(Some more drunk-looking Skull Grunts are milling around, unaware of Mezzo as usual. One of them is half-heartedly fighting a Delphox's attempts to adjust his mask.)

-Mezzo blinks at the Delphox-

Mezzo: Okay, what sort of Fire type would be out in weather like this?

-Forte's older brother walks over to where they are sitting-

Pianis: Hey. Enjoying your first day of being an adult?

Forte: I guess so. Doesn't feel that different, really.

-Forte then notices a person mentioned in a prior post-

Forte: Uh, hi?

Po Town

(The Delphox barely seems to notice Mezzo, instead continuing to fuss over the grunt's mask.)

Delphox: ~Really, you should have worn a jacket or at least something warm, can't you see how awful this weather is, you'll catch a chill I'm sure of it...~

(The Grunt glances at Mezzo, looking completely fed up with the situation.)

Malie

-said person is a short young girl with curly green hair-

Mimmy: Oh, are you Fortis' family?

-Mezzo tilts her head at the scene-

-then, another grunt notices her-

Team Skull Grunt♂: Hey witch girl! What are you doing here?

Mezzo: You again?

Pianis: That's us. Nice to meet you, miss...?

Forte: Yeah. Uh, do you know why the police are after her?

Malie City

Mimmy: Cloutier. My name is Mimi Cloutier, but you can call me Mimmy. And as for why Fortis is being chased by the cops...

-she tilts her head-

Mimmy: I didn't know she was. Is she alright?

Mezzo: Wait a sec. Don't I know you?

Team Skull Grunt♂: Uh... no?

Mezzo: Yes I do. Red hair, calls me 'witch girl'... you're Lily's brother, aren't you?

Team Skull Grunt who is named Matthew: No I'm not!

Forte: I don't know, she just gave me my birthday present and left.

-Forte points at the Sylveon hat they're wearing-

Malie City

Mimmy: Ah! Happy birthday!

-she sits down on a bench near the two of them-

Mimmy: So, what are you two like?

Po Town

(The Delphox is instantly between Mezzo and Matthew, arms stretched out in a vain attempt to block them from each other. His eyes, one of which lolls in random directions completely independent of the other, are full of hysterical fear.)

Delphox: ~Oh goodness please don't fight each other that's the last thing we need and think of the mess you'll make!~ D:

(The Grunts on the sidelines look amused, but also slightly nervous.)

Mezzo: I uh, wasn't going to fight him? I just said, this is a guy I know. Why are you even in that weird punk getup anyway?

Matthew: It's Team Skull, stupid! It stands for honor, brotherhood, and loyalty!

Forte: Uh... I train Eevees, Pianis trains Ice types.

Malie City

Mimmy: Ah! I train Fairy types.

Po Town

(The Delphox doesn't look any less paranoid.)

Delphox: ~Well yes but what if you were about to fight? How could I live with myself if I let you two hurt each other and I did nothing and-~

(His speech descends into anxious canine whimpers at this point. In the distance, a sharp female human voice calls out-)

???: Quinn? Quinn? Where are ya, you dumb furball?

Matthew: He's over here!

Mezzo: Team Skull? ...What is it with you people and skulls?

Forte: Oh, like that other green-haired girl?

Malie City

Mimmy: Is that green haired girl Noelle? If she is, that's my sister.

Po Town

???: Alright, thanks.

(Round the corner comes a certain other red-haired person, who, upon noticing Mezzo, shoots her a suspicious glare.)

Clarice: And who the fuck is this emo disaster?

Mezzo: Okay, look, you can't call me an 'emo disaster' when your guys are wearing literal skull hats.

Matthew: They keep the rain off your head, and they're super cool looking!

Mezzo: Shut up.

-the crowd of Meowth hiding below Mezzo's umbrella curls up a little closer to her-

Forte: I think that's her name, yeah. She's Piano's friend, right?

Pianis: And Fortis likes her.

Malie City

Mimmy: That's right!

-she opens up a book and a spiral-ring notebook and begins to take notes on something. While doing so, she talks-

Mimmy: I'm sorry, I'm not bothering you, am I?

Po Town

(Clarice rolls her eyes dismissively.)

Clarice: That doesn't answer my question. Who are you, why're you wandering around this dump, what's with the cats?

(Quinn still looks about ready to melt down with anxiety, but stays quiet for now.)

Mezzo: Some police guy wanted me to get all his cats back together. And I'm kinda curious about what the deal with this place is.

Matthew: It's Team Skull turf! So get lost, or we'll break you to the bone!

Mezzo: What does that even mean?

Forte: No, you're not.

Celeste: <You're nice.> -wraps a ribbon around Mimmy's arm-

Forte: What are you writing down, though?

Po Town

(Clarice twitches at the mention of a "police guy" who likes cats.)

Clarice: ...yeah, just go give him his cats back. The less attention he pays us, the better.

Malie City

-Mimmy pets Celeste-

Mimmy: I'm writing an essay about The Waste Land and its use of perspective.

-smiles-

Mimmy: Fun fact: did you know that T.S Eliot was originally going to call it He Do The Police In Different Voices?

Mezzo: Thanks. I'll be heading right out of your way.

-she starts walking toward the exit, and the Meowth follow-

Meowth 1: <Yeah, she'd better not mess with the boss.>

Meowth A: <He'd totally scratch her up!>

Meowth i: <meow>

Forte: The wasteland? Like a desert?

Pianis: Wastelands can be frozen too, you know.

Observatory, past

Siivagunner: <You can't stand up to my beats!>

Alli: Yesssss! We did it!

Locke: -laughs- Nice job there!

Malie

-Mona waves akwardly-

Archer: Yeah what about her?

-Sees Jamie-

Must... Resist... Cute...

Mimmy: No, he was saying that modern society was the waste land. Not coincidentally, the poem was written right after World War I. It's a very dense, very allusive text, but it's incredibly rewarding with the right set of annotations.

Forte: Oh. Well, I don't really know that much about history.
