost, type-wise). Tsunami and Celena are both hit but more or less shrug it off.-

Shaun: "Shit forget what I said just hit it"

-Shaun taps Celena and gestures upward. Moments later, he's by her neck, holding on.-

Shaun: "I should get you a saddle..."

-Celena flies upward, hovering about 20 feet off the ground. She fires a off a Flash Cannon.-

Shaun: "And I need some Fire-type T Ms."

Tsunami: <Too bad you can't bleed!>

-She Metal Claws one of the various roots.-

Ace: <Don't kill him!>

-He flaps his wings, flying high above Dekarule.-

Jessica: <I wanted to finish that coffee!>

-She Flame Charges a root.-

James recalled Otacon and looked over at the crew, upon seeing Bartholomew, he squinted, "I swear that Slowking seems familiar."

He shrugged and let the boat go, he stepped forward and asked, "So what's the current plan? Are we handling our foes through a hit and run or are we boarding and should prepare for close quarters?"

Boat

Sora: Darn. Guess I'll wait.

Tropius: <You could afford to do that more often.>

Sora: Shut it, Gros Michel.

Ryklys: We will need to board, yes. The pirates need to be apprehended, and the bell recovered.

-she turns to Sora- Once we have suppressed any antiair capability that may or may not exist, fliers will be useful for that phase.

-as the ship approaches land, fog rolls in...-

-From Ryklys' catamaran, the form of a two-masted ship pokes through the rift fog, the sound of an ancient sea shanty filtering through in a monese with a distinctly un-Alolan accent...-

-On cue, the ship pulls out, revealing a ramshackle caravel with flashy sails made of gold and silver thread, with Pokémon in the sea and air following along, its deck filled with Pokémon... all wearing matching scarves?-

<Gabite: "We've been sailing for two days now! Where's our 'safe port' we were supposed to pull into?">

-At the fore, the sight of an Aggron peering through a scope on the bow, with a trio consisting of an impatient Trapinch, a sour-faced Gabite, and a Growlithe watching the world go by with a wagging tail resting against the railing-

<Trapinch: "Veikka, I warned you that that sea chart you gave the captain didn't look like it would be accurate. Some hatchling drew stick figures on it, for crying out loud!">

<Growlithe: "Well hey, it got us *here*. Who knows? Maybe we'll stumble across one that'll take us back home!">

<Gabite: "... I'm not holding my breath on that one, Eltenios. We went through some weird light hole and it's apparently teleported us somewhere. But at least we've found the coast. So it's just a matter of time before we pull into this 'Seafolk Village' and find a place to fence the loot.">

<Aggron: "Heh heh heh... That's right! And to think that it was all just left lying around with a bunch of ferals! All that metal's a feast- er... fortune!">

-The Aggron's comments draw skeptical looks from the other Pokémon within earshot, a frowning Ledian up in the rigging putting a claw over his face-

<Ledian: "The Captain's going to eat our loot before we manage to get any of it fenced again, isn't he?">

-The Aggron frowns and turns his head annoyedly at the accusation-

<Aggron: "Oi! I wasn't going to eat all of i-">

-Only to notice the catamaran directly in front of him, prompting him to shout out into the water-

<Aggron: "Gah! Rodion! You and the swimmers are supposed to tell us when you see something! We almost steered into an islet with a bunch of ferals on it!">

<Growlithe: "Er... Captain? That 'islet' is moving.">

<Aggron: "Wait. It... is?">

-Cue the Aggron leveling his scope, sizing up the 'islet' through his looking-glass before calling out its occupants-

<Aggron: "Hoy! What are ye scurvy ferals doing to move your sea rock, and what do you think you're doing getting it in the way of my ship?!">

He lets out his two best fighters, A Bisharp, <My blades are tools of justice!>

And a Zoroark, <I can already recall the feel of the battlefield.>

James stretches, "Alright you two, we're gonna be getting into a combat scenario soon. We're keeping casualties to a minimum, standard CQC maneuvers. Got it?"

The two nodded, "If I ever figure out how to talk to you, that'd be helpful."

-Ryklys has, in the space of the past minute, deployed a mast and rigging from a compartment on the Aqua vessel, and is now waving a cutlass from the crow's nest-

Anne the Milotic: <...why did we install that?>

Edward the Blastoise: <Why wouldn't we install that?>

Ryklys: ARR! YE BILGE-SUCKING BUCCANEERS HAVE PILLAGED THE WRONG PORT! TURN OVER THE BELL AND BOOTY AND MAYBE WE WON'T KEELHAUL THE LOT O' YE!

-In the past minute, Rose has quick-changed from her red sweater into a blue one.-

-The crew of the wooden caravel watches Ryklys' ship with flummoxed befuddlement, trying to process several things going on in rapid succession as a few such as Growlithe, Trapinch, and Gabite at the railing are just as curious back at the strange islet that has just revealed itself to be a ship-

<Growlithe: "'Pokémon-only world?' Just how far away did that light hole take us? And was that mast always there?">

<Gabite: "Hmph. I suppose the lanky ape-looking creatures must not be Pokémon given that comment. Their speech did seem strange to me. They make way too many different sounds!">

<Trapinch: "Clearly they're just weird Pokémon. You saw how those two suddenly blipped in, they must have a teleporter! From the clothes... Maybe some manner of Throh.">

-Others have picked up on the obviously aggressive intentions of the likes of Ryklys and James, turning their mood distinctly sour. Among them is the Aggron captain, who gives a low growl back across the gap-

<Aggron: "You? Keelhaul me? Don't make me laugh. It'll take more than a floating rock with a band of random ferals that didn't even have a mast a minute ago to part Hess, Captain of the Iron Fleet, from his hard-plundered booty!">

<Ledian: "... We walked into a garden and pulled them off in the middle of the night-">

<Aggron Hess: "Shh! Don't undercut the narrative, Kichiro!">

-The Aggron gives a stomp on the deck for attention, which prompts a few dozen Pokémon to surface from the sea, and airborne Pokémon to take off from the rigging to the skies. Among them is a Floatzel in the water, giving a fierce scowl back at the ship-

<Floatzel: "I'd politely suggest you let us 'mons of fortune carry on with our own business and find some other mark to plunder. We carried off those metal trimmings ourselves, and we're not the ones sailing around in an unguarded ship here!">

Lex meanwhile looks at Tagg incredulously.

Lex: You can't be serious.

Volpe: Well, a year off, but I've been combing your files and I know you've been involved with Interpol since you were at least 14, if not earlier.

Volpe shakes his head.

Volpe: That's not... Good for your formative years, if I'm honest.

Volpe shrugs.

Volpe: But I guess I wouldn't be the one to give a verdict on what "good" formative years would be.

Volpe begins coughing, and brings out a handkerchief, placing it over his mouth until his coughing fit ends.

Volpe: So your family are a bunch of law enforcers, huh? Is that where you get these flights of fancy about being an officer from?

Jester snapped his fingers and the illusion vanished, he looked over to Gudrunn and Molph, "So people do become ghost pokemon after they die... wait... I had a bunch of ghosts in a animation studio, and they weren't Pokemon."
