"YOW!" Colton hollered as his headphones began buzzing. Removing them, he reconsidered and instead lobbed an Ultra Ball that he had been saving for the day he would encounter a Legendary.

Six years he had that 'ball. He threw it at Vijounne, holding his breath.

-almost every copy clusters in front of Nitro, ablating about half the Flash Cannon, but Nitro still takes most of the attack, and is sent sprawling-

Nitro: <Ow...>

Ever: You okay?

Nitro: <I'm fine!>

-she leaps to her feet-

Nitro: <And more to the point, extremely annoyed!>

Ever: Use that! Ominous Wind!

Nitro: <Not my favorite move, but it'll do!>

-she slams both hands into the ground, a wave of obscura exploding off her and whipping up the fragments of ice still lying on the floor. As Nitro's storm grows, the arena is plunged into obscurity-

Lucario: <Ergh!>

Cynthia: Light it back up! Flash Cannon!

-Lucario forms the sphere of light, the rest of the arena plunging into even deeper darkness. She fires-

-and as the Ominous Wind clears, Nitro's gone-

Ever: Huh...

Cynthia: Interesting...

Lucario: <Where'd you go...>

-beat-

-beat-

-and Nitro bursts from the ground on an ice and obscura construct in the shape of a motorcycle, Ominous Wind shrieking out of the exhaust pipe. She's carrying a long, glowing chain of the same substance as the bike, which she lashes at Lucario, wrapping around her ankle-

Ever: Thanks for the Flash Cannon! I figured it would provide enough cover for Nitro to get underground! And thanks to Ominous Wind, she's all powered up now! Nitro, finish this off with...whatever it is you're doing.

Nitro: <GLADLY!>

-the motorcycle continues straight up, absolutely ignoring the laws of gravity. Lucario is yanked off her feet and carried into the air after Nitro-

Nitro: <Hey, Lucario!>

-she disintegrates the motorcycle at the peak of the arc, suspending herself for just a moment on the floating cloud of ice and obscura. The chain, still moving, carries the Lucario past Nitro to the top of the arena-

Nitro: <Don't fuck with my art!>

-and she whips the chain down, smashing Lucario into the ground-

-and Nitro lands, whirling the chain into a dome around herself before disintegrating it as well-

Ever: ...Is it self-serving if I say that that was awesome?

-Cynthia just shakes her head-

Joyous Forest

".. If I were in my pokeform I could make illusions. But no, nothing in the way of preventative measures for me."

Cynthia: I'd say I can't remember the last time I was put in a corner like this, but I'm sure we'd both know I'm lying. All the same, not many make it this far. Do you think you're ready, challenger?

Ever: My last remaining Pokemon are two Ice-types. I think I'm as ready as I'm going to be.

Cynthia: Then let's do this! Garchomp, go!

Ever: This is...exciting.

Cynthia: But that's not all.

Ever: Huh?

Cynthia: Remember how I didn't Mega Evolve Lucario?

-Ever blinks-

Ever: ...No way.

Cynthia: 'Fraid so. Garchomp! Let's show them the power of our bond! Mega Evolution!

-she touches the Mega Stone around her neck, and Garchomp is surrounded in a cocoon of energy-

-when it clears, Garchomp is more heavily built, with scythes instead of hands, and about twice as many spikes-

Garchomp: <The J-team's largely not around these days, so I really haven't had a chance to come out and play in a while.>

-she growls-

Garchomp: <You better make this worth it.>

Malie Garden

-Anabel, her team, and the Vigilante Toucan all wince and cover their ears. DU-115 short-circuits and falls over, twitching.-

Vigilante Toucan: <Oh, man, good thing those guys are a hive mind... at least the beeping has stopped.>

-Kaito, who has just arrived, also cringes from the sound.-

Kaito: What the hell...?

She's got to have a plan...unfortunately, I don't know what it is, so I may as well go with what works.

Ever: Nitro, Ice Beam!

Nitro: <What took you so long to say that?>

-Nitro coalesces an arm cannon from ice, and fires a blast at Garchomp-

Cynthia: <Stone Edge!>

Garchomp: <It's not going to be so easy!>

-she slams her scythes into the ground, and an enormous wall of stone rises in front of her, catching the Ice Beam-

Ever: Ooooof course.

Cynthia: Stone Edge again, Battleship style.

Ever: Whomst?

-and needles of stone arc over the wall, raining down on Nitro. She dodges, but barely-

Ever: Okay, Ms. Nitro, tear down this wall!

Nitro: <Walls really have been a theme of my performance here, haven't they?>

-her blaster changes in conformation slightly, and begins firing Shadow Balls. The wall splinters on the first shot, and explodes on the second-

-but the Garchomp isn't there-

Nitro: <Huh?>

-Ever's eyes widen-

Ever: Nitro, jump!

Nitro: <Jump? Why would I—>

-and the ground explodes underneath her, Garchomp rising up to deliver a vicious bite-

Cynthia: She isn't the Land Shark Pokemon for nothing.

Ever: ...Isn't that Gible?

Cynthia: Technically, yes.

-Mezzo and Pianis are both munching on shaved ice while watching-

Mezzo: Holy crap, she pulled a Snow Villiers.

Pianis: ...What?

Mezzo: Guy from Last Legend Episode 13. Drives an ice motorcycle. Lily has a crab named after him I think. Actually, he's kinda like you, except he's more of a jerk. And doesn't shave.

Pianis: Gee, thanks.

Cynthia: Down to your last Pokemon.

Ever: Works for me. Jab!

-Jab hits the field-

Jab: <Finally! Man, I was bored! Seriously, Ever, what were you...>

-he trails off as he seems the Garchomp-

-he looks at Ever-

-and then at the Garchomp-

-he gestures at her-

-Ever nods-

Jab: <Final battle?>

Ever: Yep.

Jab: <Champion?>

Ever: Mmm-hmm.

Jab: <...I love you.>

Ever: Happy early Hanukkah.

Garchomp: <Don't expect this to be so easy.>

Jab: <I am so hoping it's not.>

Ever: Okay, done with the posturing?

Jab: <...For now.>

Ever: Great. Ice Shard.

Jab: <Let's DO this!>

-he dashes forwards, ice forming over his claws-

Cynthia: Stone Edge!

Garchomp: <Don't count on your cheap shot, weasel!>

-she slashes into the ground, the force of her blow raising the slab of rock that Jab's standing on. He's forced to leap over her, and as he flings down blades of ice, she disappears into the ground-

Jab: <Crap!>

-he lands, and is immediately moving as Garchomp bursts up directly under him, only narrowly missing with two swings of her scythes-

Ever: How on earth is Garchomp so fast?

Cynthia: Practice practice practice!

-the two mons return to their starting positions, Jab breathing slightly more heavily-

Ever: Try another— ...Wait.

-he narrows his eyes-

Jab expended way more energy on that whole exchange than Garchomp did. Sure, two attacks to one, but Jab ran over half the arena, and Garchomp just sort of punched the ground and then dug a bit.

This isn't any less of a battle of attrition than Spiritomb was. Just throwing the same attack at her over and over again isn't a tenable situation.

-The Zap Cannon and Ultra Ball are both intercepted by a Point-Defense missile each. In fact, the entire field is barraged by low-yield, high-concussion missiles pouring from missile ports from the Sharpedo ship, in an attempt to scatter the assailants surrounding Vijounne. The ship flies in low, repulsor discharge causing an updraft, as one Pokemon, followed by ninety nine others, deploy from the deck of the ship.-

Leader Weavile: <Bravo! Bravo! To have so efficiently disabled a GEAPHDARK officer's equipment and incapacitate them in short order! Truly, this world has more than lived up to expectation!>

Vijounne: {Y-you...}

-Ludmilla immediately ducks low and narrows her eyes at the menacing cat-thing. The ship returns to a higher altitude, point-defense systems at the ready to intercept any attempts to harm the injured Pheromosa.-

Leader Weavile: <I must say, warriors of Dearth, you impress me a great deal! Not only have you fought off not one, not two, but three officers of the great GEAPHDARK Federation, you have also attempted to capture one, if our scan data of those little orbs of yours have told us anything. I wouldn't try doing that AGAIN, by the way.>

Armored Pangoro: <My liege, we have yet to introduce ourselves...>

Leader Weavile: <Oh, of course! My deepest apologies. I am Vorkken. Prince Vorkken, heir to the throne of the great comet Rhullo, and leader of the elite Space Pirates known as the Guyzoch. This is my assistant, Chewgi. And you, my little defenders of this dimension, have destroyed a great asset for my employer. I am here to make sure no more damage to our good name is done.>

Okay. With Pressure active, Garchomp's only got two more uses of Stone Edge, so at least that's some comfort. Theoretically, I could just try and outlast her, but I don't think Cynthia will let that happen. And she's still got two moves left...

Cynthia: If you don't want to, Garchomp and I will happily take the offensive! Go, use Dragon Rush!

Crap.

Ever: Icy Wind!

Jab: <Give me a second!>

-he dashes out of the way as Garchomp leaps into the air, smashing her blades down in the space he occupied a moment ago. When he attempts to respond with a hastily-aimed Icy Wind, she easily evades it-

Dammit! Garchomp's fast enough to stop Jab cold on offense, and when I play defense, she's got enough offensive strength to scare Jab out of attacking properly...aagh, Muninn didn't even give me this trouble.

Cynthia: Challenger, if this is the best you have to show me—

Ever: It's not! I just...need a second.

Cynthia: Time's not a luxury I'll give you! Dragon Rush again!

Garchomp: <I'm coming in hot, weasel!>

...Ah.

Ever: Jab, get away with Surf!

Jab: <Oh dear Articuno gladly!>

-water forms around him, propelling him backwards-

-it soaks into the sandy floor of the arena-

-and as Garchomp's blades slam down again, they sink in just a bit-

Ever: There! Ice Shard!

Jab: <How do you like me now, huh?>

-he conjures up an ice dart, and flings it at Garchomp-

Cynthia: Fire Fang!

-Garchomp's jaws ignite and she roars, the heat from her mouth melting the Ice Shard instantly-

Ever: Nice. I guess there's a limit to how fast she can pull off those Stone Edges? If the ground's soft, she'll need a little more force to get to anything better than a Mud-Slap. So you can't just keep stalling until Jab gets tired.

Cynthia: Conversely, with Fire Fang, I can negate any ranged attack you throw. If you get in close again, Garchomp will undoubtedly have time for a Stone Edge.

Ever: I could wait. I can use Surf to get around Dragon Rush, and I don't think there's a level of tired Jab has where he couldn't dodge a Stone Edge at range.

Jab: <Damn right.>

Cynthia: Then let's try something new. Garchomp, Dig.

Ever: Ah, crap.

Garchomp: <I'm coming for you.>

-and she burrows-

JD and Prioris looked at each other, then back at the Weavile.

"Okay, hello. I am JD of Team Rossum, this is my associate Prioris, what are you doing?"

Ever: Jab, use Surf again! Keep moving!

Jab: <I always keep moving! Why do I need—>

Ever: Quickly!

Jab: <Okay, okay!>

-he skates away on a stream of water, Garchomp bursting up from under him-

Garchomp: <You can't run!>

Jab: <Prove it!>

-Garchomp burrows again, and Jab Surfs away again. Garchomp continues popping up and down, Jab staying only a few inches ahead of the land shark as they crisscross the arena-

Jab: <Ever, if you've got any ideas besides "Run away", that would be really nice!>

Ever: As it happens...

Cynthia: You thought Garchomp needed to build up speed for Dragon Rush, which is true, but she can just as easily do that by chaining from another attack! Garchomp! Finish this!

-this time, as Garchomp bursts from the ground, she leaps high into the air, and dives down towards Jab-

Ever: Jab! Get to the very center of the arena, and use Protect!

Garchomp: <That won't save you forever!>

Jab: <Really hoping it doesn't need to, Ever!>

Ever: ...

-Garchomp descends like an avenging angel, swinging down her blades. Jab forms a glowing, red-and-black barrier, and Garchomp crashes down into it...-

-and the entire arena floor gives way from the force of the strike-

Unsteadily approaching both the Pangoro and Weavile, Colton exhaled. "Could I possibly ask why it would be a bad idea to try to capture UB Beauty?" He asked.

"And before you ask, I am named Colton. Colton Rever," he offered.

Malie Garden

-Anabel stares at Vorkken.-

Anabel: ...You're a Weavile. Not an Ultra Beast, not any other sort of typical extraterrestrial Pokemon. A Weavile and a Pangoro.

-Kaito gives an odd look toward the scene, before sending out Spectrum and assisting with evacuation in the background.-

-the dust clears, and Jab and Garchomp are both lying at the bottom of what is now a large pit-

Ever: I always seem to end up wrecking Champions' floors...sorry about that.

Cynthia: I'll clean it up later. Did you know that would happen?

Ever: It was a fair guess. You'd been digging up most of the bottom layer of the arena, and Jab soaked the upper layer to soften it up a bit...Garchomp may be tougher like this, but she's heavier too uh, no offense, and unlike Jab, she doesn't have hands to help her out of what seems to be a very effective Trapinch pit.

-indeed, while Jab has fairly easily scaled the sides of the pit, using the wet sand for traction, the amount of sand surrounding Garchomp denies her leverage to jump, and her attempts to scoop it aside mostly just leave furrows-

Ever: Jab, does it feel weird battling if you're not using Night Slash?

Jab: <Little bit.>

Ever: Oh well. Will I make it up to you if I give you the finisher?

Jab: <Not like you have other options...>

-he breathes ice onto his claws, forming sharp blades, and leaps high into the air-

Jab: <BUT IT SURE FREAKING WILL!>

-and he dives, slashing Garchomp as he lands-

Ever: ...

Cynthia: ...

Ever: ...

Cynthia: ...You did it.

Ever: ...So I did.

Maggie: :o

Hae-Won: "THAT was impressive."

-Grins even wider-

Just as I predicted.

Mezzo: Wow, nice!

Pianis: Wish I had Giri watching this. She could probably pick up a few tips. Hey Giri!

-Giri continues happily shredding her ice block into nothing, not paying any attention to anything else-

Pianis: ...Never mind.

Lakinala Center

-My entire cast there erupts into cheers-

Huginn: <...Damn. No wonder he took out my brother.>

Ever: This is a really weird feeling. This is the first League I ever battled, and I didn't even make it past Aaron the first time. And I just became Champion.

Cynthia: You earned the victory, Ever. Go on, enter your team.

-Ever takes a deep breath-

-Ever takes a deep breath-

Ever: ...Wow.

Cynthia: Wow.

Ever: ...Well, I gotta go turn a bird into a ghost now. ...Thank you for the battle.

-and he's gone-

Prince Vorkken: <... My goodness. Is it really that shocking? I knew there were few like me, but these shocked responses have me a little self-conscious of myself now. Mayhaps an explanation is in order?>

-The Weavile puts a claw to his chin and leans his head back in thought.-

Prince Vorkken: <Where shall I begin...? Oh. Right. At the beginning. You see, it all started on a regular day. Up at the break of dawn, had my morning meal, and before I knew it I had already arrived at my family's palace - spectacular views from the parapets, by the way - and from there I was going about my duties. Meetings with the senechal, finishing supply agreements with the chef, brokering a few trade deals with the local guilds, that sort of thing.>

-He holds his hand out, as if begging the words to come to him.-

Prince Vorkken: <It was then that I had taken notice of a new member of the ladies-in-waiting. A fair lass, with elegant posture, and a true eye for the arts and philosophy as she debated the economic theories that had been tossed around the court. She even almost broke protocol and directly countermand the Burgher of the local city, if not for being held back by one of her colleagues. She was a remarkable individual, for sure...>

Vijounne: {AHEM!}

Chewgi: <My lord, our mission...>

Prince Vorkken: <Wh-what? But I was just getting to the good part!>

-Chewgi shrugs. Vorkken sighs.-

Prince Vorkken: <Mayhaps next time I shall regale you all with my tale! For the time being...>

-The Sharpedo ship zooms down, it's mouth open. It swallows Vijounne whole before swooping back up.-

Prince Vorkken: <You had best prepare yourselves.>

-The Weavile and his ninety nine retainers leap with shocking agility back onto the flat top of the ship.-

Prince Vorkken: <Next time you will not have it so easy!>

-The air crackles with power and energy as an Ultra Wormhole opens up and the ship slides in.-

Ludmilla: We'll be ready.

JD blinked, and just quietly put his face into his hands. "Prioris... we brought this thing out for nothing."

"Not true JD! We would've had a successful test run! At least we know that it works with the teleporter, though the reporters of your appearance suggest something is off with the Teleporter. UB-Hunter-01 is not a failure yet!"

JD looked up at Prioris and then sighed, "Well at least you have a better name for it. Best check with out implant at Aether again about UB info."

Prioris shook the body to nod, then they turned to those still there. "Any idea on who those shmucks with the broken machine are?"

"I believe those were last reported to be Bronze Birds."

"Funny."

Colton just stared at where they went off to. Then he broke the ice.

"Could someone please just explain to me what in the name of everything that ever existed is going on?" He asked bluntly.

"And I still never got an explanation as to why catching Beauty was a bad idea!" He recalled.

Team Iron Base

-Alonya gives a calm-down gesture-

Izaya: Now now, can't there be some other explanation? Mabye she duped them too?

Nagini: <That explains it... Izaya could sense a madness in her... One fuled by fear and doubt... He likes people like that.>

Lakinala Center

-Alli thinks, and frowns-

Alli: Ever won... Where I couldn't...

Gabe: ...Hey, you OK?

-but she's already headed off-

-Gabe frowns-

Ever: Yeah.

Poni Grove Guard: ...

Ever: Are we good?

Poni Grove Guard: You went to all this trouble, just to make a bird a ghost?

Ever: Obviously.

Poni Grove Guard: ...You've earned this.

-they step aside-

Ever: Much appreciated.

-Ever has switched back to his Kalos team, and sent everyone out-

Narrow: <Oh my gosh we're here!>

Ever: Well, we made it, guys.

Pleth: <I think that's...everything.>

Ever: Well, uh...I made deals with most of you to help you get your personal arcs resolved. And I think they are now. So...if anyone's ready to part ways...well, now would be the time to speak up.

Custard: -settles comfortably into a largely flowerless patch, allowing Narrow to perch on her head- <I...I proved myself to the Trial. If I wanted, I'm sure they'd take me now...but I don't think I do. They never respected me. You guys...do.>

Muninn: <Mostly.>

-Pleth Dragon Pulses him-

Ever: Cross? I'm sure you could take care of yourself, now.

Cross: <I'm sticking with you. You seem to end up in a lot of fights.>

Ever: ...Sadly, yes.

Cross: <Then I'm in!>

Estoc: <Me too. I'm really just here for the food.>

Ever: ...You're not talking about me, are you?

Estoc: <Anyway, I'm down to travel with you. I've always wanted to try Unovan cuisine.>

Ever: Not reassuring. And...Narrow? Once you get your nectar, are you going to go be a paranormal investigator?

Narrow: <I won't lie, I thought about it.>

-Ever gazes at them-

Narrow: <...But hey. You're chest-deep in the paranormal. How else am I going to find new cases?>

-Ever smiles-

Ever: Good to have you all on board, then. Narrow, your health?

-Narrow flutters off Custard's head to a flower, and sips the nectar-

-And...-

Narrow: <...I did it!>

Ever: Oh sweet Zekrom you're adorable!
