Sarah: It's, erm... Aura drain. Like, Drain Punch. It's the only thing I can manage other than, y'know, Aura sense.

-To Lyuri-

Well, it's not exactly unusual for someone your age to not know what they want to do with the rest of their lives yet, so don't feel too bad about it.

"So you're like a vampire?" asked Marie

"Doesn't really make me feel any better, it just feels like I'm wasting time."

Jacob: -Looks at Sarah with a curious expression-

"... Hm. Question. Using that do you know about how much life force you should be taking from someone? Or rather, if you were draining less than what you expected you would be?"

-Sarah sweatdrops at Marie-

Sarah: Um, sort of?

-She glances over at Jacob-

Sarah: I honestly haven't figured that out yet. I've only even tried it on someone else a few times, and only with Duke.

-To Lyuri-

Well what do you like doing? Besides battling?

"Duke is probably not the best person to use for measuring that kind of thing. He probably has a lot of stamina." said Hikari, giggling

"So, you can use Drain Punch basically?" asked Marie

"Well, drawing. But that's something I'd rather leave as a hobby."

Jacob: "Ah."

"Okay. I wanted to see something but it doesn't help unless you can tell you're draining less.... Do you have to expend energy to use it and simply gain more than what you expend?"

-Sarah nods at Marie, then shrugs at Jacob-

Sarah: A little bit, but like, it isn't even enough to bother me. Which, honestly, is the scary part. I mean, Duke didn't seem particularly bothered, but I still don't know how much I was draining from him.

Jacob: "Hm."

-Reclines again- "Nope not worth it then. I was gonna see if the protective energy from Kanshou and Bakuya and the piece of the Trinity Mirror built into my cloak would help protect against that like other Auric abilities but, without being conscientious of how much you should be draining it's useless."

"Why don't you ask the teacher about that?" asked Hikari, giggling

"Being able to drain someone's life force like that... It's a pretty scary ability to have. Do you have enough control over it that you won't end up using it by accident?" asked Marie.

Lane and Iggy's room

Iggy 1:I'm the real one Papa! You gotta believe me!

Iggy A:No! I'm the real one, Papa!

-Lane now has a headache-

-He flops on his bed-

Sarah: Yeah, there's no way I can use it accidentally. I have to be touching the person I'm using it on, for starters, and actually thinking about using Aura in the first place. When I am, it's pretty easy, even if I don't do much... but I still have to be trying.

Marie nods "Interesting, I'll make sure to add that to my notes about Aura later."

Jacob: "I don't think Duke would be too helpful. As far as I'm aware he can't do that. And I already know things like Force Palm and Aura Sphere are dulled so long as I have my coat and both my swords. At the very least it dulled a obscuric cytotoxin and sword construct enough for me to survive to get medical treatment. I don't think it provides any protection against Psychics though..."

"He wouldn't be teaching about it if he didn't know how to pull it off, right?" asked Hikari

Jacob: "Not necessarily. If you understand the mechanics of Aura control and it's fundamentals I'm sure you could teach someone how to activate a power or use one they have but aren't great with if you yourself don't have it. Less effectively than someone who does but doesn't mean you can't. Like I... um... "taught" Jason how to make shield constructs and I just kinda whack things with swords."

-Sarah nods to Marie-

Sarah: Honestly, I'm still kinda confused about a lot of this. I asked Tagg about this, and even he didn't know it was something that happened with human Aurics.

-Umbra and Tagg eventually reach the one part of the village still standing - a massive temple covered in murals and statues of Giratina, the Distortion World and various Ghost-types-

Umbra: I was made high priest of this temple at a young age... I actually held the position fairly well during my tenure, though Styx regretted she could never be there for me throughout it all...

...Especially when the plague started...

"Huh, so Tagg can't do that?" asked Hikari, surprised, then looking at Jacob "Well, considering Duke's origins I wouldn't be surprised if he can do it."

"Interesting, so you have a rather special skill." said Marie, looking quite curious "I wonder if you're the only one who can do it? You haven't seen your teacher do it, have you?"
